Here's a brief look at the upcoming BETTY AND VERONICA SUMMER SPECTACULAR #1 comic, which is scheduled to be released on July 3, 2024. This video was recorded on June 24, 2024.
There is one new 5-page story in the issue, written by Tom DeFalco and drawn by Steven Butler and Jim Amash.
When I recorded this video, I didn't know where the reprinted stories in the issue had originally appeared. I've since been able to look them up on the internet:
"Solar Panic" is reprinted from BETTY & VERONICA JUMBO COMICS DIGEST #315 (Aug. 2023). In the video, I guessed that this Darkling tale had been a new story which first appeared in a recent Archie digest. And it turns out that I was right!
The Big Ethel story "Just Beach-y!" is reprinted from the same 2023 digest issue. In the video, I mistakenly guessed that the story was from around 2005.
"A Day at the Beach" is reprinted from ARCHIE GIANT SERIES MAGAZINE #8 (Oct. 1960). In the video, I had guessed "late 1950s, early 1960s."
Oh well, not bad guesses!
