One thing that's really easy to miss and super useful for analyzing benchmark trailers and job action trailers are the different colored swirls/flashes around characters' feet. There's a noticeable blue swirl at the start of oGCD abilities, a subtler yellow flash for Weaponskills, and neither for spells, since spells usually have their own casting animations/effects. Below is a list of the ones I think are most notable! -GNB's is oGCD, likely a Fated Circle continuation proc. -SMN didn't have a blue flash, which means it's not likely to be a Fester upgrade - Ramuh hype? -MNK's second new move has a yellow flash (I had to go full CSI zoom enhance mode to see it) so it's not likely to be a Forbidden Chakra upgrade. -RDM's blue swirl is very visible, so it's not a 7th combo step (thank Hydaelyn). I'm predicting a Contre Sixte upgrade, potentially alongside a Fleche upgrade? -SAM's is, very notably, oGCD, which means it's not that Ikishoten-based Iajutsu upgrade. My best guess is a Shoha thing, but I really have no idea. -DRK uses 3 brand new GCD attacks in the last portion. After the Bloodspiller Happy pointed out, there's a thrust attack, the uppercut attack, and then a big overhead slam. The second and third have visible yellow flashes, but the thrust attack starts off-screen and is obscured by the WHM thing, so it's hard to tell. Importantly, Hard Slash and Siphon Strike are visible earlier in the dungeon portion, so if they are an upgrade to the base combo, it's conditional in some way. As a DRK main, I'm pumped about any of the hundred things this could be! -RPR's new thing doesn't have either color flash, so it appears to be a spell. My best guess is that it's Communio related. -The BRD in the trailer uses a Burst Shot right before this new thing, but the new thing itself doesn't have either flash. I hesitate to say this new attack is classified as a Spell, so I think it could've just been an oversight or something. -Viper's blue mode activation had the yellow flash, which implies a GCD. Given the fact that sticking the swords together is also a GCD, it'll be interesting to see how this job's rotation flows. The scope of this youtube comment got a little bloated, haha. If you're gonna take anything away from this (especially Happy, if you're reading this!), remember the yellow flash for weaponskills, the blue swirl for oGCDs, and the lack of a flash for spells, especially as we wait for the job action trailer (and especially with all these upgrades!)

The warrior ability showcased has the same animation as Vengeance. The rushing animation could just be the same you see in duties when an NPC rushes to a spot for a specific mechanic

the GNB thing is an oGCD (you can see the blue oGCD aura on the ground before the animation) so 99% chance it's just a Continuation proc off of Fated Circle

RPR: if you slow down you can see right before the new ability that the RPR is just comming back from the communio animation: then after the new ability the shroud wears off: to me: we have a new shroud finisher/leaver ability: communio is our characters finisher followed up by this new void sent / avatar finisher which i assume you need communio to cast as a direct follow up before in enshroud you had 2x gcd character attacks (void/cross reaping) grant you 1x void sent off gcd lemure slice now it looks like as an addition 1x character finisher (communio) grants you 1x void sent finisher. (commuino will not make you leave shroud anymore, the new void finisher will / since its a direct follow up to communio, you dont need to do your full enshroud combo (reaping/slice) to access it

Considering we have double Enshrouds in the rotation, I always believed the 2nd one would get some type of upgrade. Like Communio being your 1 min finisher and a new 2 min finisher.

It definitely has the same aesthetic as Lemure's slice and Lemure's scythe with the crystals coming out of the ground and the voidsent claws, so to me there's no doubt it's a new ogcd that uses that one last void shroud we can't currently use, probably in Gluttony's place as Lemure slice and scythe replace Cross and Grim reaping during enshrouded.

Done a bit of animation research on the WHM ability. It's the same base animation as the casted healing spells, whereas the Afflatus spells put the staff up, and their other hand all the way down to their waist. So I think this may actually be a Medica upgrade of some sort

DRG becoming more Attuned to Nidhogg makes no sense lore wise, most of these new moves seem like they should be Exclusive to Estinien, if anything we should be more attuned to Hraesvelgr.

@@nastycrimeboy9138yes and no? The thing that made the WoL dragoon different than estinien is while estinien gain power from nidhogg’s eye, we gain our power from the armor of the first dragoon. Honestly if anything, the WoL dragoon should have a combination of both nidhogg and hrasvelgar for the very simple fact that we actually still have hrasvelgar one eye inside of us

I think the second monk ability they show is almost guaranteed to be a twin snakes visual change. It does the same two handed strike and has a lot of those like shadowy dark line things. Looks incredible!

I think Monk might be getting its basic GCDs upgraded during Perfect Balance, the new flashy effects with more potency or some such. Would probably be a bit much for every Twin Snakes to look like that (at least it looks very much like Twin Snakes to me).

DRK looks like he got something like the PLD got in endwalker. As instead of spamming blood spiller DRK now follow with a special combo. you can see a first new move that look like a thrust behind the WHM animation, then the cross slash then a third move with 3 slashes ending with the dark blades shooting from the ground.

That WHM heal is 100% just a Medica 2 upgrade, I'd bet my life savings on it And DRK appears to have a new 3 hit combo. The DRK does a Bloodspiller, then 3 GCDs one after the other. The first skill was a thrust, second was an upward slash, final was a downward slash. Its probably not a replacement for their current 123 combo, because Siphon Strike and Hard Slash were in the trailer.

@@saladv3028 That's vaguely what I'm hoping for. Especially with the combo being red and black in it's colour, which could well mean it's associated with Darkside always having been red in both the old stance, as well as the aura.

Those monk skills look like they are based on four beast lords. The second one looks like a tiger head with Byakko's black aura marks after the attack. Which would make the fire looking forbidden chakra attack could be based on Suzaku.

I saw someone in chat last night say that RDM's ability comes after Embolden which you can see in the background. However, that makes Embolden weirder than it already is since you already have to use it part way through your first melee combo to be able to make it last through 2 sets of finishers, and throwing something in the middle of that just makes Embolden feel worse unless they make it like Searing Light for SMN and last 30sec. That, or they just rework Embolden altogether, which would be interesting

You can see Zwerchhau going off before that (10:30 - 10:40), but then you get the "jump off chocobo" clip so it might not be perfectly sequential.... but if it is, RDM might be using Embolden after Verholy/Verflare at max level. Of course, it could also be an oGCD and they're treating it like an GCD to avoid canceling the animation for the benchmark.

It's important to note that the RDM ability has the blue-ish aura around the character that's indicative of oGCD abilities. So it's likely that it's an oGCD.

I don't think that can be an aoe upgrade for sage because their aoe is self targeted and that looked targeted at the enemy. Toxicon makes sense

yes give summoner ramuh , shiva and leviathan and it can even work good with its current rotation when he summons bahamut or phonix its switches the 3 standard summon option so after bahamut ifrit titan and garuda and after phonix ramuh leviathan and shiva

@@hundset I'm in 2 camps right now: 1) They used Bloodspiller just before doing that combo, so maybe Bloodspiller triggers a new 1-2-3 combo (perhaps stacks of it if Delirium is unchanged and you still spam BS a lot). 2) Delirium has been reworked completely in to a 3-step GCD combo instead of 3 free Bloodspillers.

The animation at 3:10 in the distance is Dragoon's Chaotic Spring. You can see the flower petals at the end. Once it zooms in, you can see the Dragoon behind it.

It seems the ability that Wuk Lamat does is an upgraded version of Vengeance. It's the same animation with the axe being flung around into the shoulders but with a new effect.

The second machinist chainsaw I think is a drill upgrade. Drill stops at the enemy model and then punches through, and the new chainsaw does the same thing. Also during the samurai and machinist part, very easy to miss, but there's a warrior doing the old Skull Sunder animation

The whm is definitely casting, you can see the green spiral pure heal casting animation around them. Same with the astro.

Definitely looking like aoe attack is a theme of DT, be it new abilities entirely or upgrades to existing ones, not to say they all are Gonna be real interesting to see what the healer ones are, and of course whatever their plan is for DRG’s rework given this Nidhogg thing

Maybe the map thing in the beginning is a new emote for either "Decipher map" or for when you go looking for it. It would honestly surprise me a lot if they put this much detail into it, but they've surprised me with a few things in the past.

The Warrior ability towards the end has the exact same animation as Vengeance, but different particle effects. It'd be odd for me if they re-use an animation for a new ability, or if they retool vengeance or make it have some additional effect. Also I don't think Dark Knight is getting a replacement upgrade to their souleater combo, I saw Hard Slash, or at least Syphon Strike earlier in that dungeon... maybe it's an "unlocked" combo, like instead of Delirium giving you three bloodspillers and quietuses maybe it's now a brand new combo. Hard to say. I'd prefer a baseline second combo myself, to change up the gcd playstyle between burst.

One thing about the WAR animation we saw: The animation Wuk Lamat does is exactly the same as Vengeance. All the effects and whatnot are new and different, but the actual character is just doing Vengeance

I had a discussion with my FC on potential new skills for DT and one that came up that I meantioned was that we'd get continuation on fated circle for GNB. That looks to be what this is.

As a GNB main, I'm happy for that. Gives me something to burn cartridges on when dealing with AoE. (Does mean I'll have to put Continuation on my AoE skill bar but w/e) I do wish we got a defensive cartridge spender - And I REALLY hope they just upgrade the skills we get in the single target space, because cramming in something else in the No Mercy window is going to be pain and suffering. Media tour stuff in about a month though! Can't wait.

Regarding the SAM, yes that's an Ikishoten that precedes the move, the red aura is a clear giveaway. The move shown is most likely an upgrade to Ogi Namikiri, since it's already a conal AoE. What is more interesting is the follow-up attack after that was Gekko, not Kaeshi Namikiri or its upgrade. So the question would be, do they change Ogi into a single huge potency move or simply opted not to show the follow up?

One possibility is maybe Kenki is used to upgrade your Iaijutsus now. Maybe the Samurai gained their Kenki from Ikitosen and since they have the right amount, the Iaijutsu comes out faster with a different animation. One issue has been SAM gained more cast times, and also lost ways to use Kenki, so this would solve two issues in one.

Pretty sure the Astro and WHM new looking animations are an upgrade of medica and Aspected Helios, especially for AST as when you cast Helios it has that rainbow sort of effect afterwards which was prevalent after the cast :)

One interesting thing about the RDM skill is that you can see that they go from that into the start of the melee combo. This could be someone who just got enough mana to do a melee combo and at least the start of another melee combo, but who knows, maybe it is something else entirely

They did do Zwerschau into Redoublement during the PLD closeup, right before going into Embolden and then the new move.

The new Bard skill comes straight after a "heavy shot", so likely either an upgrade for "refulgent arrow" or an AOE that you can use during "straight shot ready"

Going off some of the things: The Astrologian is doing the Diviniation Animation. So perhaps an upgrade to Divination (Maybe a shield or Regen?) The WHM is absolutely a spell cast, it's the same movement animation as Medica II, so perhaps Medica III or IV. And the WAR skill at the end is absolutely an upgrade to Vengeance, the WAR Thorns ability. It has the Bloodwhetting effect, so it might be getting a shield on top of the reflect damage. Edit: The War using upgraded Vengeance (Revengeance?) Fits in line with the other Benchmark trailers. ARR, it's just a default PLD block with shield. HW, it's Shelltron, Stormblood was TBN, Shadowbringers was Also TBN (because it was still best tank Cooldown), And EW's was Haima.

The drg move could be a upgraded version of "fang and claw" (the 4/5 combo attack). You do a similary upper cut with the spear (only, that a piercing attack is it following) and it looked like, that the drg did a attack before this move. Summoning a dragon wing would fit as a finisher of the combo and the attack name. By the other hand, have whe allready similary looking moves, who are not the same attack. And it looks so special, that it could be a dragon eye skill to (except, that the aura is missing).

The double-chainsaw things looks like it could be like BRD's barrage giving a Refulgent proc, or maybe like SAM being able to immediately follow up a sword art with another, stronger copy of it.

Wanted to throw my own thoughts out with some timestamps. Won't mention stuff you brought up unless relevant. 4:30 Nidhogg could be a finisher to "wheeling thrust" and "fang and claw". but with the rework, its impossible to guess. 8:00 My hope is that it could be an evolution of Perfect balance. Where the standard moves become something else. like how reaper gets a new set of moves during its reaper form. THe dragon-like thing could be a raptor, and the tiger a coeurl. like the stances. 11:30 So, i know taking the benchmark at face value is not the best idea when it comes to slotting in skills into combos. But while we focused on meteor landing and hitting the snake, we could see the red mage doing their melee combo in the background, and then casting embolden. I don't want to say it, but the fear that it's just another part of the combo might be greater than we think. XD 12:42 It is indeed ikishoten. It's got the lightning effect. 25:00 the white mage has the green cast lines around them, indicating a cast. Could be an upgrade to medica 1 or 2. like a medica 3 or 4. 27:24 I'm reaching with this one, but I'm thinking it could be an upgrade to Edge and flood of shadow. Since one looks single-target and the other like a line. 29:17 Could be an upgraded lemure's slice? Though im reaching with that one. 31:14 My first though was that they might have upgraded shadowbite to look closer to ladonsbite so they fit together better. especially since current shadowbite is a rework that has the same animation. 32:05 I hear mention from a warrior main that it's the same animation as vengeance. so it might be an upgraded vengeance. Like how bloodwhetting is an upgraded war intuition.

at the start. its the end of Chaotic Spring for DRG and then for GNB its an AoE contunation for Fated circle (which should be pretty expected since hypervelocity exists). edit: WAR skill at the end seems like either a NPC variant of Vengance, or a new Vengance (and an upgrade to general 30% mitigations)

For monk what it looks like those abilities are upgrades to the meditation abilities like Forbidden Chakra and enlightenment you can kinda tell by the animation is very similar. It seem a bit to flashy for the basic rotation but I’m still hoping they upgrade the basic rotation because it is severely needed

The new redmage move was preceded by what seems to be a new holy animation, it looks like scorch with the crystal but it’s white, and if you pay attention to the red mage while they were showing off paladin you can see red mage doing it’s melee combo, so I think holy/flare and scorch may just be getting upgraded, I don’t think the combo itself is changing

That sage skill is most definitely a toxikon upgrade. The original does it to where the nouliths twirl around the enemy shooting it, the second does an X effect. This one does a kind of combination of them. An AOE upgrade wouldn't probably change how it fundamentally works, dyskrasia is a point blank around the sage.

For 12:55, the SAM skill it could be either an AOE-Midare (colors closely match) as an upgrade to Tenka Goken or they replace Tenka and give another skill instead as 2-sen-iai What they really should do tho, is give back kaiten and have it interact as ST/AOE "switch" (using Kaiten makes your Iaijutsus AOE or sth.) But that's just me devolving into wishful thinking :'D

Pretty sure the second MNK skill is upgraded forbidden chakra. It hasn't gotten one yet and the actual character movement not taking the effect into account looks like forbidden chakra. I'm guessing the BLM ability is high thunder II. It's centered on the target and fits in the kit. That _is_ ikkishoten. Gonna guess it's upgraded iajutsu, but that would mean ikkishoten is a red herring. DRK attack looks single target, so I'm thinking either edge or something new. Hoping the new RPR thing is an upgrade to communio.

I think that's because the "raise staff with both hands" motion is how all the healing spells with cast times finish. Considering how new skills often have unique animations nowadays, I'm guessing it's upgraded Medica.

Bloodspiller buffs Hard Slash/Syphon Strike/Soul Eater combo? Though it's weird, it looks like he goes Souleater (Impale) then Syphon Strike (The Cross) and then Hard Slash (The Dark Slam). Bloodspiller is seen early during Picto, then on WHM you see an the impale, then the rest of the combo.

My expectation is Dark Knight is more "Not Fell Cleave" spam and more "Not Shinten" spam and maybe a longer Living Shadow, with just more oGCD filler... That's how conditioned I am and that's how disappointed I was with Dark Knight in both Shadowbringers AND Endwalker... Gunbreaker getting more Continuation skills make sense logically, so I do have some hype for Gunbreaker, kinda wish Double Down had a Continuation skill though. Everyone knows Red Mage is getting another combo finisher, and I LOVE IT! I'm not hopeful on Samurai getting Kaiten back, even though Kenki management is just boring with Shinten spam... I kinda wish they did consolidated combo oGCDs for a lot of skill upgrades in Endwalker since they were different enough animations, and I kinda wish for that in Dawntrail as well, but no hope for that... My guess for Dragoon re-work is all jumps and dives are GCD but they all trigger Mirage Dive, to make up for the fact that Dragoon has less oGCDs.

As a WHM main: The use of red Lily pedals to me indicates that it’s a damage spell. It looks like it was sent it on the caster, so maybe it’s an upgrade to holy or an alternative option to Afflatus Misery? (Though I think Afflatus Misery works fine when used point blank, frankly…) However, you can clearly see a radiating affect take place on the allies’ bodies. Which means it affected them. So it is at least a support spell. I’m wondering if it isn’t both like assize….? Although, looking at the animation in full speed, it really does just look like the generic healing animation for WHM. So I think you’re right I think it might be related to Medica….

the movement the warrior did is pretty much identical to vengence (war's 30% mit) is it not? so maybe either a vengence upgrade or something like a nascent version of vengence that is also a gap closer to an ally which would bring war's total amount of gap closers to 5 lol. the movement and animations the dark knight did is very similar to its current 123 combo, so probably after using delirium stacks your next 123 is enhanced. thats my guess, i dont think theyd give drk more ogcd burst damage as it already has so many ogcds it uses in a 2min burst compared to the other tanks. gunbreaker just looks like they added continuation into their aoe cartridge spender lmao. they just adding contination onto everything, they love that shit. gonna add continuation onto double down and corrundum next.

The map being a new Decipher animation could be cool. SGE: It's probably Toxicon. Dyskrasia (their spamable AOE) is centered on the SGE. This ability was targeted. So if it's Dyskrasia, one would have to ask if they are changing lower level SGE's Dyskrasia to be targetable instead of centered on the caster. MNK: The Dragon could be an upgrade of their Phoenix big Blitz. DNC: I thought that was its LB3. Huh, that's an attack? PLD: Yeah, agree I hope it's an upgrade. PLD already has too much button bloat to need ANOTHER Requiescat. WHM: Glare right now fires two waves of 4-5 shots that spiral to meet at the striking point (if you look from near FPS mode, you can see they actually spiral) with the second batch moving through the enemy then circling back around and hitting the striking spot again. There's a little holy ball roughly the size of a basketball at the impact point. This version seems like all the shots still happen, but instead of the second wave passing through the coming around for that second dainty "pop" on the end, they all gather into a big holy ball to sort of explode. So it looks like it may feel like it has a bit more punch to it, though not sure. SCH: Broil 5 upgrade seems pretty apparent. Current Broil fires out 4 total red projectiles, two big ones and two smaller ones. The animation reminds me of the Halo Covenant plasma weapons (the big red ones the dropships use to pin you down), with even a similar sound effect. So...I'm one of the people that actually likes it. This seems to use blew projectiles instead, so it's clearly a different animation to my eyes, though I'm not sure if I like it more or less. The sound component will be important to that. The ability at the end I'm not sure of. I HOPE it's an AOE Chain Strategem. SCH already has tons of button bloat, so I'm not sure I want MORE abilities to have to use macros to shoehorn together on my hotbar (e.g. like my /ac Summon Seraph, /ac Summon Eos button, my /ac Rescue, /ac Repose button, my /ac Fey Illumination, /ac Dissipation button, my /ac Protraction, /ac Physick button, etc. TOO MANY BUTTONS!!!). So a simple upgrade to Chain Attack to make it useful in multitarget situations would be nice. (If you can't tell, I'm a SCH/WHM healer main...) PIC: Is it just me or does the Moogle look...nicer? Like the light effects shining off of it making those little lighter circles on its round parts like the head to make it look smooth. WHM2: It IS a cast. You can see the green swirl effect that Cure/Medica spells cast. I could see it being an upgraded Medica - we haven't had a new Medica or Cure spell in literally...uh...9 years? We literally have not gotten a new Cure/Medica spell since level 50. Think about that. I do agree with the button that makes base spells into Lilies. I'm a big proponent of that. I HIGHLY SUSPECT it is an AOE heal of some kind. Note as the pink fades, in the next few frames, a white visual effect on the WHM that cascades out to the nearby party members like how SCH's Succor does (all AOE heals do, Succor is just most noticeable because of the shield bubbles, and USED to be an issue since it didn't apply until the animation, meaning if you were on the outside of the cascade, it might not apply to you before the incoming boss raidwide - I'm sure you remember those days. I think they changed it in either 5.0 or 6.0, don't remember which). SGE's Prognosis also does this (un-Eukrasia) "cascade heal visual" on party members. So I'm 100% it's either a heal or buff for the party of some kind. I can't say WHICH, but one or the other. You can see the glow on the DRK in particular as the camera pans over to him. The white visual effect centered on his abdomen area is from that WHM spell, whatever it is. PIC2: When it zooms in on the DRK doing the cross slash...there's a big white explosion. While it COULD be Holy, it has the cell shading like PIC abilities have. I wonder if that's Pictomancer's elemental Verholy equivalent (if we go with the hypothesis their paints are elemental attacks by color)? RPR: Following in RDM's footsteps of adding additional stingers to the end of their finisher. Looking forward to 8.0 when they get yet another finisher. :)

the sage is definitely a toxikon upgrade or something new entirely. The regular aoe is point blank in the same way sch's is, but the sage was a bit of distance. The beginning of the animation, is much more how toxikon 2 appears. I honestly hope it's something new though. Almost looks like the pvp lb, which puts down a dot on enemies in the area (like doton/salted earth)

In the video for the RDM, you can watch see him cast Enchanted Zwerchhau > Enchanted Redoublement > Embolden > New Skill. So based on that, this new animation looks to be a replacement for Verflare/Verholy. My guess is they are simply just simplifying this portion of RDM further and taking away the whole having to balance your gauge so that you aren't proccing something that is already procced in the RDM combo.

As far as the RDM vine whip goes, I don't think it's a finisher on top of Resolution because almost immediately after that, they begin a melee combo. Also for the Viper, I'm just assuming his blue aura (2 min) is just called Trance. I'm calling it now.

All this does is to make me more excited for the Job Actions trailer. I really do hope that Summoner gets actual new summons as I feel like they got the bones done pretty well in Endwalker but the job is in desperate need of more meat. Also, I'm still not super excited about either of the new jobs yet but that could certainly change with the Job Actions trailer. If not, I feel like I'll probably end up playing through the expansion on Machinist as it's been my go to job for two expansions now without actually being my main job.
