HBO's new documentary, Wild Wild Space, premieres July 17th and follows the journeys of ‪@RocketLabNZ‬ , ‪@AstraSpace‬ , and ‪@planetlabs‬
I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Oscar-winning director Ross Kauffman, along with NYT Bestseller and Producer Ashlee Vance about this project, which was 6 years in the making.

Peter Beck appears to be at the same genius level as Elon, only he is absolutely focussed on space and nothing else, no other distractions. Rocket Lab is a truly extraordinary company, aiming not just to be a launch provider. Peter Beck appears to be building Rocket Lab into a Space as a Service business to build launch and manage constellations of satellites for their customers.

@@ellieinspace That was the little rocket that could. 😆 It had issues from the get go, but it got out the gate and kept flying like a champ. Failure aside, that stability control was remarkable.

This documentary should educate the wider public about some of the other players in the space industry and, as we've seen recently, dissimilar redundancy in launch capability is important.

I've seen Ashlee Vance as a host for another RU-vid channel. I can't remember which RU-vid channel it was, but I used to watch him. I didn't know he was an author. That's funny how he says his sister is a doctor but hates technology. I work as a lower-level tech in a large multi-ICU hospital, and those young doctors (residents and fellows) are forced to input patient orders with their smartphones or tablets or laptops or desktop computers or computers-on-wheels ... so doctors are forced to get used to technology, these days.

Doco is a good watch, light on the tech because its about the people, perhaps could have delved deeper on Planet, but a lovely side mission in the middle talking to the Darth Vader of the Reagan Star Wars program, and how he became the industries Qi Gon Jin.
