Are you aware the picture of Marie, she is wearing a very famous dress that was made of light cotton in a time when that fabric was only used for undergarments! It was a huge deal because while at first it was just scandalous but then all the women wanted one and became a huge fashion trend that totally destroyed the silk business. It was called the chamis a la Reine.
I knew of that happening through the thread industry because a friend gave me really old thread spools and a movie called North and South...British mini series actually but I didnt know specifics. Many of my unused wooden spools of thread were Coats and Clarke but also those two companies separate. So I looked up the hstory of thread in USA. Those two merged and also helped pushed cotton thread rather than silk and taken advantage that cotton could be grown in many climates of USA. Ive sewn all my life. 68 now and moving into some crafting. I totally dont have that eye yet so follow a lot of youtubers.
I really love the artwork on the rice paper. Love the Chickens 🐓, Flowers & Birds are Gorgeous!!! So excited to buy some of these for framing & decoupage. I bought some of your larger decoupage paper & decoupaged it to canvas. It looks amazing 🤩 gives the decoupage paper (( Great texture )). Dianthus is really beautiful love the ferns/leaves. They are all beautiful 👍 😃
@@JamiRayVintage Quick question, Jami -- have you ever checked out junk journals or art journals? They seem right up your alley, especially with these new designs. Probably too time-intensive for you - but maybe inspiration? If you're interested, check out Mrs.Cog or Wendy'sJournalAdventures here on RU-vid. Lovely work.
I would Really Love “SHEEP IN A FIELD LIKE THE COWS” Maybe next time you could do more farm animals/Landscape with flowers would be gorgeous. Like a field full of Lavender or Poppies. Old Covered Bridge “like the ones you see back East Pennsylvania” Old steamboat’s, Black & White Steam Train.
I didn’t catch this live but it is awesome nonetheless. Thanks for sharing and when my move is over and my budget is less tight, I am definitely ordering some of the new papers!
I love the lemon crumble cookies! My youngest son, who was visiting at the time, and my husband, bought me a variety box, for my 60th birthday. I really didn't think I wanted any, and told them to enjoy them. I made the mistake(?) of breaking off a piece of the lemon cookie, and I was all in! I ended up tasting all the flavors! They're not something I would buy myself, because of the price, but I really enjoyed them.
Love your work on the frames and the rice paper is beautiful. When I frame things, I have a hard time cutting off a portion of a design such as cutting off part of a bird's tail.
for more interest and texture. Wrinkle them into a ball, unravel, spread out and cover with decopodge medium. With this process, the picture will look hand painted, with texture.
So happy to see some Art. I have never been a big signage person unless they are vintage/antique signs. I always display Art in my home, especially found hand painted acrylics and oils that I find out thrifting. Nothing against the whole signage craze, but cozy vintage art like an old Library is definitely my style. The first time I had went back to Kirklands about 5 years ago and saw the whole store was distressed Farmhouse (this day and time Farmhouse) not true Farmhouse, I was so disappointed. I would occasionally buy a piece from there before the mass change. I haven't been back. If I want something cool for my home I go thrifting or I use printables or of course make my own Art! Great job Zeb!
My grandmother took me to the rummage sale. They only held it once a month. She gave me 50 cents to spend. I would find purses and jewelry, lots of it. This was in the 1950 . She would get clothes to make quilts and furniture. We would haul it home on the city bus.
here is an idea for you to try...I just stumbled into it and love the effect. I cut watercolor paper to fit my printer. ( I do have to wet and towel dry it to make it soft enough to go through my printer. ) I have printed some of my fav photos ...the effect is so nice. Anyway, it looks great for something you want to frame. Try it, you'll like it.
Unfortunately, I missed the live. I am watching the repeat. The volume of commercials is overwhelming. I know this isn't controlled by JRV, but I will not watch repeats anymore. Long live JRV lives! Thank Jami & Zeb, the papers are stunning!
how do you decide on the base color for your decopodge item. If it is a scene, what color do you pick out for the underneath paint color? I know it should be a light color? right?
