Out of all the Rolex watches coming out of Baselworld 2017, this is my favorite!
The 50th Anniversary Rolex Sea-Dweller Reference 126600 is a 43mm piece that is really a “next-level” diving watch, at least when you compare it to a standard Submariner.
I would even venture to say that the watch is a Deepsea killer!
Rolex hit it right on the money with the design of this Sea-Dweller 50th Anniversary edition. I love the red lettering on the dial of the watch and the bezel has a great aesthetic appeal as well (even though it looks very similar to that of the Rolex Deepsea).
The model that I reviewed on this video is one from a client and personal friend by the name of Pito Luna. Pito, I think that you have a timeless keeper here!
What's the only problem I see right now with the new Rolex Sea Dweller? Availability!
Good luck trying to find one. It's definitely not easy. If you're one of the lucky ones, you might pay as much as $15,000 for the 43mm watch. I know a few people that have already bought it for that price. Keep in mind that the watch retails for 10,800 Swiss Francs (CHF), which is around $11,125 based on the current CHFUSD exchange rate as of the day of this review.
As far as the Watch Game goes, this new Sea-Dweller reference 126600 is definitely a keeper!

I have one also, but the thing I love so much (after a Sub) is the Cerachrom full bezel AND the lovely charcoal dial. Most people miss this. It is truly lovely.

I got one. It is my first watch...EVER. To say I love it is a huge understatement. The proportions on my 7.75 inch wrist are perfect. Had a colleague (who wears a sub) notice it immediately. It is understated at a distance...and then BAM with the red text. Loving this watch and really enjoy the videos!! ✅👍🇺🇸

Nice Vid Bro. Rolex are clever. They give you a 41 and now the 43. Either side of the Omega 42. Options to crush the opposition. The 43 is the nicest ever with that red logo line. Wider bracelet and deeper resistance. Being an Oris Aquis/titan man, I appreciate the 43 more and when this baby is discontinued, watch out. The new King of the jungle will make his presence felt and crush all who challenge it. I have a 41 subby which is ok, but the 43 is wicked. I bought 2 of them and at a premium. 1 for my superficial shallow self absorption, the other to put away for the future along with the subby. Get yourselves one now. This beast will spike out of control one day soon. Watch this space.

Got it from my dealer a couple of months ago. Luckily, I got one with the Mk1 dial. They are producing them with the Mk2 dial now. Mine signifies it as a true 50th anniversary. I also own the Submariner Hulk and a 2018 Deepsea James Cameron. These and others are on my video that shows most of my Rolex collection.

@@joaquin9marquez If there is no crown/coronet between the words "Swiss Made" (at the 6 o'clock position) then you are one of the lucky ones that got the Mk1 dial. If there is a crown, then you have the Mk2 dial. I picked up a couple of other watches since I've posted that. I now have the Batman and I got a second Pepsi jubilee. So that's 8 hard to find watches from my awesome dealer, in only 6 months.

@@joaquin9marquez It's actually even a bit more complex than that. Not every new release of 2018 has a crown--only those that also have the newest movement in their respective line. For example, in the GMT line, only three have the crown because only three were released in 2018 and have the new 3285 movement (the Pepsi jubilee, the TT Root Beer, and the all everose Root Beer). The white gold Pepsi does not have it because, although it is newly released with a blue dial for 2018, it still has the old 3186 movement. So, not all 2018 releases have it. For those released before Baselworld 2018, they only have the crown if they have the latest movement in their respective line and they were made during the 2018 production year. So, my SD43 does not have the crown (called the Mk1 dial) because, while it does have the latest 3235 movement, it was made in the original production year of 2017. Starting in the 2018 production year they kept making the same exact watch but they added the crown. If they continue to make it for the 2019 production year and beyond, it will continue to have the crown. That's why I love having no crown. Having the Mk1 dial proves that my Sea-Dweller 43mm "Red Line" is not only a 50th Anniversary watch by looks, it is actually a 50th Anniversary watch because it was produced in the 50th production year for the Sea-Dweller line. It's also a good thing because there will likely be less Mk1 dials than Mk2 dials, which increases collectability and value. That's cool just because it is, but it's also cool because collectors will value those with the Mk1 dial higher than those with the Mk2 dial regardless if there are fewer Mk1 dial watches out there or not (just due to the proof of them being true 50th Anniversary watches). I am guessing since you got yours 6 months ago that you also have the Mk1 dial (no crown). The Mk2 dial versions didn't start popping up until late this Summer.

Great review man! Is there any difference between the bracelet on this 50th Anniv SD and the DeepBlue DeepSea? I've heard from several reviews that this one is slightly wider and doesn't taper as much as the DeepBlue. I tried on both and didn't notice the difference. Pondering between the Deepblue and This SD50. Thanks!

Rolex finally diversified by releasing the Sea Dweller and Sky Dweller at Basel in 2017. 40 mm watches are too small for me, 42 mm - 43 mm is more realistic and proportionate. I know the Yacht Master and DSSD are 44 mm, the DSSD is too thick and bracelet tapers too much for how large the watch is. The SD 43 is very proportionate for me. I look forward to getting one of these at some point.

Eric, I got last month the new 43mm Sea Dweller from my Rolex AD, paid MSRP, so very happy about that. I have it next to my DSSD-Cameron, there is absolutely no difference , that I can discern between the bezels. I do love both Rolex divers.

Rodrigo, hmmm....tough question. I think I still like my DSSD-Cameron more than the new sea Dweller. That dial on the Cameron is just incredible, always changing in color, and it's deep, very 3-D. Something about the super thick crystal too. Both watches are nice tho.

Hi Eric. I think the bezel in the SD43 is fatter than the Deepsea's. Dial is 1mm larger too. Got mine back in May. Was lucky enough to be 1st on the waiting list at the AD. For €2.5K more than a Sub where I live, I think it's well worth it. Brings innovations allowing longer power reserve, higher shock resistance, stronger protection against magnetism. Technically a far superior diver than a Sub which is still a great watch but totally outclassed by the SD43 IMHO. Also, the SD43 addresses the many criticisms against the previous SD4000, the six digits Sub and the DeepSea. No end links misalignment and puck appearance, no fat lugs, no narrow bracelet on a large and thick case. It trumps them all with its beautiful proportions. And let's not forget this is an anniversary edition. That with the red lettering makes it even more special. On a 7in/18cm wrist and above, it looks superb. Now about the Cyclops, I'm ok with it, I find it useful even if aesthetically I prefer without, but I've made my peace with it. It is Rolex trademark after all. The Cyclops was always meant to be on the Sea-Dweller but couldn't due to technical reasons as they explained at BW2017. Today they managed to add this feature deeply rooted in Rolex's DNA. It makes sense.

I Just got mine last week and I really love it - for me it's the perfect sport watch ( my collection is a BLNR, Submariner LV and Deepsea Blue) and I had a Daytona Ceramic which I sold after few months because it wears small and in the end is boring. Eric....I got one! Pulled the trigger ,errr...credit card... this morning on a brand new one from a Rolex AD at MSRP. It's being sized then shipped, so next week I'll be sporting this on my wrist. It was super luck that landed me this watch. It will pair nicely with my DSSD-Cameron. I've got a couple friends who are on wait lists and at best, hoping to get one around Christmas time. I can't believe my luck. Called the right AD at the right moment.....unreal.

Hy Eric. since Rolex made a model a line of products, there seadweller lost its exclusivity. when the deepsea arrived I thought that Rolex wanted to repeat the Comex. whynot. But the deapsea v2 (new movements and bracelets) and now the birthday with a cyclops more red. Rolex sells little and struggling to take off this new range. they grope. thank you for your video. I bought this for retail. It's in the safety deposit box right now. In two minds as it wears quite big IMO. Initially I thought otherwise. I could sell for $14k and buy a used GMT II and a Explorer II 42mm (almost). But might kick myself down the road if it appreciates further.

Nice video and thanks for making it. I think this watch is a little bit over priced since it's very close to deep sea. The selling point is the new movement ,the cyclops, and it's 50 anniversary version However, the cyclops make it looking like submariner the new movement makes little difference to those who wear it everyday Therefore, I think the hype in price will be mainly for it's an 50 anniversary watch. It's a nice piece still then Rolex or most watch manufacturer won't give you everything at once It will be nice to own one if you don't have any diver's watch
