Thanks Sean. I do all this stuff but not as often as I should so this has encouraged me to step up the frequency. I’m much more regular on my lifting tho. I’m 60 and a really fast sprinter- just in case anyone reading this thinks it’s all over at 50!

Really great to hear. You are awesome to encourage others by your sprinting success bc sadly even tragically many feel too old to return to sprinting. I can’t and never have imagined that ever could be true. Thanks for sharing! Swan

Just to add, since I was 58 when I started, I didn’t go to max speed for the first 5-6 sessions so as to strengthen tendons and ligaments. Also the usual warm up stretch and jog before each session.

You are still a young guy. I’m 70 and can do 22 full (no kicking) pull-ups, pistol squats and standing dumbbell press of 50 lbs ea. hand for ten reps. I am 6.0 ft. and weigh 158 lbs. Most men and women are way too fat. Average woman in U.S. is over 165 pounds, (sweat hog). Women should not weigh over 125 lbs. Average man is over 195. No wonder they all get CVD, which is just the result of long term type 2 diabetes undiagnosed.

Dr. O'mara you are so awesome. You are now my go to doctor for optimal health information. BTW so many people in the carnivore community specifically downplay the value of extended fasting. I am SO grateful to see that you emphasize it. Extended fasting was what got me into keto which was then what got me into carnivore. Because of your influence I am now getting back into extended fasting. I LOVE that you do it 3-4 successive days a week. I have long been drawn to doing that but needed encouragement that it wasn't excessive.

Follow the money indeed. I recall certain research scientist influencer promoting exercise and fasting mimetics he was developing and the whole comment section was filled with people wanting to know how soon they would be available and how much they would cost, totally oblivious to the fact that fasting and exercise is literally free and available right now haha!

Another great video Sean. You mentioned Paul Saladino who has some good information like yourself. But some big differences between you two - Paul is obviously a huge fan of fruit and honey and not a fan of extended fasting and you have the opposite view. Who's right??!!!!!!

Thanks Sean. Your thoughts and explanations are clear and helpful. Given that some of your audience may have a hip or knee holding them back, please do a video that explains how to work up to a sprint regimen. The idea of it being the most efficient 10 seconds of exertion is spot on. Unmatched. Like you.

Glad you like it chef! Florida heat would be hormetic and so beneficial but probably not hot enough to achieve the same benefits of using a dry Finnish sauna.

Cold and heat shock therapies. Cold water 1 -2 x per week, saunas dry heat, not infrared( penetrates way to deep). 1-2 days a week, fasting, sprinting.

I tried to respond but no luck! I was going to say I could swim under water for 100meters. I wasn’t swimming fast but long control strokes with a glide! The last part of the swim was in shallow water , so if I felt dizzy or bad I could stand up!

Hi Dr. Sean. So nice to see new videos from you! Three questions: How does jumping rope compare to sprinting? How does hot tub compare to sauna? If I am doing alternate day fasting, is it better to sprint on fasting days or eating days?
@DrSeanOMara
@DrSeanOMara 2 года назад
great questions! No comparison both good but sprinting way better mor optimizing. Skip road ten seconds then sprint ten seconds. You will be way more out of breath sprinting…no substitute for sprinting! Hot tub a little more similar to sauna then jump road to sprinting. Sauna better heats entire body including head. More studies better results supporting sauna. Always workout on fasting days. My biggest feeding day I do t workout. My last day fasting when weakest is when I do my most difficult workout! Crush it when most fasted - gives you best results.

Does a steam give the same benefit for heat exposure. We have an infrared sauna but no access to dry Finnish one. Got rid of our hot tub bc of all the chemicals. So, I have a bath tub or steam. Either of those work?

I work in a cold climate that is inside. A warehouse that is kept cold because of the food. I am in this cold for 10 hours a day, it is about 40 degrees there and then the freezers are below 32. Does this help me with the cold therapy??
@DrSeanOMara
@DrSeanOMara 2 года назад
I am not familiar with any studies showing an advantage to mild to moderate long term cold exposure being beneficial over comparable to brief intense cold exposure like cold immersion or cold showers. Long term mild heat on the other hand has been shown in studies to have benefit.

WRONG! I am not a couch potato, I am on my feet all day, most of the time I eat lunch standing up, quite health nut, always doing something, not old either, people think I am my kids (20 yo and younger)sibling not their mom, working out 5x a week, HIT workouts, cook and eat everything from scratch, not pale but Mediterranean complex and I got SKIN CANCER! Please stop spreading misinformation about the non-dangers of the sun! I am the first person in my extended family to get cancer! And I am talking including uncles, aunts, cousins. To top it, I’m also the most health cautious of all of them as well, down to healthy natural cleaning products, body products and I have no vices, no drugs, no alcohol, no smoking not now or ever! So explain it to me if you can, please?
