@@rodionpohodnia3905 Its a T-72. The same thing as a Russian tank. What are you on to about?? A two plane axis stabilizer is relatively too easy to be applied. Stop with your ooooo german ones can beer when other modern tanks literally can do it as well. Its the most BASIC thing to apply when developing equipment with larger calibers
Any modern tank with a stabilization system can do what you are talking about...even the T-90 and T-14 can do it. That's 80s tech. Yes, this is a dig at Russian armor that can't even take a mine hit or withstand a hit in general, won't be broken down, or they don't even have enough to equip a tank battalion. Armor made of paper mache, claiming they can stop an M829A4 APFSDS, looking like it only has one forward speed and the other 7 are for reverse.
@@Deathbomb9 cant take anything? Theres literallt t90 in ukrain that is still going strong after like 10-20 rpg hits on it, 0 penetrated to crew and theres videos of t series getting hit with javelin and nlaw and drive it off 😂 havent seen any western tank drive off kornet or 20 rpgs 🤔 must be worse made then 😂😂 or the fact that no tank on this planet can withstand antitank rounds like they used to in ww2 for example? U know explosives get better and better but armor cant so thats why was it us marines or what group who is ditching abrams becose its useless in modern warfare soo... nice propaganda try, you will get them next time! :)
@@Deathbomb9and what about mines? Half of destroyed western tanks are from mines so you are literally saying that russian tanks are sht becose they cant withstand antitank mines or rockets but when neither can western tanks, what does it make those? 🤡😂
@jon3mi3s And a challenger tank took 70 hits from a RPG and the crew survived. Also the difference is is that when a western tank hits a mine, the crew 9 time sour of ten is unharmed, when a Russian tank get hit its turret becomes part of the Russian space program. Also I find it funny when Russia shows videos they are always low quality grainy explosions far off in the distance, and Ukraine puts it in HD-4K. You can replace the tank, you can’t replace the crew, new crew take years to train, however considering Russia is resorting to WWI trench warfare because they haven’t a clue how to conduct modern warfare. They claimed they would take Ukraine in 3 days, this war has been going on for more than a year now. So much for 3 days. Also Russia has lost what? 4,555 of the “super advanced T-90” Tanks in my opinion are outdated, I don’t know why nations still use them. It shows in Ukraine that tanks are easy targets for Javelins, RPG’s and drones.
@@SanderHydraNew item unlocked: Scope armor Pros: -never lose sight on anything -every tank caught in 4k (even russian bias) -big amount of vision ports blocking every single AP Bonus: increased skill issue frustration Cons: -Only 200mm frontal armor -no good protection from HE -expensive to repair
Just a note: 140mm shell compared to 120mm shell contains approx. 2 times the propellant and possibly the same in length (apfsds) which means alot faster and more penetrating dart
Wow that's incredible, I was wondering about the impact of the size increase but didnt know the math. You reckon the US will also adopt the 140mm for their mbt because it would be favorable for NATO to have commonality in ammunition types in their weapons even if the platform itself is not the same?
@@happykiwi how can US adopt it? They're extremely wasteful and inefficient in military production. By the time they manage to do that, it will be obsolete. Actually EU is now the same.
Nope, darts are getting longer again. Hence why so many new guns are using autoloaders. Just too long for a manual loader to handle. If you're 5'11", have fun loading a shell the same height as you.
I think the darts are approaching their physical limits in speed by now. Guess all that propellant is mostly going to be needed for heavier darts (i.e. thicker uranium/tungsten core "telescopic" darts).
140mm is not for certain. That is the french proposal from Nexter, France has started some tests using a modified Leclerc tank with a newly design 140mm gun which seems to have done extremely well during testing. Rheinmatel (Germany) has also toyed with various canons, incluinding a 130mm gun with a shorter barrel which was portrayed as a good compromize.
@@WhiskeyJack.Drone jammers are a thing, russians and Ukrainians use them. This thing also has a 30mm auto cannon which might be helpful on shooting down drones.
@@pipopoikapelaa5468 That's one of the express purposes of the autocannon system, as far as I'm aware. Several autocannon systems have been built to address the issue.
140mm is too big. I *ve read that the 130mm has even more power than the 140mm. Not to mention nato's new caliber will be 130mm. And there is also the storage problem with 140mm. Even 130mm has this problem.
@@Kurikost_ That doesn't mean they shouldn't try different things, to innovate you must look beyond the status quo. Stagnation is the enemy of innovation
Failed concepts these have no mass production cause they suck while T14 rolls out dozens in few months Edit: you all mad the t14 is getting produced while KF ABX is in trash can lol
finaly the project took a major step. French and german engenieers and managers of the project came to an understanding. This is a rare event for the french. lets se were this goes.
it goes as ever french-german project: A not very useful and maintenance-heavy item with costs out of control, software bugs payed by germany and built in france
@@MarcAdelhütte yeah not usefull like the eurocopter tiger. Wich litterally saved the lives of a lot of french soldiers in mali, and was very efficient.
They weren't so much ridiculing them as much as just deciding against them since the ones available in the past were too unrelieable and maintenance heavy - seems they have figured that one out.
That's why the crew is reduced or not necessarily inside the tank. The armour is also upgraded. Like saving lives is the entire design concept of every western tank now. So mentioning it would be like "water is wet"
@@teaser6089 everybody’s tanks get stuck in mud, and you’re probably right… if NATO and Russia actually went to full blown war, we’d all be dead long before mud mattered. Fortunately though, neither side wants to end the world…. So we’re back to a conventional conflict, which, in this day and age, would mean asymmetric warfare. Tanks matter in the context of a land war between Russia and Ukraine because they share a border, the United States and Russia however, do not. Russia isn’t going to be using tanks in a war with the United States…. And the United States isn’t likely to use tanks in a war with Russia. NATO of course is a whole different can of worms because they do share borders and they do love the traditional set piece choreography of tanks….. but most future conflicts are going to be determined to buy drone systems and air power, not tank maneuvering

There are so many lines and curves that don't serve any purpose. It hurts me to watch. I know it's a prototype, but if they want to mass produce this, they'll have to change a bit
Aight im a be honest, the KF51 looks better so far. This things got too many extra thingies that probably don't work. The French professor gadget'ed a little too close to the sun here if you ask me. But in the end if it's at least functional it'll probably be chosen over the KF51 for Diplomacy bullcrap
Almost like the Thymus-14 Armata, that tower is a fire trap. It would make more sense for it to be a little higher but not attract as much fire into vulnerable areas and equipment.
the 30mm will probably be used for drone defense, infantry surpression or threats in buildings that main gun cant elevate to shoot. I'd be suprised to see it not having some kind of APS. Theres no way the gun is designed to deal with ATGM's, they're way too fast for that @@memberberries9813
It’s a usual modern tank but what’s interesting is the autocannon with possibility of air burst which gives tanks defense against drones and that could be a game changer
K2 Black Panther is already fielded in Poland (and soon in Romania too). How long would it take for this one to even start production... 10 years? 20 years?
But we know from trials in Norway that the K2 gets matched by the Leopard 2A7, and that tank is already on the market as well. The EMBT, KF51 and Leopard ARC 3.0 projects are all for the *next* generation of MBTs, or rather a near-future intermediate stopgap until MGCS is ready for deployment.
I still would take the German vehicle over the French one, the german one sits taller and is bulkier, but everything is internalized and its drones are stored in tubes in the turret.
Never trust a tank that is doing it's best to look "Futuristic" with all those angles. If it doesn't have tested and functional APS it's a non-starter anyway.
The reality: an expensive tank, difficult to produce, not suitable for high-level combat like that in Ukraine, which requires quantity as well as quality. It seems that the West does not understand the hole it is digging itself into, especially Europe.
Based on the hull of the leo 2? I doubt that. The leo 2 hull is the biggest issue with the leo 2. It is at the end of its live. So either you mean "based" as in rebuild with inspiration from or "based" as in slapped a new rurret on that bad boy. And just to be clear, it is the first. It is a new hull using a similar suspension to the leo 2 instead of the leclercs (which was the other option) And It is a concept. There is no plan to build it or the robot tanks. It is essentially a proposed upgrade for the 2018 E-MBT programm which is the one the article shown in the video was reffering to.
As seen in the video, the tank appears to have hardkill APS systems, so conventional ATGM's and RPG's would be rather meaningless against them. And as it stands, Russia has no systems like the Javelin.
