12 boxes at $159 is over $1900 and that's not including tax and shipping. I don't even think there was $300 in value here. Topps/Fanatics should be ashamed for selling it for this much. I was on the fence about purchasing this. Thanks for saving me money
I realize he isn't the same caliber as Trevor Hoffman but some people forget that Joe Nathan also started in the minors as a shortstop for the Giants and ended up having a wonderful career as a closer.
I think one of the boxes may have broken even...the rest....yikes...I thought about it but at 40 bucks a card I thought it too risky. Not sure what Fanatics was thinking but high quality production deserves much better substance. Going to be tough to justify buying singles. And I appreciate Erik's honesty in not sugarcoating it...he warns us repeatedly about the lottery aspects of the breaks.
Congratulations turning 2k into $50.00 in value. Personally, I would probably give about $20 for the entire lot of what you opened in that case. That has to be the biggest ripoff of 2023.
$160 I'd probably opt for two archives signature series. I'd agree around $100 or less would be much better but, unfortunately I don't see box prices crashing anytime soon.
I’ve had good luck in past years with Topps Archives Signature Series, usually the retired player edition. This year, as with about all Topps products, just not much luck. I have opened 4 of the retired series boxes, and got a Jim Edmonds (very good player, but no real value), Hunter Pence (good player, but probably even less value), Mark Mulder 1/1 (super player in his short prime, but again, no real value), but he is a MSU Spartan, so that is cool. Finally tried to hit paydirt on try #4. Pulled a Tony Oliva on a Topps Allen and Ginter. I was happy to pull a HOF, but when it is on a very modern A&G card, that tempers my excitement. I also know that there is now way I’m coming close to getting my $ back on the Oliva, but atleast it is a HOF auto and for that, I’m ok with not breaking even.
Topps ruins the hobby with the D level autographs just so they can guarantee an autograph in some of their boxes. I've ended up with two Simeon Woods-Richardson autographs from two different products. I guess when you have only pitched in two MLB games since 2022, and have a 6.52 era, you have a lot of time to sign Topps cards. The only cards worth keeping were the Jimmy Rollins, Shohei, Aaron Judge, and the Hoffman auto. Thanks Jabs for saving me money. Again. Great video by the way.
WTF With only 4 cards at 160 per box they should have left the scrub autos to big league or heritage. What a bust of a product!. This case may yield $150 so disappointing.
As with about all 2023 Topps products, way too many Zonks!!! Even the good packs, like the Trevor Hoffman auto don’t come close to getting you your monies worth. Cards are beautiful, but I just can’t throw large sums of money at Topps products that are a sure fire waste of large sums of money. Fanatics/Topps is pushing me firmly into vintage cards only.
Yikes, hopefully just a bad set of boxes there. I don't think any of them got even half your money back. The base card parallels look nice, but overall I'm thinking this is a singles-only product for me.
So... 159.00 a pack or 40 dollars a card (super fail) Don't mean to be rude but basic card collecting doesn't exist anymore not at 4 cards a box (aka: pack ) Now the big question... when do they start calling a box a CASE ! ( Yes when it has 2 packs ! ) Boxes need 24 to 36 packs with a min. of 10 cards a pack and stop using HOF players basically as pack fillers because there aren't enough soild stars and good rookie future stars !
“Keep it more protected.” A man with logic. I got a replacement package when both my foil packs looked like rainbows. I ended the conversation with put them in the middle, so they don’t bounce around during shipping as much. They said the convo is recorded, hopefully they take that to the next meeting for a raise.
Yuck. Send those back. Topps should NEVER do anyone like this!!! A slap in the face to us all. Smh They are supposed to be the best, they need to act like the best. Unbelievable. You'd be lucky to get $159.00 out of all of those cards
Worst break/product of all time!!! I opened 3 Topps black and white boxes yesterday for $49 per and will double my ROY easily and I have 6 cards to grade on top of that.
This might be the worst value product I’ve ever seen.. If this is par for the course going forward I’ll be sticking to buying 2nd market singles for the cards I want and only buying boxes of cheap fun stuff for the kids.. wild
