I love how if you listen to the lyrics its based around a true story during either WWI or WWII I don't remember which, but both sides played a game of soccer in no mans land on christmas
It's based off the 1914 Christmas truce in WW1, it happened in many parts of the war, but the most well-known example for me is was on the British sector of the western front, where boths sides exchanged gifts ( biscuits, chocolates, and other minor luxuries from home) and yes had a game of football ⚽️

Its because this isn't about heroes, last stands, violence, darkness or anything they normally cover. Its about remembering that at the end of the day, everyperson fighting these wars is human.
