Because you guys are sharing your tricks, I will share with you a trick that works good in any part of the country at any time of the year and best of all it will not cost you anything. Have you ever noticed that after you first put in a food plot, there's nothing growing yet and the plot is full of deer tracks! Deer a very curious animals, and fresh dirt can mean many things to a deer, (new food source, scrape, their home was changed in some way). Here is the trick; Carry a 3 prong scratcher in your pack, (like the one used for gardening); where you want a deer to stop, freshly scratch up a circle of dirt about 3 feet in diameter and around inch deep, the more moist the soil the better, every deer that can smell the fresh dirt will come and check it out; you need to do this every time that you go to your stand and only takes seconds to accomplish. This works especially well during the Rut.

Most detergents out there (hunting ones too) are overly measured for a load of clothing…which leads to detergent being left behind and not washed out…leaving the smell he says behind. All to sell more product. One, Sport Wash by Atsko, doesn’t and washes out clean (no brightener too). However, I’ve found 7th Generation detergent (available at most grocery stores)…is basically the same thing….no artificial chemicals…no brightener and no scent or dyes…all natural detergent. It’s about $12 for over a gallon and about one ounce is all you need for a xtra large load of laundry. A jug will last NUMEROUS SEASONS. Gets blood out well too.

This is fun to watch! I have done so many crazy things over the years to try and win over the nose of a deer. God made their noses too good 😂 All those years I was in a tree and bottom line is...if your scent makes it to their nose, it's over. Now I hunt on the ground with one of my kids at a time, play the wind as best I can and enjoy the hunt!!! I no longer worry myself with all the time and hocus pocus etc,etc. I wear clothes more than once, may or may not take a shower and enjoy life 😅 I get bucks every year and my kids are as well!!! Got my biggest bodied deer last season! I enjoy it so much more now without all the work and time to get ready!!! Play the wind best you can and enjoy!!! I do wear rubber boots that I keep in a bag so deer won't smell my trail, never touch the bottom and put on when leaving the vehicle! Works great! Our bodies are always producing scent into the air, including our breath so... Kind of like not spreading the coronavirus, good luck 😂 Have a great season and always read Gods word, the BIBLE!!!

Walnuts have ALOT of aroma that really is pretty strong for you guys in non walnut parts of the country. Red cedar branches ground up, works well also especially if you heat it to a boiling then let cool. Nice video...I'll keep watching you.

I collect acorns and boil them for awhile then run the water through a filter into a spray bottle and would spray my outerwear with it before I headed out to my deer stand. All my base layers, socks, and face mask are stored in an airtight bin with a few small boxes of baking soda that’s also been washed out with water and baking soda until the “plastic smell” has been removed. 100% success.

Where I hunt in GA we have mostly pines, I use pine sap and dirt, rub it on my cloths, works real well. On my way to the stand I have to cross my horse pasture, so I'll step in fresh manure to cover my scent trail to my stand. I've got city boys that hunt around me spending good money on sprays, mine cost nothing but the time it takes to rub it on.

I’m new to hunting and I may be way off here, but wanted to share a trick I learned from a great hunter around where I live, he puts his clothes & sometimes wears them around a fire pit the night before (camping or at home), and also, he leaves his clothes outside so they pick up the outdoor scent before he wears them to hunt the next day. He also told me to take local tree leaves and even dirt and put it in the plastic bag or the container I store my clothes in. It masks other artificial orders away and gives the clothes a natural one that the deer is used to smelling around those woods. Anyone tried this before? If so, does it really work? What other tips can u help me with please? Thanks

I tried putting dirt and pine needles and some pine sap in my container that I keep my hunting clothes in it works but if you don’t won’t any dirt on your clothes you can get fresh earth scent wafers I put those in with my clothes once I wash them and dry them I then put the wafers in my container and close it up it works I have been hunting deer for 35 years and I do a lot of ground hunting for deer and have had deer with in 5 yards and never smell me I usually start preparing by not using any deodorant that has a scent and taking baths with scent killer soap about a month before the season starts and no cologne until after hunting season.

Tell you another trick, when your out at your property, lease or hunting club, after you work days, leave your sweat clothes in the woods about 50 yards from your stand location. They get used to smelling you all the time in the woods and won't spook when they smell you during hunting season.

@mrpush2532
@mrpush2532 Год назад
Ok so then do you hold your breath while you hunt? Sent control is mostly nonsense. Your breath is more than enough to spook off any deer. You can't mask your scent enough that they can't smell you. Only something super strong, like skunk scent, that overwhelms the scent receptors, and really cold weather gives u a chance. You need scent control by where the wind is blowing your scent.

I made some for this season after watching this video. Much appreciated. I ordered some sodium benzoate (preservative) online and added it to my batch. I’ve had a spray bottle sitting outside for about a week now and it’s fine. Plus a couple gallons in the fridge. All the commercial sprays have preservatives, so I thought I’d give it a try. Seems to be working. I hunt on the ground, and had one enter my lane about 10y from me on his way to a little bait I had out at 20y. Never spooked. He ate for about 15 minutes then walked off into the woods. Not the one I was looking for, but I felt like it was a good test run for the cover scent with the added preservatives. I’ll make this every year now. Thanks again!

Hunter's detergent, dryer with descenting sheets, hang dry outside overnight then in bin with the floor lined with debris from the woods I hunt (dirt, branches, twigs, acorns, barks, pine cones, etc...). I've pulled my hunting clothes a year after putting them in there and they still smell like the woods. I'll only re-wash them during the season "if" I've hunted on a particularly hot day and sweated in my gear or after I've dragged something out of the woods. $10 a year and it's never failed me. I've had deer literally brush up against me while I was sitting on a stump in the dark.

Some of the saw dust went down in my boots and caused severe blisters, which ruptured on the second day, and took a couple weeks to heal. Let me simplify this, wash your clothes in your scent control, then put them in a trash bag with baking soda for two to three days then take them out put them in a bag of soil where you hunt and leaves. The walnut hull is a trapper secret.

You can also just put walnuts into an old potato sack and stick them in with your clothes in a tote, and the clothes absorb the scent and not stain them

I thought about doing this with coffee. But im not sure if it will spook instead of conceal. The indians used to use pine needles and wood smoke.
