Nice vid! I just bought the 1.55x Anamorphic and have ordered the Motion Variable ND filter, so I'm looking forward to using these! Question; have you found the most recent updates to Filmic Pro to be worse than the previous versions, because I've seen a lot of reviews lamenting the changes. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max and am wondering if that would make any difference if there are issues with the latest iteration. Thanks for the videos and any input you might have!
Congratulations on you new Sandmarc gear! 🔥 Regarding Filmic Pro I haven’t had any issues with the performance and stability so far. I’m absolutely loving it! Hope you have a smooth experience!
May the force be with you !!!! I have a iphone 12 pro. Hope to get 15 one day. But in the mean time, can you please recommend Anamorphic Lens that can fit this model and take insane crisp pictures? What type? I checked out sandmarc site but everything was for new model iphones?
I recently purchased a DJI OM4 and currently looking into buying a Sandmarc lens & filter I mainly shoot pictures & videos of cars and sometimes nature as well when I go hiking. you think their Wide Hybrid Edition package will be a good choice? I got an iPhone 11 Pro Max btw
I am actually using this setup with the 12 pro max and the OM4 is handling it like a champ. Make sure you balance the phone while on standby! Hope this helps! 🤘🏼
hello EMT, thank you so much for your video and your tips ! I am a beginner and i have 3 questions concerning the use of this lens with an iphone 13 pro: 1) if i am right the anamorphic lens is mounted on the wildest lens of the iphone and it will change the final ratio aspect of the video, so i ask myself , how will i mix during the editing the images shot with the two other lenses of the iphone that are not anamorphic ? 2) which gumble do you advice me to buy ? 3) which software do you use ? thank you so much for your help ! best romain
@@EMTFILMS I'm totally new to photography, I don't even upload pics to Facebook but I think I understand now. I'm gonna go on vacation in a couple of weeks and I'm interested in buying this lens and I'm also considering buying a pretty nice drone. I think I figured it out and know what you mean, the filmic app actually lets you see the finished product in that aspect ratio and if you used your native camera you would have to go through that process yourself after in an editing program like after effects or davinci resolve. Being honest with you, 4 days ago I had never heard of iso, nd filter, shutter speed, etc, lol. Man I felt so lost because I didn't even know the basics, like I said , I never thought about what goes into taking a nice pic. It seemed so damn confusing and I felt lost but I think everyone is like that at first. Now at least in theory I've learned a bit about frame rates, shutter speed, aperture, etc in a 3 day crash course!!! Thank you very much and yes I have filmic pro I just wanted to know why you would need an app. Thanks
Don't buy this!!! I just purchased this lens and it's a robbery. First off, if you have the filmic pro app you don't need this, I'll explain. I got my SANDMARC and was excited to try it out so I used filmic pro with it. I took a video and it looked exactly like it looked when I used just the filmic app. Then I said it might be my imagination, it HAS to look better so I tried another video. I recorded the same thing, same length video, same lighting with and without the lens and the video that I got from just the filmic pro app looked exactly the same as with the lens. If it looks the same and exports the same why would I spend $172.39( I purchased the 1.55x)? I feel so dumb for buying this but I'm gonna return it. Also did I mention that while I used the SANDMARC there was a shadow in the left side through the video? It appeared and disappeared whenever I panned to one side. Unless I'm doing something wrong. Just buy the filmic pro app and you don't need that gimmick. I still have hopes I'm doing something wrong though.
Great review. I just got my Sandmarc 1.33 Anamorphic. I used Filmic Pro set at 24fps 1/48 with 1.33 image adjustment. The footage came out weird with foreground and background making strange movement which is not pleasing to the eye. What am I doing wrong here?
Yep, the issue with anamorphic lenses (that many omit/forget to say) - they are extremely vulnerable to shaking movement and will bend the image. So generally speaking - you need to turn off all of the internal stabilization in the phone and use an external stabilized gimbal for best performance.
I’m dumping my moment lenses and going with Sandmarc. 4 lenses. I am also looking to get the OM5 gimbal. What is your experience with how that gimbal will handle the weight of the 1.55 anamorphic.
Fantastic! It however requires a bit of balancing before turning on but once you get the sweet spot it performs very well. Limit fast movements when using a heavier setup. Hope this helps!
Hi, I discovered your channel with this video and I really like it: the examples, the style, your way of speaking (super-clear and direct)! Are there any big differences in terms of image quality between 1.33 and this 1.55 lens? Greetings from Italy
Do you think Filmic Pro is worth it for the cost? Looks like they have in app purchases as well. Can you use it with decent results with other apps (the lens)?
100% Filmic Pro is definitely worth it. Just the separate focus and exposure options are value enough in my opinion. Gimbal integration as well as hardware support for lenses and LOG profiles are extremely powerful if your looking for that level of control. Home this helps! Here's a video I made a while ago on its features. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9OsQwRIWDZk.html
@@EMTFILMS great video!! I’m tempted! I saw you used a Moment Anamorphic lens in that video. How does that compare to the Sandmarc? Does the Sandmarc phone case add much protection?
@@Parrothed5150 the moment anamorphic is a great option as well but the color and weight of the new Sandmarc is my favorite so far. Also the fact that I can switch to portrait without any tools is fantastic. The Sandmarc case is thin and light. Not the best protection but the best for gimbals and accessories if trying to keep a thing profile. They also have a pro case with magsafe for better protection. 🤘🏼
I didn’t use any counterweights. The OM4 carried it like a champ. There is balancing before turning on but nothing crazy other than sliding the phone so theres more body to the right.
Hello! I love your channel and content. How do you get the blur effect behind you when doing your videos? Is it possible to get the same effect while doing lives on social media? Thanks.
Glad you liked it! The filter is 18 grams and the lens is probably in the 30-40 grams. Not sure on that one but the DJI OM4 was able to carry both with the 12 Pro Max. 🤘🏼
Filmic Pro automatically does this but it seems like a vertical de squeeze. I end up with a 4030 x 1462 resolution video when using the 1.55x preset and 3840 x 2160 when turning off the preset. Hope this helps!
Thank you for the review. Unfortunately the IQ of all these lenses is so bad, specially in the corners. I think to use an extra lens that literally destroys the image quality of your footage, makes no sense. I believe these lenses are absolutely not designed to use with newer phones that have larger sensors, most specially with the iPhone 12 Pro Max that has a sensor that has a wider view, is physically much bigger size and moves around. These optics are simply not a match.
Totally agree. I have Moment lenses. With an iPhone 12 Pro the picture is somehow okayish but worse than with an 11 Pro. But with an iPhone 12 Pro Max the lenses are not useable. Nice video though :).
