Man I found your channel by purchasing duplicate of SSL Valve Compressor, so I emailed SSL if I could exchange it and they suggested the LMC+ and I found your by searching it on RU-vid. Man I have to say that you are my favorite tutorials educator
Sounds like a great plugin to add to the arsenal. I must say your videos are very well made and watchable. I usually skip through 80% of most other "content" but I find value in every second of your work.
Thank you so much! That's great to hear. I'm glad people are watching and enjoying the content. Thanks for watching, a new one is coming out in the next couple days!
Excellent info and demo. I didn't realize this was the compressor involved in Phil Collins drum sound. Cool. LMC is great still. 2 years later and the SSL LMC is on sale again, $17.99. I got it, at that price why not?
Thank you so much, my friend! That means a lot to me! I have more videos on the way, after taking a break. I want to build the channel up, so thanks for watching! Cheers!
@@palebluedotstudios it’s absolutely awesome! Can’t wait to try it out on a few tracks. It’s certainly original and it’s already found a place in my toolbox ;)
Oh wow! I'm so glad to hear that! Yes, for me, this is a seismic event in compressors; been waiting a long time for this! Glad it was of help to you. And thanks for watching!
I love the mix and the sound. Also, the explaining factor in the video is really great, good job! You got your self a subscriber ;D I have a question: How is this plug in applicable in mixing and mastering metal music? Thanks in advance. peace
man..im using Drum Strip....by SSL and the LMC and SAND4BUS comp by Acustica Audio on Mix Bus....man...its the Sound...thats all I can say...that "Hit Sound"
Great video! Although I am always dismayed when an audio person mixes audio for a video wherein the voice is so much louder than the music demonstrated, forcing the viewer to ride the volume knob to hear the plugin effect. Sorry -- it's true! Otherwise, fantastic explanation that made me go buy it!
Awesome! Glad to hear you picked it up. And I sincerely thank you for the feedback! When we do it all ourselves, sometimes we lose perspective (and I probably spent too much time in headphones!). Thanks for commenting and watching! Cheers!
Damn. Yes, it does go on sale, from time to time, so keep an eye out for that. You can also get it in their bundle subscription, but, you know...cheers!
Is the gated reverb going through the LMC at any point? Or is the gated reverb send routed to the final Drum Bus where there's another stage of glue compression? Thanks 😊
this is incredible! thank you for making this! curious to know why do you have an L1 limiter after your LMC comp? :) also, is this the same as the LMC on ssl drum strip? cheers!
Wow, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you. I often place an L1 at the end of my chain when I'm experimenting with new plugins to prevent overs. It's at a very light setting, like -0.3dB. I like it because it's quick and easy, just gang the faders and go. As for the LMC on the Drum Strip, that is a good question. It appears to be a simpler version of it (simple is all you need, though). I'll reach out to LMC to confirm it. It would be handy to know if you can get this compressor PLUS a full drum-mixing rack! Thanks for watching!
It depends what you want. Drum Strip has the LMC inside it (not sure if it's exactly the same or not), plus all sorts of channel-strip bells and whistles, including transient design. And, if you're paying full price, the Drum Strip is only $80 more than the LMC. Personally, I don't like channel strips very much, so I prefer to have LMC on its own, and I can mix it in parallel either internally, or send to a bus with LMC inserted. So yeah, I'd rather go with LMC+ and my own drum processing. Cheers!
@@tri-unetrl3966 Certainly! I find I just tend to ignore them, and I prefer having separate control over my inserts. Check out this video for my detailed opinion! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wv2LtuLSUAk.html
Quite different beasts. LMC+ is a rather rough-sounding compressor (although this plugin version is much cleaner than the original), meant for very heavy compression (remember: its original purpose was to be a loud talkback mic in the studio), whereas the dbx160 is meant to be an all-around, clean compressor for everyday track use. Sure, you can push the dbx really hard, but the LMC+ is hard, right out of the box. Hope that helps!
Do you mean in terms of discount? If you're on the subscription program, you get LMC+. Otherwise, it's $119 right now, even if you're a registered user.
Yes, but I'd recommend working with the wet/dry or parallel processing to blend in the LMC. It's a fairly dirty, dark-sounding compressor, but it could beef up the vocal nicely! Cheers!
I'd say parallel is the most common use. But it sounds much cleaner than the original, I would say it's great to use as a primary compressor if you want a bit of a dirty, darker sound. Cheers!
@@palebluedotstudios yeah i have all the ssl plugs but the violet set and a plugin alliance E, im not sure of this, the violet eq etc is as important then the bx_ssl e, im still contemplating on getting the E and someone just offered the LMC for $40
@@OfficialFatLip I haven't used the Violet EQ, but it looks pretty basic to me. The E-Channel is a full channel strip, so if you want the full SSL experience-and a standard, clean compressor-then that would be a good choice. $40 for LMC is a good deal, but of course, it's not an EQ...so it depends on what you need the most.
