There might be more jobs but almost all of them are extremely low end service industry-type jobs. Nowhere near a living wage. Most all of my young friends and family make about 30k or below a year. I feel extremely fortunate to be where I am at. If your statistics are correct I am in the top 20% of this country's earning. That terrifies me because I don't think I make that much at all. I pretty much have enough for necessities and a few additional comforts. I basically have what is a little above what should be the normal standard of living for everyone. I see so many people around me suffering and just struggling to survive rather than being able to enjoy their life. Working themselves to death on stagnant wages that barely allow them to eat. I know that it isn't totally their faults. In fact many people I know were trying their absolute hardest and have post secondary degrees. They don't deserve the kind of life society has given them. I put in hard work to get where I am at but I know that hard work wasn't all of it. I had the right people to help me along the way. I was also in the right place at the right time to start my career. You can have the best work ethic in the world but if your luck is bad or you don't have the support you won't be able to achieve your goals in this society. It is deeply saddening that not everyone is guaranteed at least a basic standard of living here.

I think there was an over-confidence among the democratic base that Trump would not win against Hilary. They were right, she won by 3 million votes. Shore up the defense and look to exploit vulnerabilities in your opponent's. Play the move they least want you to play instead of the move you're best at playing. Because a ruthless opponent will draw you into playing that best move only once the trap is set. Set traps and let your opponent take the bait. That's how you win. That's how you stack the supreme court. That's how you overturn Roe v Wade. Not because you have a good argument to overturn that decision, but because you laid traps for your opponent's best play. Republicans don't play fair and they don't have anything to admire in their plays, they just play to win and when they do, they reward their financial backers handsomely and throw the religious fundies a bone. Corruption is not a dirty word for them. It's the most reliable route to victory. All you gotta do is hide it in plain sight and accuse the opposition of doing it behind their backs.
@Alex M That's the same strategy as last time. It didn't work. Americans need to see an actual platform with good ideas that don't raise taxes to stand on. However all the candidates have already said they plan on raising taxes, after Trump just gave the lower & middle class a 1000$ child credit bonus, THAT'S FUCKING SUICIDE.. and the only thing they offer is "I'm not Trump", and then insult. It's become painfully clear that when you try to beat Trump at his own game, you lose. We just need good policy change without all of the extremism, and maybe moderate Democrats can finally come back home.

@@SimonKanner-si3it Decriminalizing border crossings doesn't men it would go unpunished, but instead of going to criminal court it would go to civil court. And any intelligent person that actually cares about these policies and who sees trough the biased mainstream media narrative knows that it's not just 'giving healthcare to illegals' . Before that happens the whole idea is that healthcare is a human right, which would mean that first of all Americans would get far better healthcare for a lower cost due to Medicre for All. And once that basis has been established, people who enter the country would get the decent medical assistance they require. The idea behind that is that the vast bulk of them are fleeing terrible conditions (in which US also has a hand, often trough inaction or malignent policies). These people go trough hell to get in the US, and they are only human. Health is a right. It's a matter of humanity. This totally doesn't mean that there would be an open border policy or that any of i would go unchecked, quite on the contrary. But it woul provide far more humane solutions to the current problems. Then again, centrists or right wingers aren't known for their capacity for compassion, humanity or empathy. They love to celebrate how their behaviour is vile towards others. But only until it happens to them or their loved ones, because then all of a sudden they become far bigger snowflakes then the people they love to call snowflakes while terrorizing them.

But the basics of it is that they aren't able to deal with their fears, and because they can't they project this on others who they love to terrorize trought all kinds of different forms of negative behavior. @@unwishfulthink - Polls tend to discount young voters, who traditionally have a low turnout. Those same young voters are a big part of Bernie's base, and they will turn out for him. We need high participation to win the election. Another 'meh' corporate dem like Biden will get us 4 more years of Trump.

@@unwishfulthink - I'm hardly a young voter, as I just turned 50. That said, look at the demographics for most polls. They do not reflect the fact that young people now are way more politically active than the last 2 generations were at their age. We will see what the next few months bring. I suspect that Biden will fade as it becomes obvious that he has no plan to actually get us out of this mess or address the issues that gave us Trump in the first place.

@@steveminer4296 Even with that, a majority of people didn't vote for Hillary Clinton. Less than 50% of people wanted her to be president. Either way, we're talking about the Electoral College. Bill Maher mentioned that Joe Biden is beating Trump in Iowa, implying that he, too, only cares about electability in the swing states. Bernie Sanders may have done better than Trump in the swing states. Trump promised socialism. He said the government will pay for your healthcare. Of course, he was lying, but people want socialism in everything but name, and we need to recognize that.
