Cool update but no one was really asking for a DIY overhaul. Session devs have been disappointing the long-lasting pre 1.0 fans for a while now, and I feel like this most recent update has cemented a disdain from the community for not bringing attention to the things people have been constantly asking for for over a year- things like Improved transition skating, grabs, goofy stance, and open lobby freeskate.

I bought Session years ago when the map was crazy-small and played for a handful of hours before being far too frustrated with it to continue. Fast forward to getting a new computer and I figured I would give it a whirl and I was impressed with some things, but there are still certain things that are pretty much a disaster. Getting on and off your board is terrible. Half the time my skater will just continue to run when I click to get on the board. The animations for it are terrible too. I wish you could hold the board by the nose as you throw it down and have the tail scrape the ground for a second. Could also have the triggers control your hands and arms while on foot, but that sounds like a lot of work probably. The walking overall seems janky. Some games seem to do that on purpose so maybe this is just the style they're shooting for. Another small gripe I have is the corny feel of the city. It feels like I'm skating in a Fallout universe with all the barriers and police cars littering every block. Just removing the overflowing number of them would help a lot imo. No drop ins on vert is criminal. They seem in over their heads as far as transition skating goes, so I wish they focused on getting that smooth before adding stuff like FDR park or just calling it a street skating sim.

@@173jaSon371 Calling it a "STREET" Skating Sim would definitely, at least, give them some sort of verbal defense against the transition-related gripes everyone has with the game, but they've chosen to stick to their guns by calling it an 'all-aspects-of-skating' Skate Sim. I feel like this is their attempt to keep the idea of transition open to improvement whilst also not having to commit to any real changes. Not gonna lie, I havent played Session in months because of this. Unlike the Pre-1.0 days, the Devs now really seem to favor only updating the game in ways that would bring them the most revenue as opposed to actually improving the game. I get it, game developers need to prioritize making money to further development, however when you abandon the original passion for the game in exchange for money, you might as well have never even started. The fans will not support that behavior, and they aren't. Their daily playercount is dropping rapidly since their peak count during the Ninja Turtles update. I havent even played it since then. I decided to try out XL since I was able to play it with friends, and while it is a very high-maintenance game (in the sense of modding, to make it playable), I still think it beats Session in terms of a COMPLETED game. If Session were to iron out ALL the kinks and lack-ofs, it wouldnt even be a competition. Session had the potential to become the greatest Skating game ever made so far, but chose to squander it in hopes for more money. Greed is soulless and bares no fruit in longevity.

I love the object dropper overhaul and am looking forward to the next iterations as I am really enjoy bulding my local parks❤ My addition to the current version would be to use the left and right shoulder buttons to duplicate the currently selected object to a specific side. Both buttons aren't used yet and currently its a bit tricky aligning copings, rails or boxes together. This would speed up building larger parks although having snap features like Satisfactory has would be a dream but not a must ;)

@@Bill_Dippertly it is a good game, I put over 800 hours in it before 1.0. But then their updates changed to much and could no longer do tricks or combos that I could do before 1.0. And last few updates haven't fixed anything they broke. The gameplay is still solid, I just can't skate like I use too.

@TheGethigh420 This actually depends on when you first bought the game cause old save files didn’t get updated. If you recently got the game (after April) then it will be on the RIGHT ledge. If you got the game Prior to April, it’s on the left. But either way it needs to be done in Regular stance and Nollie Fs 180. Make sure you release sticks before inputting the 5050 (do left stick Down, right stick Up for 5050)

Would've been really nice with the snap things together function, and/or a "fine tuning" button when connecting stuff. Otherwise the DIY-dropper works great now! I've build an entire park in the parking lot at the water park, which is now the coolest thing on the map lol. Enjoying the game and your content as always! (btw I miss grabs)

I hope going forward you guys don’t make unnecessary changes such as making the security light dim (I don’t usually skate at night but when I did I used that and now it’s kinda useless because it’s like the construction lamp lol). And since there’s been added space for DIY items please do the same for clothing as well. Makes no sense to have 7 or more variants of items and can only store 5 at a time. Very cumbersome to have to sale/delete items for a $1 instead of increasing space for more.

YEEEA MY FAVORITE FEATURE WAS IMPROVED! i love when my "scutures " will spread in diferent maps. so my veredict i think i give a 8/10 about this update that some reasons: 1> select all the objects its a big diference in this update, more fast and easier to rush my scultures 2 i dont like the fact we need press LT OR L2 for move the axisis of the object but by the other side but give me more freedon to move more faster the object without press to find the axisis what you want move( this its was a suck cuz im dumb to remember ) 3> more objects of course its welcome but i missed the objects with some grafics or scrachtes or waxed. 4 > put in time real you put the object dropper builts its is sick. 5> i really wanna know why dont have a more completely tutorial lessions for manual catch mode, im a veteran player but most commons coments with the novices was session dont learn this stuffs when you started a costumize your style of skateboarding. 5> need to fix some things in mode story .example: put the button skip in cutscenes, speedruners suffer a lot with this, dont registering some tricks in some missions, mission dane, 5050 to kickflip over the fence in the region brokllin banks. thanks for the support in your videos JL i miss you a lot with more distracted videos, but i understand now you are in the cra ture studios and have much work to do.

If this game continues being developed, 1 cool addition would be being able to customize your own skateboard deck like how you could create car wraps/skins in Forza games. I'm sure some talented people would be able to re-create pro model decks in it or you could toss your own name on one or just a cool graphic. I also think having the triggers control your hands would be sick while on foot, but obviously that seems like a lot of work. Imagine if you could buy wax and wax up a ledge to slide more? Once again, sounds like a ton of work that'd come after fixing current issues lol. If you could move your arm forward and backward with the triggers for each arm, once you click the trigger your sticks could then be used to move side to side.

The next update you guys do you should add a big flat surface that way if we want to build like a custom Park in the sky or over the water we have a big flat surface we could lay down and you know build a park on. I think it'd be pretty cool. And now I'm not saying like a stadium size flat surface but maybe like a basketball court or a small parking lot. That would be pretty cool. I know there's thousands of different things you can skate and with all the objects and stuff you can make a pretty good skate park. But I think it'd be pretty cool to start from nothing. And set up your own park. Unless you guys are going to add a create a park map. That would be awesome. And I know on PC you can do all this crap but for consoles

I’ve logged the feedback of having those items always be unlocked. Not sure if there is a deeper reason for them needing to be locked tho but the feedback has been noted to the team :)

Good update. I hope in the future they can improve something about the stiffness of the skater’s movement when pushing and doing tricks. I will keep buying every DLC they release to support the devs.

@ThaGreatKhali …. No… still paid. It’s a trial period to see if the person is the right fit for the job and can complete tasks that Session requires completing. This is standard in any business when you start a new job where if it doesn’t work out within the probation period, the employee can be let go. Also I’ve only ever seen the smallest tweaks to animation “fixes”, nothing major like what needs to be done.

I just hope this game gets online mode even if it's just freeskate. The only gameplay issues i have noticed are the game doesn't register your tricks properly for missions. Small bails are over exaggerated. Other than that my only complaint is we can't even join a server and skate with ppl. All they need is maps and prox chat don't even need any modes off the bat

Tbh I really like the idea of the update with being more open with the object dropper and with the mall but haven't played it yet...just disappointed we didn't get like a Halloween outfit like the ninja turtles and liquid death man would have been cool to have a Scream outfit or pumpkin head lol but still glad to see the game getting love and care 👍🏼🔥

It just seems that they are in fact working on another project with the small amount of fixes we are seeing added to Session at this point. If that is the case I wish they would say so.

I’m just wondering how hard it actually is to animate a few throw downs and different bails and falls? I’m not an animator by any means but if I were building a game and didn’t have these simple realistic things in said game I would probably just try and do it myself..but, then again..wtf do I know..lol

@@travisboone6383Yeah. At this point they don’t even need to be perfect just get SOMETHING in for those animations so we can throw down or caveman at least. Then you can iterate on those and make them better. Riders Republic has great animations on their new skateboarding add on, poach that guy.

For those of us who bought the game at full price we’d be buying the game again by the time we pay for these maps. Price is too high for what it is. I would get a bundle for like $14.99 but everything $7.99, $12.99, etc etc meanwhile game is now $17.99. Starting to feel like a pay to play.

Did they change the camera settings? I always used to manually hit the d pad to change sides and now it seems I can't do that? I'm only allowed auto switch or not and it won't let me just manually switch the camera side to side so idk if I'm missing something since my settings got reset

If you have a mission tracked on screen, you can’t change camera. Click Left Stick to take the mission hud off screen

Its kind of super lame that to trigger the objectives we have to do things in such a specific way. The coolest part of skateboarding is how different skaters are and how people do tricks differently.

Well… these are Historical Challenges based on the IRL tricks that were performed at these spots so the same tricks have to be performed. It’s part of the history of the spots. Some tricks can be done in either stance but some locations and tricks must be done the exact way the original skater did them

@arbyscurlyfries9490 it’s because that extra input messes up the trick registration for some reason. We aren’t sure why some missions have this extra input issue.. bone Ollie isn’t even a separate trick that gets registered so it’s not like it’s registering another trick instead of Ollie.

man love these updates JL!! can i suggest something?!? with the board wear and tear setting, it gives you a default board everytime you snap the one you just paid for. little annoying. i have come to terms with just skating the blank orange board 😂😂… next update maybe haha 😇

Yo what’s going on with this game. It’s radio silence all of a sudden. Are we gonna get any game fixes or game improvements? Correct trick names? Transition skating? Is this game dead in the water? I really hope not cause XL is garbage and Skate looks like a casual arcade nightmare!

Uhhhh like i cant justify it. Gta is scumm in know along with cod or any other micro transaction hungry game. But with them at least, its either cosmetic orrrr at least can technically be earned if you can grind that. I dont think sessions has any system implemented. Idk i could Be wrong. I hope im wrong. I hope they arent technically FORCING ME to pay more in order to play more… cant wait for skate 4 and to be done with chore of a game😂

Because they can’t publicly say that all the talented people that were working on innovation for this game left the company. Basically. On top of nobody in any prominent position wants to take a pay cut to hire the right people because it’s not important enough to them.
