🎵 Grease is the word! 🎵 .....Sorry, couldn't help myself. 😅 Very nice grease gun! Certainly handy to be sure! I've had trouble with those new connectors before, as well. They just have to loosen up a bit then they won't be so tight. Thanks for sharing, Chad!
I'm hoping that with more use, it will be easier. I did notice it was significantly easier on the excavator than it was on the loader. Thanks for watching!
I had the same issue with my DeWalt grease gun when it was new. It would get stuck on the grease fitting just like that overtime as it broke in it got better 👍. Stay cool in the AC 😂
I am shocked that it can create so much pressure through that tiny little hole in the zerk that the gun actually won't come off of the zerk. That's pretty amazing when you think about it.
Lock-n-lube does have a long tip model that would possibly extend far enough. That or go with the 90 adapter on some of those fittings for leverage. I have the same tool but I release the rod into the tube, out of fear of bending it. One quick pump will show if it’s empty while not on a zerk.
It seemed like it got easier in the mini-ex versus the John Deere. It would be nice for a quick follow up on this if it was user error or just a learning curve or bad design. The grease points on the JD seemed like bad design. With all your toys etc. I’m surprised you didn’t have one of these a long time ago. Good stuff
It was definitely easier on the mini-ex. No doubt. It could be partially a learning curve, but I think it also could be that the Deere is just more difficult to grease due to 20 years of use. I remember my grandpa and great uncles would actually replace grease zerks over time - they had whole bins of replacement zerks. I've never replaced one. I probably should consider doing that. Maybe they're bound up with old grease. Thanks for watching!
Thanks, Chris. I didn't know there was a lock-n-lube that was longer - but thanks to your suggestion, I did find it on amazon. I'll have to measure and see if it would be long enough. amzn.to/3SDMHqi I also have recently seen that pressure return valve - but it seems it only works on the DeWalt, Lincoln, Ryobi and Milwaukee grease guns. Maybe they'll work on making one for the Ridgid one. I also considered using the air release valve to see if that would help. I know it would spit some grease out, but it might release enough pressure to make it easier to remove the end.
Looks like a very well make battery powered grease gun. I bet it is very handy because you don't have to pump a lever to grease a fitting that is in very hard to reach areas. Watching you easily use the gun makes me want to head to my nearest equipment store and purchase one. A very interesting video. Wonder what accessories are made for this unit.
