Born in New Rochelle, went to Lincoln elementary school in the 1950s. Then Mayflower elementary. We had some nice parks to go to then. I miss going to the base ball park with my Uncle Charlie Mayo, then we will go to city park. Hudson park as a family outing were always a short trip, but sweet. Memories, you can't buy, but you can sure cherish them. Southern California is alright, but it's not New York, by far. I'm To old to move now. My reality is, if I die in Calif, I'm dying a New Yorker. Some day, I'll come home, whether I'm, standing or laying down. I'll be there, Home sweet home. Thanks! for the tour. WooooooW on Mother's Day ...feeling sad...(mom Sadie Metz Jackson had passed on ) I opened up my GOOGLE feed and there is my Mother's "building" on Sickles Avenue featured as the car is pulling out the parking space...It was surreal to see New Rochelle NY Mom's neighborhood...North Avenue.. May Street.. Lockwood Ave.on GOOGLE feed.. Nice work Neighborhood 👍 Guy!
Omg I kept waiting for you to go into a DIFFERENT neighborhood in New Rochelle. There are so many beautiful areas there, including the waterfront. Instead, you repeated some streets, staying in the downtown area. You should research your topics before you film. Also edit out waiting behind cats at lights.
@@dtxspeaks268 Around East Lincoln Avenue and North Avenue and around Union Avenue are really garbage. The rest of NewRo is middle class to upper-middle-class super rich suburban and Iona College housing. The hood part of New Rochelle is like 5% of the city. Not to mention all the luxury condos for the wealthy NYC transplants next to the train station so they can go to work in Midtown in 30 minutes. Same for Yonkers, only a small fraction is hood on the West side, the rest is the burbs.
@@dtxspeaks268 i know, but the Bronx is largely and predominantly hood. New Rochelle and Yonkers are predominantly wealthy, areas like Wykagil and such are 10 times larger than the tiny hood parts of New Rochelle and Yonkers. I’m from the Bronx and I work in New Rochelle and all over Westchester), a job where I have to drive around every single part of New Rochelle and I am aware there are hood parts but they’re small and only span a few blocks at a time. Unlike the Bronx.
Depends. The northern part (wykagyl where NRHS, Cosi, and Cosi are) is damn expensive but safe, downtown (new roc city, main street, drake ave) is ok but can be sketchy at night, the center (north ave, Webster and grove) is the hood.
This place ain’t got to many hood spots. Kind of posh to me . Their downtown /shopping area looks like ,Cheery hill nj. I Pass threw here to get to ct from nyc without tolls .
