UPDATE: I contacted Samsung support and they were able to identify the cause of the issue with apps not installed. Turned out, local ISP was blocking some connections as a part of their 'family security policy' (which is activated by default and without notification). It's possible to deactivate that ISP package, but I went the other way: used international eSIM on my phone, turned on mobile hotspot and connected the monitor to it. This allowed me to finally download the apps. After apps installation I switched back to local ISP, and I can use the apps installed without any issues (though, for new apps or apps update I will have to connect via mobile hotspot again). So, yeah, I'm keeping M8 😄
It’s good to hear the problems you’ve faced and what you’ve had to do to overcome them, I’m seriously considering this monitor but the Colour display is the deal breaker for me at this point, have you tried a monitor Colour calibrator to see if that can help solve the colour accuracy with the screen? Or would u know if it works with this device?
"USER ERROR" bahhaa. So you basically trashed a perfectly good monitor because of your ISP which really had nothing to do with the Samsung M8. You should update and REPLACE the bad video of you not know what you're doing after 5K views telling others the monitor sucked? *Why don't you do a video instead about your suckie ISP instead, lolll. By the way, this is a great example is just because people do reviews doesn't mean they know what they're doing... And not to believe everything you see just because someone puts it on social media.
It's a entertainment device not a work device. Don't buy Samsung M8, if u r lokin for pc monitor, it's a tv only that can be used as monitor. For a programmer its text quality is worst, horrible 😱 and not usefull at all🤬....you will get dispointed 🥺and samsung doesn't get it return just giving reason as device is as per website details.your will loose your money buying this. Instead of smart monitor sumsung should name at Samrt TV that can be used as monitor in emergency only😂.

I had all types of frustrations getting started with this monitor too!!! But each day that goes by, I find more ways it is awesome!!! It is EXACTLY what I was looking for in a home office monitor- AFTER I got the kinks worked out!!!
Thanks for telling! It looks like many M8 users have some problems at first, but prefer to keeping this monitor nevertheless. After browsing for alternatives in the same price range, it seems that M8 is a way to go. It's just so annoying to face the issues, especially when you're in a foreign country.
I got one too six days ago and i'm frustrated with that. For home office it looks really bad, the black color is really poor and the angle viewing is really bad. Could you tell me how could you fix these issues? In the past I got a LG 29WP60G-B monitor with IPS panel at half price and that was much better. In my personal opinion Samsung M8 is 80% TV and 20% monitor.
I get your frustration with M8. The viewing angles and color reproduction are indeed not as strong compared to an IPS panel like the one on LG you've mentioned, as the M8 utilizes a different type of panel technology. However, regarding the black levels, they should be comparable if not better than an IPS display. Maybe that's the settings/calibration issue. Agree with all your complaints. I didn't have any setup issues with my US version but recall it being more of a hassle than it should be to hook up a monitor. Build quality is quite flimsy feeling but I don't really notice it unless I am physically handling it. Had to buy a separate microphone, was getting complaints from the people I called. The VA panel isn't as vibrant as a good IPS panel but I am actually OK with it. Speakers are bad but would have been good enough for my requirements if my Apple keyboard volume adjustment worked with them (not going to blame Samsung for that), so I ended up hooking external speakers. Haven't really use the "Smart" features beyond a brief try-out. I bought this monitor in the neighborhood of Christmas when they were on sale at $400 USD so I am actually OK with the purchase, was really wanting a 32" 4K monitor with USB-C connectivity/Power Delivery.
I was excited about the Samsung M7 & M8 monitors, but in the end, kept my Samsung U32R59C monitor and just got an AppleTV 4K streaming box. So my Intel NUC goes into the display port and the AppleTV uses the HDMI port. I think it's a better solution, as the AppleTV 4K just makes my monitor amazing! Absolutely love it!
I bought one recently and the back panel popped out. This happened Day 1. I went to Samsung’s website and it doesn’t look like they sell the M8 anymore, or I can’t see it. I’ve read about of lot people having issues with it..from power cycling to pixel loss to USB - C input not working. I want to return it but it seems like every good monitor is several weeks out for delivery. I wish Apple’s monitor didn’t cost so much.
Sorry to hear that you've received a defective unit. Seems like Samsung has lots of quality control issues with the M8. I am sure, that Samsung is still selling these. By the way, if you're in the US, they have a 100$ discount on M8 right now, so you can probably return the one you have and get a new one cheaper. Or just return and look for an alternative - maybe something decent will pop up in stock.
they make the monitor so limited that is so hard to get. I only manage to get one after waiting a month. They keep selling m7 and have upgrade the monitor with smar AI which is cheaper but has poor screen quality
Unplug the power cable to reboot if it's stuck and remote buttons aren't working. And maybe try using the phone app for setup. If that doesn't help I suggest contacting Samsung customer service - they were quite helpful with troubleshooting the issue I've had.
Hi, just recently purchased this monitor and has only been a headache when I decided to pair it not with a laptop but a CPU. One thing is my monitor in pc mode is only stuck at 30 hz. I couldn't wrap my head around how to fix it as my gpu is also capable to support it.
In monitor settings navigate to Connection - External device manager. Switch on Input signal plus and for usb c preference select High resolution. This should allow choosing 60 Hz in your PC display settings.

It's a mediocre webcam. As long as you have a good lighting it's ok for zoom calls. Mic isn't great (picks up a bit of weird static noise) - so I would suggest using a separate microphone.
Yeah, perhaps, M8 looks really great. In terms of build quality it doesn't feel cheap, but is is far from anything premium. Little wobble is there, but as for 32" monitor at this price point it's ok. I just don't get how every second blogger out there is telling that Samsung M8 is on par with Apple Studio display.
I have the same color too, very disappointed with the very fragile build quality, I also have amazon fire stik at home and I was surprised that the remote control of the amazon fire stik works on the m8 monitor, turns off, turns on momitor raises and lowers the volume I was amazed! also the quality of the panel I was a little disappointed, a question, to tell you could you tell me if the remote control when you use it turns on the red led? I don't like it, the LED turns on only if it is charging and not while I use it, I saw that while you use it the LED turns on, could you confirm me? thank you
Hi! Thanks for sharing your experience. Yes, remote turns on red led every time you press a button and when charging. It's bright (not way too bright, but noticeable in the darker environments) and led shines through plastic and through button cutouts - so that's impossible to accurately cover it with a duct tape. If you don't mind, could you please tell, if you had language selection available during the setup process and if you had any issues with apps installation? Thank you.
@@NickBorodenko I did not have any problems with the installation I had the availability of all languages so everything went smoothly .... so the red LED always lights up when you use the remote control? the led does not work for me while I use the remote control, but only if it is charging, could you tell me if it always works for you? hindsight I start to think that the remote control is faulty :(

Hi, image is pretty decent. Mic on M8 webcam is very low quality and picks some weird background noise, so I use the microphone built into mac. Oh, and in a low light environment M8 webcam struggles to output a good image. Other than that, no issues.

For sure, this webcam is far from modern Logitech webcams and worse than newer macbooks' 1080p webcams, but it provides a better picture than my m1 macbook air does. So I can't agree it is too outdated.
Oh, my bad. There is a physical switch for mic down on the right side (where the IR for remote is located). Push the monitor up and tilt it - you'll then will see the small black switch underneath.
I have a microsoft surface go as my laptop that I tried to connect with the monitor via hdmi and at first it worked great! Quality was awesome. Now the laptop wont connect via hdmi and the only way to connect it is through easy connect however the quality in easy connect is TERRIBLE! How do I fix that?
That's really weird. I would suggest trying to connect another device to verify, that it's a monitor issue. If it is - reset might help (Settings - All settings - General and Privacy - Reset). If that's the laptop issue reinstalling graphics driver might solve the problem. If your laptop connects via cable but you're getting worse image quality - try changing device type - Sources - select the one connected to HDMI - Edit - PC. P.S. Sorry for the delayed response.
Hi! Thanks for the advice! Yes, that did help a bit. Plus tilted the monitor and lifted a chair. With all that combined webcam angle is mostly OK. P.S. Maybe Samsung's target audience for this webcam was basketball players and I'm just too short 😅
Ahh I’m glad that helped a bit though! I have my few learning curves as well. After having it for more than two weeks, i can finally say im confident with the monitor. The worst part for me was color collaboration with connected to the cord. Looked online everywhere and found one but hers was ridiculous. Luckily i just bit the bullet and dove right in myself with expert settings and now my monitor is now matching with my iPad Pro. Phew! Luckily I’m camera and photo editing savvy to figure that one out. I really do love this monitor once i get the hang of it. Now the only thing that i wish would be better is the remote. It’s a bit laggy for my constant need for speed.
Wow, great job at matching the colors to iPad. Did you change anything at white balance controls? I know, all the monitors are unique, but maybe your settings can help me finally match the colors with a macbook (if you don't mind sharing your parameters, of course). Yeah, I know how it feels using fast refresh rate screen along with a slower one side by side. I had a laptop with 144 Hz and monitor with 60 Hz - ended up setting both of them to 60 Hz. Might not be a good idea for an iPad though, if you're using it to draw with Apple pencil. By the way, thanks for taking time and sharing your experience!
Yeah went through everything , white valence , gamma controls , etc . Just a heads up , when it’s connected to a cord it saves those settings for the iPad device to monitor. But when it’s on airplay everything isn’t applied to all sources . Not sure why that is . But for now I’m okay with connecting it and using those settings . Do you have an email ? I’m thinking of perhaps sending a video. Or maybe just images.

Hi Nick, thanks for the video. I got mine and while setting it up, it went off forever and I had to send it back. The adaptor died after 20 seconds of setting process. They initially didn’t want to return it but I had to fight and got it replaced from another branch. The issues I’m facing now are: 1- when checking the wireless internet speed on my phone it shows 550+ mbs however on M8 it doesn’t exceed 50 mbs “using the same website”, any idea what the issue is? 2- using the internet, it always lags and slow, for example when playing a RU-vid video on internet “not the app” and I want to pause, it take a couple of seconds until it pauses, do you face the same? Hi! Sorry to hear that you've faced such problems. Good job on standing up for your consumer rights and getting a replacement though. I just wish Samsung improved M8 quality control. 1. Internet speed is 50-75 download and ~10 upload on M8 compared to 110-150 download and ~10 upload on the phone. This doesn't have a noticeable impact on viewing experience though, including streaming 4K content. 2. RU-vid playback (both FullHD and 4K) works fine using Samsung's browser, starts and stops without any lag.
Well, I still ended keeping it 😅 Samsung support helped in fixing issue with apps not installing. And Sarah here in the comments shared her experience with matching colors to the iPad - thanks to that I was able to bring M8's colors much closer to Macbook. Still a VA panel with its downsides, still some minor bugs - but overall it is not that bad for the price. Just make sure to check your sample if you decide to buy M8, as there seems to be a lot of defective units.
🤬 Seems like Samsung's quality control went on vacation or something. I just don't know, why there are so many clearly defective units of M8 being sold.
