I am afraid your page has become sheer clickbait: Everything "destroys" everything else, something is "dead", etc etc. The old charm is gone! Why not "Decent new Speaker", "Great Value Amp" and such. This click-baiting rhetoric is just cheap, and ultimately self-defeating.
It's an algorithm thing. Channels that want views need to do this or 90% of the subscribers or potential new subscribers don't watch the content. Can't blame CAM for this.
@@tycheesey Sure you can. He's got more than enough followers not to cave to the lowest common denominator. People who are REALLY interested will always find his channel.
I'm looking forward to seeing your review of these speakers. Good to see you back safe and sound and back online. Congrats on the 250K milestone. I wish you continued success and happiness, Sir.
I thought those videos were awesome, which is why I’m still here (along with LOTS of others). The sense of humor, the “Dadness”, the humility, all top shelf my man. We thank you
Yeah, I loved his early videos as well for all of the reasons you mentioned and that's why I became an early subscriber. I think when I joined Randy was hovering around 15K subscribers so to see him at 250K now is kinda mind-blowing.
@@NosEL34 Yeah. What a ripoff. Let's also not forget that the anti-American war on police started in a Starfucks when they refused to give service to on duty police officers. Let's not forget that a police officer was also poisoned by an employee at a Starfucks not long after that.
This is good news especially for a first time speaker buyer. I have a 1st gen home theater set-up in my attic including the T6's and it just kicks. Jones just does good work.
@@capwillis19 Hes with mofi new source point speakers and they are excellent! Have or have had at least 7 different model AJ speakers. He’s a master at tonal balance and imagining
I'm living pretty close to the Elac Factory in Germany and have a true sympathy for lots of their products. My first real speakers were Elac EL80 wich hooked me to HiFi. The newer speakers were a little harsh on the tweeter so I switched first to Teufel (till they turned to cheap sounding) and now to HECO (laDiva) which are awesome. I hope the Elac Debut 3 are back to the awesome sound the old Elac used to have. I will check them out at my favorite dealer... I still have some voids to fill... ;-)
Me and my Family have been to Audio Advice live for the last 3 years. Very Kidd friendly event. We always have fun there. It was nice meeting you in person and my little girl was so happy to see you! Elac also has an affordable line of amps coming out and they sounded nice in that room at least. That was my wife's favorite room as well. The Focal Vestia's also made me want to open my checkbook. Such tight Bass!
this is a really tough market segment as there are so many very good choices. not having heard this i won't opine, but i do have my favorites. what i'd like to see is a review of active speakers under $600/pr as this eliminates amp matching/ impedance woes and as this site constantly touts DAC/ streamers.
I was blown away by these at audio advice live. great balance, surprising bass, amazing imaging . I walked into the room early on Sunday at Chris invitation . i had no plans to go in there because the room was empty. glad i did ... side note i was talking to you about both of us having the same camera...didn't even realize it was you until just now.
I heard these at T H E Show Socal, recently! They sounded Phenomenal! The Debut 3 floor standers with the Elac Alchemy electronics! Astounding! At $998./pr. ! Very impressive! 😃
I had 2 of the Alchemy stereo/mono blocks..they were pretty good. I got them dirt cheap on the 2nd hand market because no one buys them. The Dac/preamp is very good 👍
You might want to check out the new Cerwin Vega LA 165 bookshelf and LA 365 towers. They are $269/$698 per pair respectively. I've seen a tear down and they appear very well built with high quality crossover components. My brother bought a pair of the 165s and he loves them. They also sound very good to my ear. Great clarity, a surprising amount of bass with a wide Soundstage. I would love to hear how they compare to the elac and JBL.
Unfortunately Randy has no interest in reviewing a CerwinVega product. I have tried for a few years. There seems to be a weird stigma around CV that I can’t seem to understand.
@@joelnefph Hey Joe. The Uni-Fi's are in my desktop system. I sit about 3 feet from them. I use the Emotiva A2mini amp to drive them. They're amazing in the near field. They replaced my Debut Reference 2.5's which were very good as well. As for break-in I don't remember how long it took as I was working from home at the time and ran them almost all day...
Looking forward to the followup review! Something in the specs caught my eye I'm a little surprised by: The freq range for both the 5.25 and 6.5 are 42 to 38 kHz. I can see how the 38KHz would be the same if they are using the same tweeter, but expected the low end do be different.
Saw an Andrew Jones interview where he said they put the front port on version 2 because at their price point, they were getting customers who didn't want to be bothered with caring about speaker placement, and front ports were more forgiving
Love your channel. I dig your style and your vibe. I think people that don't really "get" you are the ones that think your titles are clickbait. I'm of the opinion that you are just effusive about this stuff. They can suck their "classic" speakers. I love hearing new speakers and changing my gear for new sounds. You're a great source for my addiction, keep it up!
I’m glad Elac continues to expand the Debut line. But, for me, my OG Debut B6 are IT. They are simply fantastic and I continue to be surprised by things I hear through them. Maybe it’s how they make me FEEL is what continues to surprise me but, either way, I don’t feel any pull to swap them out. I appreciated your vid though 😊
They are certainly much nicer looking so big hopes for these. Speaking ELAC I recently found out the make amps and it looks like they were using them. Would be interesting to see what those are all about.
I tried a pair of Debut's and immediately returned them... not a fan of the sound (or that hip-hop garbage bumper music), and I was running them through both a $3500 Parasound amp and $2000 Yamaha AVR... but, that's why there are thousands of choices out there for individual tastes...
Also heard these at Audio Advice Live…walked in blind not knowing what I was listening to. WOW, no subwoofer? What’s the price again? Completely blown away.
I agree with the op, every time it's a title that says "the best"..., close in time after each other, sometimes only few days inbetween, so credibility decreases...😢
Lol, on those old videos you look like a teen (all full of pimples and insecurities), but now is totally different, I'm glad you become a wonderful CheapAudio man!!! ] Congrats buddy, the journey has made you grow so well! : )
Thanks for the review. These speakers are likely a good deal if they are using scan speak drivers. I wish someone would do a review of Fritz speakers. How would they compare to these? The cheapest model is more than these though. Another review suggestion for high end tower speakers, Bamberg Audio. I have a little subwoofer he sold as a kit years ago. Really nice sound. He makes really high quality stuff.
Have the 5.2s and totally rebuilt the crossovers with high-end caps, resistors and coils. Bet good money that $199 sale + crossover change beats the new ones. It was a huge improvement on what was already a great speaker. Yes, the crossover is worth as much or more as the speaker at that point. But it was worth every penny.
I do agree with that there are some great bargains out there. And in general the standard at the bottom end has benefited from a lot of technological advances.
I remember many decades ago, listening in the better hifi shops, I always was a fan of the small Elac speakers. Nowadays Q Acoustics 3050 (+ HT speakers), but I do not exclude I might swap again for Elac down the road... 😊
I'll be waiting for someone to measure these; if capable would be a nice budget speaker, maybe for some mods too depending if there are things a normal person can actually do with it
I've been interested in Elac bookshelf speakers for years. I can't use my Magnepans in my current apartment because my living room is absolutely tiny. But, I refuse to get rid of them, so they are dutifully leaning against the wall for when the room magically becomes bigger. I tried the KEF Q150s, and they had remarkable sound staging, but a very dry and metallic sound in the tweeter, albeit very detailed. Then I tried the Wharfdale Diamond 220, which I found very pleasing and fun to listen to, but the bass was a bit shy. Then I thought, why don't I upgrade to the Diamond 225, which has a bigger cabinet and a larger woofer? Turned out that in my tiny living room, that extra surface area was enough to overload the bass in the room, and it annoyed my downstairs neighbor. The Diamond 220's were a better match, and I didn't have the experience to leave well enough alone. So, I am very interested to hear the baby Elac Debut speakers, as it will give me a reason to go back into my living room for music listening.
@@pmleclair63 They do sound better than most. And the KEFs do a good job with metal domes. I expect there's some creative filtering going on there somewhere. But there's still a certain coldness to the presentation which I just can't handle long term.
I heard this speaker at the Orange County audio show a few months ago. It’s a really good speaker. I kept looking around the room for the subwoofer but there was none Definitely some amazing speakers
Have a Q Acoustics M4 soundbar and an Elac 1225 sub. Paid about $325 for both, including shipping and tax. Running youtube premium for music. A lot of joy for a little money.
I prefer and own the Oberon 1s over the 3s personally. Of course if you need more bass use a sub - which I believe a much higher % of USA listeners do compared to hear in the UK 🎶
I'm going to Bangkok in mid-December to audition a *huge* assortment of speakers -- including more than one recommended by this channel. What are the chances that this new series will be available there by then?
Had the b5, b6 2.0 and now ub5 love them all elac make good speakers for the low. Destroying everything idk I had kefs from the q100 to the q950 and like kef more. But the cost is way higher for kef so elac it is :)
I wanted to ask, you have mentioned Cambridge Audio stuff in other videos, but not their speakers as far as I know.. was just recently blown away by their amazing M100 earbuds & thus decided to get their ‘evo s’ speakers.. was hoping to find CA speaker reviews on your channel, specifically those speakers.. anyway, love your videos.. peace ✌️
I'll take my RSL CG23 speakers over any budget speaker out there although I have nothing but my old Polk RTi8 and other RTi series surrounds to compare them to and it's no contest.
Thinking about a new pair of bookshelves as my mains in both my HT and 2 channel set up. Curious how these stack up against the UniFi 2.0 52’s and new Emotiva XB2’s.
Hallo mr cheap ! There are new Ortofon Concorde pickups for your Metallica grammo and they are not discjockey but very very very good hifi - up to 600 $
As a long time viewer and fellow submariner, knowing how much you love what are my favorite speakers (the vanatoo t1e+) I'll be curious to know what you think of the elacs in regard to the t1ep's.
Hey Randy! You might want to let your legions of subs know that the hotels for the 2024 Capital Audio Fest are filling up fast! It's not too early to make their hotel reservations!
I love (and own) most AJ designs but that Debut 2.0 design was kinda trash. I'm not sure if Elac pushed him to that sound signature or what, but I was extremely disappointed with the set I bought and promptly sold them. They'd of been better off leaving the original Debut in production and calling the Debut 2.0 something different. Let's hope that you are correct and we're getting something close to the original Debut again with the 3.0 series. For the record, I actually liked the cheaper and smaller 5 1/4" version of the original Debut better than the 6.5" version. Bass was almost as good but the soundstage and overall sound was waaaay better. That's high praise too as the 6.5" version was a fantastic speaker in its own right.
