I love the new charger is a ikea pencil that has that functionality where you have these sections in it you can replace by pushing it out inside a compass part and a pencil sharpener. Really nostalgic to a lot of our childhoods assumably.

My only complaint about the new update is why are the devs so determined to remove routes and force matchups in mid? I get that it’s visually more interesting to see teams go head to head, but removing routes also takes away a lot of potential map oriented strategies. Other than that I’m very happy with what they’ve shown us, and I’m hyped that we’re finally getting Big Run.

This is probably a very strange case of a design decision being made purely for the sake of marketing. Since Nintendo wants to push its tournaments and competitive scene much more than in their other franchises, so every tournament is technically an advertisement for the game. So since the tournaments are technically a marketing tactic, they need each match in the tournament needs to look super fun, so a match where everyone is flanking each other isn’t super cool looking even if it is more interesting in the long run. But a bunch of fights in mid makes the game look much more action packed, so if the only option is to go into mid, then tournaments will look much more spectacular even if the actual content is made worse by the map design.

I mean, it’s a great way to take a map out of rotation. Any fixes made can be chalked up to either repairs done after the fact, or as leftover Salmonid alteration. Not that a map needs to go to SR if it goes off rotation, a bug may break the game regardless of mode, or a fix may need to happen ASAP.

I really hope that they soon start going back and improving on the current maps... Thats the one area this game really struggles with and it makes me sad, considering how important the stage designs are for balance and just general enjoyment of the game. Other than that, the designers are doing a great job and i am so ready for what they have for future seasons!

One thing I want to point out: They specifically mention the weapon kits as RETURNING weapons, which most likely means we won't be getting kits for Splatanas or Stringers in this update as those would be new and not returning.

Although the way they worded it was incredibly weird/confusing so maybe that's not the case but it seems like Nintendo tried way too hard to avoid used terms that the community made up and try to stick with generic phrasing and what things are actually referred to in game even if no player actually calls them that.

Even though that was one of the least used Splatoon weapons like... ever, with the only one coming close being the CoroCoro Splat Roller from S1. Also Bubble blower doesn't really have any equivalent or even similar special in 3 so I'm guessing you mean a wacky unconventional kit for a somewhat limited weapon class.

There's something deeply funny about the fact Wahoo World looks like it's gonna be a really cool map for Salmon Run, and would actually be a better Salmon Run map than it ever has been for the PVP modes I know Nintendo won't let us leave it for the salmonids but if that was an option I would take it in a heartbeat

Depending on the special for the new Splattershot, I might pick it up. I LOVE splat bombs and I really like the basic Splattershot believe it or not, so I hope that it’s special is at least fun. Edit: I’m also SUPER excited for the new charger! It looks like one of those pencils with the little replaceable nubs. I’ve been calling it the “shotgun charger” for the time being :)

I really like the idea that the new Roller is an inverse Flingza, as Flingza is my favorite roller atm. Having one with faster rolling and vertical flicking as well as more surface area coverage is really cool since I prefer the painting/area control aspect and am not that good at engaging in fights (getting better, but still prefer backlining). Hoping it has a good kit, and definitely snagging it day 1 of the update.

Speaking of Salmonids keeping Wahoo, heres my copium: Big Run should double as a cool excuse to revamp stages. Like say right after this Big Run is done, Wahoo is updated to look more battle-worn and in need of renovation after the attack, and it just so happens that the aftermath changes the layout into something better Then they could put the next Big Run on Hammerhead which puts that stage back under construction and thus more like its S1 counterpart and so on

Idk if this was mentioned or noticed (because I don't really remember how the dual squelcher in splatoon worked) but the new shooter seems to be shooting two shots of ink then pauses for a bit then another 2 everytime. So maybe it's like a hybrid of like Nozzlenose and Splattershot pro.

I think a cool new weapon for splatanas might be a ping pong paddle, used as a short range splatana that is very fast, it does 30 damage per shot and has a different charged shot, this time you press B while holding it down which will have you jump and use your paddle to shoot a ball in the air that explodes on the ground, the radius of a burst bomb and the damage of a explosher hit, and the range of tri-sloshers middle shot, which means although it can't one shot I think it will still do pretty well.

I like point sensor on the new shoter, scouting the ninja squids is fun and helpful. The new charger looks fun and I think only on full charge you got the five shots. If it's not fully charged you can create a ink line, because the single bullets seem not to ink as they travel (example: on the first map as the charger shot the roller).

With the other new kits, if they don't do any new kits for rollers or chargers since they have the new weapons straight up for those classes, there's still 5 weapons we haven't seen, which is enough for the 5 classes we didn't see in the trailer (Splatana, Stringer, Brush, Slosher and Brella) to each get a new kit for the class. While I was hoping for more weapons, I think that considering the brand new 3, we'll have pretty close to the same number of weapons that we would have if we had one new one each week from the start of the game

Have you heard of the RU-vid channel Artspear entertainment? I mention that channel because they had a series where movie Heroes and villains fight in a battle royale and only one will remain. What they fight inside is a circular coliseum. What I hope for the future is we get a Splatoon 3 stage where it’s just a circular arena with or without obstacles.

At about 1:20 in the trailer,on the right, someone squid surges up a wall, and right when they pop up they throw a torpedo, and before they go back into squid form it looks like it's the charger threw it, but it is hard to see. But the charger's line on the ink tank seems to support this theory.

My prediction for the new shooter is that it’ll be the inverse of Squeezer-maybe having the accurate, stronger tap shots at less range, while the inaccurate shots that fire as the button is held down, could help with painting from further away

Zimi) back in the original Splatoon, I thought that Bagel (USA, Starburst) and Shockwavee (AUS) were going to be so happy. I think Ive figured out the gimmick with the new shooter. From the slowed down footage it seems like the new shooter is firing in automatic 2 rounds bursts. There's seems to be a delay in firing before a couple shots come out before another small delay. I hope I'm not crazy on this one but it feels like it's extremely plausible

Like you said for the Splattershot, they could do absolutely anything. I think Zipcaster giving it quick mobility to catch an enemy off guard with a sub that can also do that could be a very and fun pair to play around with and annoy the enemy.

As a Dapple main getting a bomb of some kind is such a huge boon, especially since it's on my favorite color variant. I wouldn't be surprised if it got Ink Storm if it's another hybrid, though ideally itd get something like Reef or Crab.

I’ve thought long and hard about the design changes with the Splatoon 2 and 3 maps, and I think I know why they’ve been changed: turf war. Turf war is pretty central to Splatoon due to how unique it is (you can’t really do something like turf war in most other games). Hell, Splatoon 1 started out with *just* turf war. Limiting the amount of inkable walls could be an effort to teach new players that walls are to be used for mobility and don’t affect who wins the match. The removal of tight flank routes and a strong mid could be encouraging players to get out into the fight and paint for their special along the way. Which is good to do in turf war more than any other mode. I definitely think there should be more active changes for Ranked mode. The expanded recon mode can help prevent new players from getting confused by the differing layouts between Turf and Ranked. So the only thing needed for Ranked Renovation is the time and resources needed to change the maps, test them, and other things that I don’t know about because I’m not a game dev.

I usually don't play chargers, though I will say that new one does look pretty cool. I'll probably pick it up to at least try it out.

2:20 People have been speculating that this roller puts a higher focus on ACTUALLY rolling since has the speed of a Carbon and roll width of a Dynamo… maybe this roller can take that even further What if it had a *charged dash attack?* Like, you can hold down the B button while rolling, and it charges up a dash in the direction you’re holding. Releasing B would send you in a lengthy dash in that direction! A full charge could not only send you forward the distance of the Reefslider, but it’s the only roll that can crush opponents in one hit! That’d be pretty cool 🤷‍♂️

Forge pro is pretty cool now that it’s got booyah bomb, and the pencil charger is cool too. Same with the new shooter.

Forge pro sounds great. Kensa was already obnoxious especially with mpu so another redo of splatoon kensa weapon kits will be crazy to play with.

Im excited for that new sniper weapon. 😆 And damn I'd rather have a burst bomb than a point sensor on the splattershot looking new shooter weapon

I absolutely love that the new shooter is kind of like a return of the Dual Squelcher from Splatoon 1. Absolutely love that weapon was sad they cut it and replaced it in 2 even if Splatoon 2 Dual Squelcher is also one of my favorite weapons it's basically different

I hope they add a revolver, almost like the new charger but less range more damage and can save its charge in ink

I'm not sure how a revolver can really work in a game with a vague concept of ammo, since the main recognizable thing about revolvers is its barrel. And I don't think making it a charger would be a fair compromise.
