Did 30-minute EMOM with two 28kgs yesterday. Felt great first 10 minutes, minutes 11-20 got rough, minutes 21-30 the front squats were no fun....tried to hold form!! Goal is to get to 30-minute EMOM with the 32s. Love this workout!

I've been doing the ABC and another workout (full body calisthenics) 3 days a week like you suggest. I'll have to try this, and working up to 30 mins with double 24kgs is a good goal for me too. After that maybe I'll work on the double 32kgs. Since I've been doing it I've noticed my cardio has improved for judo.

Hi Dan, appreciate all the knowledge you’re sharing, especially in regards to kettlebells and the ABC in particular. My question is, what would you suggest doing on the other one or two days a week you’re not training the ABC (assuming three workouts a week to leave room for recovery)? I’m about finished with Geoff Neupert’s Kettlebell Maximorum which has you alternating days double clean and press and double front squats and single kb snatches. Do you think it would work to snatch once or twice a week or would you suggest a different exercise?
@DanJohnStrengthCoach
@DanJohnStrengthCoach 2 месяца назад
I usually suggest mobility, Original Strength, additional walking. and sports.

Hi Dan, I love the Abc, too. ❤. Just recovering from a lung problem. So like the orihinal questioner after 10rounds I am out of enom (don't want to get over 134bpm, btw age 46) but then I don't stop, I just do the last 20 rounds with as long rest that my pike hr doesn't exceed 134. So I get the volume in, but not enom. I take the whole time I need and then try to compress the rest periods the following workouts. Does that make sense to you?... Also, can't wait to get your Abc book, please keep on with that great work! 💪

Hi Coach! Have you spoken more in-depth about heart rate zones during ABC? You started to comment on this gentleman's HR by saying his was slighly high at the 12 minute mark but stopped yourself before diving into any details. I'm just wondering if you have information or videos put out that go into this a bit more? Thank you!
@DanJohnStrengthCoach
@DanJohnStrengthCoach 2 месяца назад
Not yet. ABC lives in that odd area of HR training. It's not like walking or low end cardio, but it is not nearly as intensive as some other things. I would welcome anyone's workout HR numbers (each set finishes, HR recorded) but I am not sure where to go with it after...
@caselech
@caselech 2 месяца назад
Thank you for your input. I’m planning to run at least a 6 week cycle of ABC after being out of the gym for over a year (sciatica). I am very out of shape in all areas so, that is why this particular question interested me. I’ll be tracking my HR data as well as other fitness metrics as I attempt to rebuild my strength and conditioning foundation. If I find anything interesting, I’ll report back!
@bradleyjish
@bradleyjish 2 месяца назад
Heard you mention the HR. Is there a HR range we should be shooting for with the ABC sir?
@DanJohnStrengthCoach

I use perceived exertion. Usually Maffetone’s numbers work well here

Is there a double kettlebell workout program you can run daily or at least 4-5 days per week?
@DanJohnStrengthCoach
@DanJohnStrengthCoach Месяц назад
Well, that's Easy Strength. I discuss this on my forum (DJU) a lot and it's in the book.
@albertsmith9315
@albertsmith9315 2 месяца назад
Question: what is more important/productive, volume (total rounds) or intensity (strict clock compliance)? I am 66 and have to accept that I can't do what 30 year olds can do with the same recovery. Therefore, I do the ABC with a number of desired rounds and then start each round when I feel "ready", not with excessive rest, just not married to the OTM format. In real results, I average about a minute and 10 to 15 seconds between sets, but my reps are perfect and my volume is always reached. Other than maybe some cardio, is there any problem with this meathod?
@brunodanner7777
@brunodanner7777 2 месяца назад
I'm almost 58 and I do not even think about trying for the emom. My time between sets is closer to 2 min, my heart rate spikes up to high 150's, then I wait till 110ish and go again. Plenty enough 'cardio' for me, almost an Easy Strength ABC.

Am I missing something? Maybe I need to wait for the book, but why not just add a minute each workout? Whenever I’ve done a similar EMOM program I just add a minute each workout until I reach my target time. I then up the weight, half the time and start working back up to my target time.
