While there are certainly a lot of surfers in California, only about 2% of Californians surf so I think a surf coaster would still be highly appealing to most of my state.

What is going on at Knott’s?! I knew Xcelerator has had very spotty operation lately, but I had no idea the Montezooma’s project had gone off track! Also, I didn’t know Timberline Twister was gone! They definitely need a new kiddie coaster in camp snoopy then!

Xcelerator and Top Thrill Dragster both had the same manufacturer. After the accident with TTD, Cedar Fair shut down Xcelerator as a precaution I believe. Knott’s has done test runs with Xcelerator so it has me wondering if it’s a safety or parts issue that’s keeping the ride out of daily operation.

as surfer i can guarantee, without even having ridden pipeline, that i would love to get on one of these (and my dad, also a surfer, agrees. heck he was talking about it all day when we did the avatar simulator at disney about the surfing scene). for one the experience of a theme park makes it very novel to go with your friends and all that, but even that aside, the experience is completely different. you don't get to lift your feet off the board like you do on a surf coaster. irl surfing you want your feet stuck to the board so you can land aerial maneuvers. and on irl surfing you're also facing to the side. also, most surfing happens on 10ft waves max, its very rare for conditions to allow for any bigger waves, and even the tallest wave ever surfed (86ft / 26m) is dwarfed by pipeline (110ft / 34m). add in launches and inversions, and it's really not even comparable experiences! i guarantee you many surfers in cali would be thrilled to ride a surf coaster like pipeline!!

@snodmusic I'm talking like retracking it. New trains etc. Extending its life span. Cutting down the roughness. I like the ride and it doesn't bother me but there's a reason why the majority of people will answer Viper when asked what SFMM ride will go next

I live 10 mins away from Disneyland 15 mins from Knotts and 1 hour 1/2 from Magic Mountain. I would love SFMM to get a giga but I’m also very intrigued about a Vekoma coaster you guys are talking about.

Xcelerator last operated with guests in March of 2022. Montezuma’s project i don’t see getting finished until late next year or 2025. A new coaster would do wonders for this park right now.

@@HumanStateOfEmergency Xcelerator opened last year. They are adding a new coaster this year (Snoopy's Tenderpaw Twister Coaster). Montezooma: The Forbidden Fortress opens next year. They sent out a survey asking what their new rollercoaster should be for 2026 or 2027. Knott's might have 4 major projects completed 4 years in a row. 2023 Xcelerator, 2024 Camp Snoopy, 2025 MonteZOOMa, 2026 New coaster

As a pass holder to Knotts, I'm not renewing because of their broken promises. Montezooma was supposed to open this summer and never did, and they told us Xcelerator was going to reopen fall of this year but that came and went with no word. Absolutely disappointed in the delays, compounded by a complete lack of communication by them. If they say they're building a new coaster, I'm not believing them til it's open and operating.

The communication from the park has been horrible. Can’t understand why they just tell us any information. I almost didn’t renew as well but I am so close and enjoy the park for other reasons with my family I kept them.

The reason communication is so horrible is due the director of communications for Knotts and California great adventure doest like to communicate openly like Tony Clark does, she prefers to stay hidden and have "ambassadors" for the park (RU-vidrs) who will react in a favorable way. They know they have nothing great to offer, so when they do something new, they have the ambassadors hype everything up. It's it's something that people don't like, they dont address it at all.

Magic Mountain is my home park. We are missing a water coaster. The park used to have five big water rides and now we are down to two, sometimes one. An extreme spinner like Ride To Happiness would be awesome, but I don't see it happening right now. I believe the park will definitely get something in 2025, probably some kind of park upgrade or giant flat ride like Crazanity for 2026 since LA is a host city for the World Cup, but the biggest addition will be for 2028 and the summer Olympics. Also, please give Viper some revamping. It's still an awesome ride and deserves the Loch Ness Monster treatment and newer trains for longevity. As to Sea World, I would love them to get a surf coaster there. It makes more sense than a wing coaster for the reasons you mentioned. Plus, they could build out over the water in a couple of places in the layout as a bit of an added scenic/thematic bonus and be completely unique to the park.

The whole “rumor” about magic mountain getting a giga I don’t buy. The rumors are basically about a tweet the park made about a giga but it sounded like a joke. I don’t know of a park that would just say what they’re getting. Also six flags great America has made tweets about how they’re going to rmc American eagle and that never ended up happening because they were just joke tweets.

@@gforcegalore first off a survey from years ago doesn’t really matter much if you look at the situation the parks are in now. Yes CF did add gigas but since covid they have been in a poor situation. CF did this merge with six flags because they were in a bad spot too. Even though they merged together I don’t think they’re going to add any gigas in the distant future. They’re going to play it safe. Also considering Knotts and magic mountain are under the same house now I don’t see why they would spend a bunch of money on a coaster. There’s No competition. Disney and universal are for a different market.

The argument about them not wanting to do a Surfer coaster because they surf in the Ocean is interesting to me because DCA is there. Its a park about California's history in California. Plus you have Soarin Over California which is consistently in high demand to be put back in the park longer for the limited time offerings DCA/WDW currently does. So Honestly a Surf Coaster in SW San Diego sounds brilliant.

A Zamperla Double-Heart coaster in place of Monte would require the removal of a lot of rides in Camp Snoopy. And there's the obstacle of Jaguar and Sierra Sidewinder as well. And in terms of the Golden Bear Theatre at SFMM... There's totally room for a giga station and lift in that spot. With tons of areas the track could go from there. Just look at what they did with Tatsu.

I'd love to see Knott's add something big and exciting. At this point, they have Silver Bullet, Ghost Rider, and Hang Time. Don't get me wrong, I think they're all pretty great! But they definitely are pissing off fans by delaying the re-opening of Xcelerator. At a certain point, people are going to give up, and the track will only serve as a reminder of what could have been, but isn't and probably never will be. They should tear it down and put something really impressive in its place as an apology and thank you to all the patience that they've force onto their guests.

I think magic mountains biggest gap in their lineup is a spinning coaster as they don’t have one. So I think they should either get a Mack xtreme spinner or family spinner, but I think a family one would be better as magic mountain significantly lacks family coasters

Was just at MM on Monday and said the same thing as I walked by that unused space next to Full Throttle. They could easily fit a new coaster there. Would also love to see them tear down Viper and Ninja and bring in a Mack Extreme Spinner and perhaps a Vekoma or maybe be the first park to bring in the Wild Moose coaster. That area is so close to the kiddie park…it would fit right in as a sort of stepping stone to the bigger coasters. Kids could start at Bugs Bunny World, hop on Wild Moose and then hop on Full Throttle and be ready for X2 in no time!

I was thinking with a new Seaworld surf coaster, San Antonio has gone the longest without a roller coaster but San Diego has a coastal location which works better. Maybe behind manta by the cable car station

Magic Mountain used to have records for tallest, fastest, biggest, etc. but not so much anymore. They need a new record and I think most inversions would really attract the crowds. Something like Steel Curtain or Smiler would fit in great and they could boast about bringing the record back to America.

I personally think Magic needs to retire a few coasters before adding another coaster. There is big staffing/maintenance issue and a lot of rides are down on a daily basis. As far as Knott’s being down to 3 thrill coasters for the past almost two years has been tough. They desperately need another high capacity ride.

Cries in PNW where our best new coaster coming up is a discount of a discount Formula Rossa. Thankfully we still have 2 very old but amazing airtime woody machines in Coaster at Playland and Classic Coaster at washington state fair. But it really sucks being a PNW enthusiast. We dont have a single coaster over 100 ft tall.

MACK XTREME SPIN for SeaWorld San Diego. There's nothing like this west of Missouri, easily meets height requirements, GP eat it up, does the most for enthusiasts of the options. It could go THROUGH and over OVER the park like Manta (and Taiga). There's also room along the shoreline (they own about 10ft of water all around), going by the water would be sick! The best area might be just east of the bay amphitheatre and north of Manta, lots of grass, paths, and some small low buildings. It could extend over the back paths by the shore, do a big element over the large unused area in front of the Mission Bay Theatre (that's rarely used itself), loop back along the shore and launch into the biggest loop (could be over 150ft if they wanted), do barrel rolls/hearlines/motosaurus rolls/over banks along the shore, and come back into station going over the bay water north of the bay amphitheatre.

Magic Mountain has a big gap in its line-up in my opinion - no spinning coaster! A Mack Extreme Spinner would be so good there. Alternatively a water coaster of some kind might be good too.

Xcellerator was supposed to open last month. it was so close. but then something else, I think with the breaks broke. the rumors are its an 8 week setback. I think Knotts had an issue with the manufacturer set to do the montezooma replacement and thats while things a stagnating for now. I don't think monte is getting fully replaced.

As a Ride-Op in Fiesta Village @ Knott's Berry Farm (as well as currently a Scare Actor for Scary Farm 50), I can inform that Xcelorator should be operational by the end of the month or possibly next month, and as for MonteZOOMa, it will be getting a NEW LAUNCH SYSTEM!! ^_^

I enjoy the enthusiasm and info. Cedar takijg 2 years to not even fix Xccelerator and Montezooma taking two years….it really makes this park feel mid tier at best. All the coasters are small and short besides ghost rider and jaguar(which kinda sucks) I can’t believe this park doesn’t have a Raptor model. It’s way to busy of a park to have the half decent rides it has.

Magic Mountain’s only gap I can see is a spinning coaster or a vertical drop. Knott’s I’m very concerned with but I’m sure Cedar Fair is trying their best and will get it back up to standards soon.

In addition, Legoland California is removing two opening day attractions, Fairy Tale Brook and Safari Trek. Since that opens up a big plot of land, maybe they could be the ones that get a B&M wing coaster? Remember Legoland Deutschland has one, and it’s got inversions which is a rarity for a kids park. Plus I think a surf coaster would be a better fit for SWSD than a wing coaster. San Diego…beaches…surfing…

If Knotts keeps having trouble with Montazooma’s (and I hope they keep it because it’s a classic), I could see a Vekoma Super Boomerang going in there. I’d prefer that to a Sky Rocket 2 since we already have one in the state.

Random question, (btw, like the direction the channel has taken)…I like this idea of friendly competition between the parks, what do you both think about theme parks and the over all sentiment of the economy? Not trying to go political, I see a lot of things about the uncertainty of the economy…I went to Busch gardens VA…it was a Sat, end of summer…I was expecting it to be packed…and nope. Minus dark coaster, lines were short. I’ve also heard theme park attendance was down…I’ve heard something about revenge travel being over and having an effect on theme park attendance. But, for me, kitchen table talk is that everything is expensive…but then I also see people spending money… I think taking a family of four to Disney (any park) is not cheap… Not sure if this all makes sense?

What about the rumored Giga that would be the ultimate upgrade, it'll be reliable, and you won't have to wait in line for 2+ hrs, look at silver Bullet still the most reliable ride in the park after 20 years. B&M can really be a good fit for Knotts

I think Magic Mountain should convert Superman with LSMs and replace the trains with spinning ones like the Intamin ultrasurf trains for example.

If Knott's were to replace Montezooma with a Zamperla Double Heart, that'd likely mean the park's cutting its losses on Xcelerator as well. At 70 meters (230 feet), a Double Heart would be noticeably taller than Xcelerator. Replacing it with a looping Vekoma multilaunch might be a good move, especially since Xcelerator will be inferior to Hollywood Drift no matter what Intamin does with it. As for Magic Mountain, maybe they'll replace Superman: EFK with an Intamin strata, but they could use a family-thrill coaster more.

I feel like SFMM is missing a coaster that is just plain fun and not too intense. If Goliath wasn’t there wasting space, a B&M hyper would be awesome there.

Vekoma is based in the Netherlands and we do not have any new age Vekoma coasters here either ;-) Instead Walibi Holland is building 2 RMC Raptor coasters... Logistic, it's not logic!

As someone who works for USH, they don’t build roller coasters…often mainly because of the SS (Sound stages). As y’all (and everyone) may know, roller coasters are loud & also makes people scream so either way it can make noises and interrupt live productions of upcoming films or shows. That’s mainly why Mummy is indoors in Hollywood. Orlando’s a different story.

@@SpiderWafflefalse. Those plans were from the 2010's, dates were changed by whomever got it. They passed on it because they wanted to focus on investing in their aging attractions & infrastructure, which they have been for the past 10+ years, dating back to 2012 with the boardwalk area redo, then log ride, mine ride, river rapids, ghost town/rider refurb and so on. Also I contacted the city of Buena Park planning and development office, they never officially received anything for Knotts for review, so the city never brought anything before it's residents. The layout was unisally close to residents homes, and obviously that would never fly. I'd check out the latest knott's giga concept that was released back in July, youtube search it. It's the best one yet and it's built AWAY from nearby homes.

That infamous knotts giga is never gonna happen. I think they should try their hand at an actually thrilling dark ride instead. They are fine with standard coastera as is. Something like Indiana Jones with the snow white mine train ride system, but the theme is inline with Knotts Berry Farms ghost town, so like a zombie western town dark ride with an indoor launch coaster.

If Montezoomas is NOT Revived Hopefully to use spare parts from the Shuttle Loop in storage in Niagra Falls to replace the loop they destroeyd but I like the 4 Inversion one to be a better successor if Monty dies which that one makes more sense with forward and back sequences yeah I will NOT Go to knotts till 2026 or so

We here in SoCal don't have a modern B&M Hyper or Giga. We NEED airtime in our lives. I thought knott's was getting a Giga? Now it's on the back burner AGAIN because they keep making investments on small prototype rides, which later deems to be unreliable, and have horrible capacity . Unlike good ol reliable B&M built silver Bullet, to date,that's been the absolute best return on investment Knotts has EVER had, when everything else is down and broken, for 20 years (Dec 2004) it's been Silver Bullet pulling the load, as it is now. They need a Giga from B&M asap.
