Recently, I got my motorcycle endorsement with the intent of getting a bike I could explore with and I ended up buying a 2024 KLR650 Adventure ABS. After getting comfortable with the bike, I decided to take a ride from my homebase in Fruita, CO over to Utah by way of US 6 & 50. Originally, I had planned on this being a longer trip but unfortunately, the roads were so bad once I crossed the state line that my GPS stopped working and would not charge properly even when hooking it up to the USB charger. So I had to cut my trip short but I was still able to get in a nice 2 hour ride and took in some beautiful scenery!
In this video, I go from Harley's Dome in Thompson Springs, UT back towards home. On the way, I revisit McInnis Canyon Conservation Area, which is a massive area of BLM-controlled land open to a variety of outdoor activities. I only saw a small amount of the 123,700+ acres of land, but was definitely impressed and will be coming back once I get the GPS issues worked out. After leaving, I head back to Fruita and then travel to yet another part of the McInnis Canyon Conservation Area (yeah, it's big) by way of King's View Road. I travelled as far as I was allowed this time and discovered that the KLR650 is not a fun bike to drive in sand! After leaving from this portion of the conservation area, I head towards the Colorado National Monument which is just a short drive a away. However, there was some sort of biking event going on and I didn't think it would be ideal for a scenic video, so that will be coming out soon!
