I have both of these (was actually able to order the Air prior to release). Yes very similar but I do feel the sound signature on the original OpenFit to be a fair amount better. That’s mainly due to the ability to create a custom EQ profile, which of course isn’t possible on the Air. Bottom line - if someone already has original OF, there’s really no reason to get the Air. But with that excellent price point on the Air, that makes sense for Shokz to bring out that model, to get more users at that excellent price.

Sticking with Openfit original. Your mic test convinced me to put my money back in my pocket. Noise control was better with original.

I really like the OpenFit. But I was surprised how much better the Huawei FreeClips sound.

I own both and even tho the freeclips have more clarity, they really lack in the volume department I can use the openfit in the subway perfectly fine , not the case with the free clips Unusable in the subway

@dariov5288 Hmm, haven't tested that but I believe it since the unit is so much larger. But I never use the FreeClip on max volume so for me that's not a problem. But the subway, you mean with all the noise there? Wouldn't an in-ear option make more sense for that environment?

BUYER BEWARE: Shokz does not offer replacements components if they get lost. You will have to buy a whole new set if you lose an ear piece or charging case.

Am I crazy for preferring the banded version of bone conduction headphones? Peace of mind knowing I won’t lose one, easier to put on and take off, and are totally comfortable to just hang around the neck when not in use. I can’t be the only one seeing this right? Right?

I second this, one full charge lasts 8 hours which is enough for the whole day of work. I don't have to take it off and put in a case when I'm not using it I just drop it into my neck. One last thing in the pockets.

I got both to try out, the OpenFit original sounds better than the OpenFit Air to me, and the mic quality is way better on the OG

Since it is remotely related to ear hook design try Ifi Go Pod it is decent! my combo is CA Pathfinder and Blackstar source Sony nwzx707 and mkV yeah overkill 🙄 but when everything is put together a new reason to use old wired IEMs as wireless take it-anywhere factors let me know not many app fringes or ANC! Bloody it drives even my JH audio Jolene 😂 when you have a good ear seal you don't need ANC I use it in the gym!

How many devices can each store, my qc35 can store 8 devices and connect to 2 simultaneously.

I tired the OpenFit and have had many issues intermittent dropping during songs and sounding garbled robotic on phone calls. Have you experienced either of these issues on the OpenFit or OpenFit Air?

Not sure why shokz give so few control options on these. Its not nice having to choose between track controls and volume control or media controls. They need to provide more control options in this day and age when the competition gives more control options.

You can actually control, for example, swiching to the next music on the right ear, and pause/play on the left one with double tap. And as for volume you can use long press on the left to turn down and long press on the right to turn up. That's what i use.

@@tactac1572 Yes but with respect to what the competition offers say the Tozo openbuds which is much lower in price the shokz don't seem to match up with what is given as control options.
