Great review there , I took a DE out for a test ride and loved it, but for me the RE would work for me better ,,, so I’ve ordered one and hope to have it next or so 🙋🏻♂️🙋🏻♂️🕺👍👏🫡
1:57 I’d buy the optional taller seat, see Suzuki OEM # 45100-25LD0-CKA, it raises the seat by 30mm (1.18 in). Also get the 38mm taller touring screen, OEM # 94600-25850. There’s also a tinted version, # 94600-25820. As for cruise control, I’d buy an aftermarket set, like the McCruise brand mentioned on many Vstrom forums.
Excellent review, lots of facts, honest opinions and no gushing. I'm going to the NEC this month to have a good look at this bike, I am also sure my local dealer will have a demo bike in ASAP. I'll not be getting rid of my 650 L4 any time soon, but a bit more power and a slightly bigger engine might be a nice addition to the garage.
Suzuki V strom is a bit like Toyota Corolla, or Landcruiser (6 cylinder). Dont do anything amazing, but so reliable, dependable and just get the job done. I agree with calling this new bike somwthing different. Especially seeing as its not a V engine. Still... I'm keen as ride one. And as much as I loke the new 8S for looks and nakedness, the V strom would be more useful all round. Cheers
Bu motorda 5000-6000 devirlerde sağ bacakta titreşim ve motor sıcaklığı hissedildiği doğru mu?Ön cam rüzgarı kesmede yeterli mi?Türkiye'den selamlar,teşekkürler.
Liking this...went from a Tracer 900 to a Tracer 700(which is great around Argyll and the lower Highlands-all you need),this is probably the happy medium? Good thing with the DE out first, plenty add ons are available, a nice pair of gold hubs with blue, wire spoke rims would look great on that, especally for Norway/Sweden/Finland with unmetalled roads...on the list to see at the NEC. P.S; Great area that...i've got a wee village there i hide the truck in,on my 45hrs off, been back down on the bike, great roads/scenery!
@@marksimpson5218 Bought a GT that was hit from the rear when it was 4 weeks old, had sorted for under £100(supposed to be a Cat B ,break only),but because of Covid it never got registered, so with the profit off of that and my 2017 Tracer 900, I got a 700cc new in October 21 with a private plate at the cost of no outlay... moved forwards 4yrs! As I couldn't go anywhere abroad, a 700 is all you need in Argyll and the highlands! Comfier,a lot lighter, and looks better too!
@@marksimpson5218 Cost me nothing to move forwards 4yrs (made some money off of the GT I sorted),weight,comfort,etc...I had a test ride on a 700cc back in 2021,just a better fit!
Brilliant, it would help if you stated your height and leg measurement? seat looks a bit cramped and at 6'1" and a 32" inside leg it might feel cramped to me?
@@BikeMatters Thanks, I thought he looked fairly tall, might fit me a lot better at 6'1" and I suppose there may be a taller seat option and a foot peg lowering kit available at some point also. Looking forward to seeing the bike in the flesh soon.
I'm in the same boat as you and will need to have a test ride to see if it fits. Happily, there is a higher seat option in the extras catalogue. @@roadwarrior8560
Hessler offers IMO the best looking aftermarket windscreen for the V-strom 800. I'm considering getting the RE and getting the Hessler Rallye windscreen, and moving the indicators into the handguards.
I dunno but I think vstrom is right now hot topic anywhere you look I see more ppl on them and I got myself one too I just wish that they have RE/ that DE will be more dualsport like dual hight foot brake. Clutch and brake leaver adjustable and anti crash ones gear shifter leaver more aggressive for off-road and proper off road 50/50 tires this bike is already great as vanilla but I could be better with small adds on and no I don't care for cruise control and I'm happy it have tubes ppl who never go down 15 psi should not bother with off-road bikes at all imo.
Nice review & seems like a really decent bike. Although the colours schemes are disappointing imo & make it look quite bland & a bit dull tbh even if it isn't.
The 800DE is a great bike (with a few annoying flaws). Here someone made a nostalgic trip to the old 650; seat too low, legs too bent, suspension travel too small, weighs too much.
Why would anyone want spokes? might look good to non bikers outside a coffee shop but to anyone who knows they are just a pain to maintain and totally unnecessary.
it's an easy add on though when the bikes ride by wire, they should fit it as standard, great to rest the grip on long rides. If you don't need it don't use it but it should at least be an option, it's a no brainer nowadays.
It's almost impossible to use cruise in the UK for more than a few minutes at a time, as our roads are so congested. I appreciate the market is so much bigger than the UK, but really, why all the noise?
I have a DR650 and a VStrom 800de. Both great bikes, but very different. The DR feels like a bicycle in comparison, and maybe I'm a bad rider, but the DR is my weapon of choice for anything more difficult than a dirt road. I love both bikes, and both are staying in my garage! But, if you ride mostly street there is no comparison.
What is Suzuki doing with this bike? Most people who buy adventure bikes, primarily use them for touring/long journeys etc. Now for me there are 2 major issues with this model, firstly, there's no cruise control. The biggest glaring issue is that. With that big 20 litre tank, you're going to be able to do some long mileage with it. Yet without cruise control, that's really missing the mark here. Secondly, not much of a deal breaker, but no phone connectivity, USB charging, maps etc is yet another big flaw for this tourer. It doesn't matter how good the ride, the comfort, design or price, there are more tech supported bikes out there that I for one, would have on my must have options be paid extras or not.
Spunk out another £20Grand on top of this and buy a fully equipped GS1300 with all your car gizmos... as a guy who took a Honda Fireblade round Europe with only stuff I could fit in my pockets, great trip,65mpg from the old girl average... no weight!
@@williamrae9954 you're missing the point, this bike is a middleweight adventure bike. People looking for 1200-1300cc based tourer won't be looking at this. More importantly, cost. The new BMW F 800 GS is a more direct comparison come 2024. That is more likely to be the king of middleweight bikes.
@@AdamForeman No you're missing the point(there nothing biking I haven't done),they all get you from A - B...or if you're Ed March, C as well...on a C90!
@@CollinMac96 cite your sources? Wikipedia (I know its not that reliable) says: The name V-Strom combines V, referring to the bike's V engine configuration, with the German word Strom, meaning stream or current.[11] See, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_V-Strom_650.
Suzuki said that the 'V actually stands for Versatile' at the launch of the GSX-8S & V-Strom 800DE, it's up to you if you want to believe them on that though!
But it's super-mega-fugly as Aussie Kev would say...as someone who owned both standard and GT of the first generation... I went back down to the 700cc which is more aesthetically pleasing to the eye!
@@williamrae9954 😂 the gen 3 CP3 engine is a real peach. I can’t agree or disagree regarding the looks. I find whatever bike, manufacturer or version, someone will always think it’s ugly. Unless of course, it has a traditional round headlight. 🤔
But predictable unfortunately. Most of it's competitors don't have it but as soon as one of them has the balls to add it, they will all follow suit asap. Although Suzuki don't lead they follow these days so unlikely they'll be the first.
