New Sphere Mold: Fixing Some Problems - Making some more!

I made and fired a few pots using my 2 part sphere mold. Unfortunately they had a few issues. So I redesigned my mold and made a few other changes along the way. I won't know if those are fixed until I can make and fire some new pots, but had a bit of a setback along the way with my plaster!

An option to choose between two or four sections for the outer mold would be awesome! I leave them bolted together, too.😅 I've been using wooden dowel shelf pins to line up my registration key holes. Pins wouldn't take very long to print, but I had a bunch of wooden ones sitting around.

Thanks for the feedback on the outer mold! Shelf pins are an interesting idea. I'm wondering if I'm going to need more complex geometry or not. I think the hole for the pin probably wants to have a chamfer around it so the plaster is less likely to chip there. But that wouldn't affect the pin. I was wondering about a pin that is split vertically so that it acts as a bit of a spring. I'm wondering if that might help with alignment, but without trying it might be a non-issue.

@@PotterybyKent a little chamfer would definitely help. I use a coat of laqueur in and around the holes to reduce friction and chipping.
