While I’ve had different special edition OLEDs, I think this one is my favourite. I picked it up in release date (2 days ago). I do wish they had of made it look fancy on the dock and back of the switch like the other special editions. That said, Super Mario is my favourite series of all time, most of my stuff is Super Mario themed so I had to get it. In lieu of a special design, I added a sticker to the front of the dock and back of the switch and they look perfect. I am upset that the slides that attach to the joy cons were black and not blue, because I have a set of other Mario red joy cons that DID come with blue ones with blue straps.
I wish the Zelda OLED did more with the back of the dock and the back of the console itself. The pattern on the back of the console is so stealth that you can't really see it, and almost nobody is going to know it's Zelda unless they know what it is or if I tell them. The joy cons and the front of the dock look beautiful though. I love how the gold changes its tint based on how the light hits it. If I had to choose between this OLED and the one they did in 2021, I'd pick the latter. They put in more effort in that one compared to the OLED. When TTYD comes out, I know I'll be going all out for that though.
Bought mine yesterday, just waiting for it to arrive. I'm also kind glad they chose the "minimalistic" design, because I don't really like how the normal switch oled looks, so it's cool to have a beautiful all red version.
Did you get any of those switches on sale? Man, that is a lot of money. I will say I did get the splatoon and Zelda OLED. I did buy the AC switch Lite too, but I don't need all of the special edition OLED's. That's cool you can afford that though.
Dunno if i'll ever play docked mode my cat has a tendency to knock my stuff off i did upgrade from a switch lite to this i play handheld more so then not so this was a good upgrade for me
I like the Mario oled one I currently have one that would be nice if they make a Donkey Kong Edition brown and yellow for the future as the last special edition or a pink Kirby Edition OLED Switch
Im upgrading to this oled im getting it this Christmas because my old one is getting old i had it since 2017 and its breaking apart like its bending theres a huge gap on the top and the battery percentage is going crazy so I can’t take it out of the dock and bring it on road trips anymore like one time i was out camping with my family and while i was playing mario kart 8 deluxe it died on 75 percent so I tried again because I thought it was a glitch but it did it again so when i got home I emailed Nintendo about it but they didn’t replyed so I decided to just get a updated switch oled and the mario one is perfect because i love mario.
It looks nice but it's just not special enough to call it a Mario themed edition. It's like Nintendo spent two minutes designing it then slapped the Mario name on it. All that blank canvas on the front of the dock could have been used for some nice artwork.
im planning to buy one of regular OLED but im kinda hesitant to buy becuase of the switch 2 rumors, so is it still good to buy one as my first console?
Most new consoles arent that good until 2-3 yrs into their lifecycle. That when they have more game selection to play plus maybe an upgraded model. Think the Switch OLED, PS5 Slim, PS4 Pro etc etc
