Unfortunately, Simple Theory Gear went out of business during the pandemic. However, we have permission to bring the stove back to the market under our branding. So stay tuned to the channel as we will be announcing the stove's re-release as soon as we have all the details worked out. Thanks for watching!
There is great value in sitting out in the middle of nowhere, next to a fire, beside a creek, sipping on a hot beverage, & watching the world go by. Right on, brother. Right on.
@@WayPointSurvival yessir, I believe the whole of the country would benefit from doing exactly that & more than just a couple of times. Thank you for doing what you do & being as genuine as you are & I'll keep looking forward to watching it. 👍
James, I truly wish that I had words to properly articulate how incredibly thankful I am for all that you have done for us. Not only is this another spectacular video, but in all honesty, the XL is only in existence because of your amazing insight and feedback. As Ronald noted earlier, you most definitely have a gift for making products better than ever thought possible. I sincerely cannot begin to express how appreciative I am for your wonderful encouragement and exceptional support. Truest Regards and Deepest Gratitude- Mac
I think it’s awesome that you guys listened to feedback and made changes. I have several buddies that rant and rav about your stoves. They look awesome! I wish you had one that nested with a canteen and cup. I would buy 3 instantly! Love what you guys are doing. Keep it up!
You would need to break up the briquet into several chunks for a better burn but you can get 6-10 minutes out of one briquet and that would probably boil 2 cups of water. I would use the match light type.
To get recipes for a 2 cup cook set - just look for good recipes for standard sized pans - and scale them down. IE: bring only part of a package of mix for muffins or cornmeal. Have smaller portions for beef stew. Be inventive. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying
If I didn't already have my original STG stove and Stanley 2 cup cook set, I would be all over this. Mine nest perfectly and fit in my maxpedition 1 L bottle pack. I carry my water separately.
Hi James from the UK 🇬🇧, after watching your video, I bought a packstove from their second batch and added the new speed plate, definitely one ☝️ of the best stoves going, seeing that grate speaks volumes to the one ☝️ pan/skillet cooks. Now you have a stove which can handle stir fry, it just keeps getting better.
Simple Theory Gear is back in business, but not producing stoves again yet. They have a proprietary firestarter they have released and that is where they are starting back. I highly encourage everyone to support them and help them get back into business making these great stoves. I've had mine for over 3 years and love it. It's not a backpacking stove for me (too heavy), but for car camping and bushcrafting, it's unmatched. To be fair, I have taken it backpacking on shorter treks, because I like it so much, but for longer multiday hikes where I need to crack out 10+ miles a day, I have an ultralight kit I take (Firebox Nano, Ti kettle, alcohol stove, etc.). I would love to see the Pack Stove 2.0 back on market, and would love even more to see a titanium version.
I bought this stove and I love it. I can’t believe they went out of business. The stove is such a thick and sturdy metal I believe it will last a lifetime.
Excellent. It's great seeing the improvements to this over the previous model, and how it compares to, say the old Ikea utensil strainer stove idea. The fact that it can work as a woodstove, with esbit tablets, with alcohol stoves and presumably, it could similarly hold a small isobutane canister and stove, really appeals to me. It would give you the greatest possible versatility with the smallest footprint. About the only way they could make this better is if they could find a way to make this work with a woodgas stove design. Great video.
Enjoyed it James. As I've stated in the past you made me realize the value of my Stanley cook set. I also did a review on the earlier Simple Theory Gear model with speed plate in the past and can certainly see the advantages of new one here. Thanks for sharing.
Love it , but we hike alot of miles and that would be 2 heavy , I like the cat foodcan alcohol stove with built in pot stand , but love the idea u can grill , does it come with the grill grate , I just went to site , and it does not , so I just pulled the trigger on the stove and grill , thanks for a great review
Unfortunately, they are not currently being manufactured. However we do have the rights to make them again and when we get them produced I will be putting out a video on it.
James , thank you for sharing this very informative video. You have a knack for making a good product even better. All the best to you and your family. Stay healthy. 🤗
Add me to those who love this stove and the company who makes it. Versatile, sturdy, reliable and economical too because you will not need to replace it, it won't break, bend or wear out. Good review by the way. Happy Holidays to all.
I've looked through your vids and can't seem to find one with new info to get one of these stoves. Maybe I was looking too fast and missed it. Did you come out with your branding of this stove? Thanks.
Great review James Ive got this stove in older version absokutely love it. I carry esbit tabs along with a fancy feast stove with it so many options with it.. They are great people to deal with n go above n beyond cistomer service. That dont happen much todays society. 👍👍🇺🇸
The stove seems great! My only gripe is the square grill for a round stove. An additional speed plate with appropriate sized slots would allow for grilling and maybe even toasting. I am super impressed by the level of consideration you have put into this cook kit. I could see a proprietary product based on these hacks.
Thank you for the update. I've been wanting to see the new model. Always looking forward to your videos. They are not only information but entertaining as well. God bless
Is the new/improved XL stove still available. Looks like people were buying from you as of ~ a yr ago (is not 4/22/2022), but your link going to another site with 3 links, and none have the stove. I have the Stanley cook set w/ 2 green cup and would love this stove. Thx for all you do !!
Actually, simple theory gear went out of business during the pandemic. However, we have permission to bring the stove back to the market under our branding. Stay tuned to the channel for further updates.
This stove seems awesome James. Would love to purchase it off you once you get it going as a way to also show appreciation and love for your awesome channel. I'm absolutely addicted to the stanley hacks you have put together and have made several of them / purchased some bits you recommended, after only having the 2 cup set for less than 2 weeks 😂 I hope you can get this stove off the ground. I'm sure I'm not the only fan wanting to send some love and appreciation your way. :)

Can somebody tell me the price of the stove really like its versatility? I know that particular one is not available yet, but I’m just looking for a price.
Simple Theory Gear? Where did you go? Can anyone tell me where I can get my hands on that stove? It looks like the website is no longer live. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
We are in the process of trying to bring back the stove onto the market. Hopefully we'll have something on it in the next couple of months. Stay tuned to the channel for further updates.
I love the show man it is one of the funnest things is to have a nice warm drink when you're out in the woods and that trick you use to cool off your drink I used to do that with beers or sodas coffee cup just like you did there whatever and if it was deep I would tie a string to the rings on the sodas or beers or a plastic bag tie it to the Shoreline and drop them in the water to cool from the creek heck I even did it with fish to keep them cool until I was ready to cook them up this is a pretty neat little stove set
I've heard you say that you can get the mug that fits over the bottom of the Stanly cooker, at Walmart ? What size cup is that, & did u say Sierra was the brand. My new stanley cook set should be here this week !!
I believe it's just called an 18 Oz nesting cup. It's made from stainless steel and you can find it in the camping section of walmart. Thanks for watching and for your question.
They're currently out of production, but we are working to bring it back to the market. Please stay tuned as I hope to have a video update on it in the next couple of months.
i bought a Pack stove XL i love it , and Mac was a very nice guy and very helpful . so sorry that he had to close his business . the pack stove is awesome.
Yes, it's a really great upgrade. All the features of the original but tweaked to be a hotter and more efficient burn as well as a better nesting of the cookset AND cup which is how a lot of folks carry it. Thanks for watching and commenting, my friend!
I like this stove but can't find it. Where is it being sold and how much is it I am always grabbing both fatwood in the woods along with dry kindling wood for small twig wood stoves that I mite carry along with an alchaloe stove and this would work very well with what I carry and not add a lot of weight. Can you help me out please on where to but it and how much it is
It is currently off the market. However we are working to bring it back onto the market as soon as possible. Stay tuned to the channel for further updates.
Hi. Love your videos but I had an idea to use your empty hot chocolate package, roll it up leagth wise and use it as a stir stick to save your spoon for something else
I was bummed when i heard they were going out of business. I already had the small one so i bought the larger one when they had their going out of business sale. Great stove. Im glad i have both sizes
Yup. Not getting notifications. Thanks RU-vid :-( I will stick to my BioLight set up but this is a lighter version and works great. Awesome demo as ever James. I also carry wood in a bag!
