edit: read update below! SMA used to be my favourite inverter manufacturer before they launched this line - unfortunately it is not PROPERLY listed for use in California. I had a 100+ unit multi-family building have their grandfathered Net Metering interconnection cancelled by SoCalEdison because SMA didn’t register properly with the California Energy Commission. Despite assuring me several times that they were listed, SMA America did not provide the CEC with ALL of the requirements under UL 1741. This lack of diligence has made a worthwhile community solar project unviable due to the new prevailing wage regulations and losing favourable Net Metering. edit 07/15: while they didn't "check the right box" on getting it listed, another box that they checked should have covered the SoCalEdison requirements?? Still lots of back and forth with the utility...

However, if you’re using BYD HVM batteries, you already have 22 kWh available in the first battery tower. SMA wishlist: like to see more focus on off-grid features, increased PV oversizing, additional MPPT trackers in future SMA Tripower series and direct DC-charging from high voltage homestorage to EV

I don't see this being a cheaper option for battery storage once the tariffs increase in 2026 for non-ev batteries. Good luck in the US market for battery storage unless BYD opens a factory in the US by that time.
