Just an fyi. The airbag error code will remain until you plug back in the climate control part of the dash. It then is cleared. Awesome video and thanks for the install.
The airbag light was due to having the stuff still unplugged (Climate control panel with the passenger air bag indicator) when you powered on the truck initially, causing an open circuit fault on the airbag system. I am sure once you plugged everything back in, the light would have cleared on its own.
@@kccreations5945 The ABS light may also be on while turning the battery on and off while not driving the vehicle. I understand the solution is placing your foot down on the gas three times to the floor and back resetting the ABS light.
I have been researching different head unit and getting quote from brick and motar stores which none where quoting Roadanvi nor provide much info on the usual name brand head units. Then I happened upon you RU-vid site and found your presentation excellent and NOW I know which head unit I am going to purchase for my 2016 Tundra SR5 double cab 8' bed. You do an great job and have now subscribe to you channel. Looking forward to viewing what you have already posted and what you will be posting. Thanks
I’m so glad to help you out! Hope you enjoy it like I have! Make sure you hook up the microphone when you install it beside the built in microphone is not the best for phone calls. But I never installed my microphone so I need to do that!
I put the KENWOOD 1037s in my highlander 2019 limited. Super easy to install ,idata makes all the harness you need. Tons of videos to Gide you. 10 inch screen supports Apple CarPlay and Sirius Xm . Can’t find anything I don’t like about it.
Have to use the auxiliary mic. The oem mic isn’t compatible with any aftermarket system. not a big deal as you can mount it on the steering column where it is effective but can’t be seen.
at 29:25 of the video - that small black cable with the white roundish connector - most likely either factory antenna, gps antenna or XM radio. You should have a specific connector in with the new unit for that.
Dang bro! You are in the Amazon commercial for this! Awesome commercial for the unit! Are you still happy with this unit? Did it upgrade your sound system too, I have the jbl system. Thinking about sticking this one in my truck, just don’t like the overhang on the tundra letters…
@@COBALTGRUV I think my only issue with it is, I should’ve hooked up the external microphone as the internal one is not great! And I did hear something about the radio not sending enough power to engage the amp so I don’t really have much base, but I’m not sure if that’s because I hooked up something wrong or not… but it’s been great the whole time I’ve had it other than those two things!
I installed this unit yesterday in my 2017 Tundra based on your video review and I’m very happy with the unit. However, I can’t seem to figure out how you were able to hotspot from your phone to allow the Android apps access to the internet. Any chance you could help?
Thank you so much! Do you have any idea how I get my bass to work? I’ve heard the new radio doesn’t send enough power to engage the AMP to produce bass, and no bass sucks lol
Thanks! Hmm I am not totally sure on that… I am sure you could in the settings, actually now that I think about it, I think I have seen that option before!
Great video Austin! Question for you….where did you put the microphone they sent with the unit? Did you mount it anywhere special to get optimal sound quality? TIA!
The 4 pin (purple) usb is power only. Dont believe it passes data, so all you can do is charge a device. Had the same issue with my older Phoenix Tesla Style radio.
How has this been since you installed it? If you had to choose again now, would you buy the same one or something else? Did you maintain the steering wheel and backup camera functionality?
I'm saving this video, so i can see how this looks and performs long term. Thanks for the video! have been researching my own head unit replacement on my Tundra. Another thing i want to add is a CB and a Midland radio as well, so when i am installing my head unit, i plan on adding those then. Debating though if i want the CB on the floor and the Midland hidden up underneath things.
Would also love an update down the line on this unit! Most of us tundra owners think the headunit is feeling dated lately, not many plug and play options currently! Helped my buddy install an idoing headunit for his WRX and was immediately jealous lol. Carplay seems nice.
Can you drive and play a youtube video I know back in the day they used to have to put a bypass plug in so you can have your passengers watch while u drive
Hey! It’s been really good! Overall I’ve really enjoyed it! I think I missed plugging in a wire somewhere because I seem to not have bass for my music anymore so I need to figure that out. But other than that it’s been great!
@@kccreations5945 I had the same issue with bass. From what I can gather, the unit is not turning on the factory amp. Therefore, only the dash speakers are working. It's a shame. gorgeous screen; nice fit. Everything else seemed fine. I am still sending her back. Might be able to bypass the amp, but would rather just find a different unit.
How is it holding up? My 2019 Toyota Tundra Crew Max doesn't have a navigation system. Have been really considering upgrading the unit so that I can stay off the phone when navigating. These seems like a viable option.
@@michaelfalgout5564 I am! It’s been good and I did get the wheel controls going! The one thing I would do differently is install the external microphone. The built in one isn’t very good. Also I think I didn’t make a certain connection because my bass doesn’t work for some reason… not sure why though!
Crap, I missed the discount code. Very interested in getting this. Been looking at different head units with these features that wouldn’t break the bank. You can take off the vent panel to the right of the stereo to get access to your glove box for the sd card. Are you able to change the background picture also?
@@tijerina1986 yes I am! It’s been good, I need to figure out how to get the bass to work. Apparently it doesn’t send enough power to the amp to click it on so I don’t have any bass. But I’m wondering if that’s an install mess up or something?! But other than that it’s been great!
any chance of another discount code? i’d love to order one and get you the commission for making such a helpful video, but $500+ is a lot compared to other mods
@@kccreations5945 does wireless CarPlay start automatically or do you have to select it every time you start up the unit. Not much info out there on this unit. Thanks
@@felipereynoso8919hey man! It starts up automatically and it’s wireless for CarPlay. I still keep my phone plugged in to charge but it doesn’t have to be to work!
Would you know how to change the pre loaded widgets on the home screen? I’ve given up!lol I don’t want to change the car launcher app. I just want to change one useless widget.
I wish the term Plug N Play would just go away....LOL I cringe every time I hear it, because I know what should take only a small portion of my weekend will inevitably take hours or days and I will break something and end up ordering some backordered part and then paying crazy shipping to get in a decent time. Or multiple trips to the local Auto Zone. Case in point: I just installed a 600 set of Morimoto LED tail lights on my 2015 Tundra. Plug N Play - nope. One of the metal clips broke so I had to engineer a fix. Sure they plugged right in, but now when my headlights switch is off during the day when I use the turn signals, the back lights behind my AC controls blink in sync. with the turn signals. LOL.......plug n play......meh :D
Hahaha I hear that man! It really can be a pain. Also I lost one of those taillight metal clips and had an issue with it too lol. I have learned to always factor twice as much time as I think it’s going to take to install anything! Lol
HAHA great point! So, tomorrow when I replace my battery with a new Interstate AGM, I'm going to allocate 2 hrs. LOL / I love your Tundra set up and thanks for taking the time to make content!!@@kccreations5945
This so a basic android head unit, they are all a crap shoot and take some time getting used to kinda hard to operate and they die suddenly, good luck...
