I feel like the picture should’ve said “you’re my favorite TA”, and title should’ve said “professor” because I normally would not have listened to this (I’m a former middle school teacher, so I don’t consider college professors teachers, they are much higher lol) because there’s something about a “teacher and a student”. It just doesn’t work for me (but a professor and an adult TA totally different)

truthfully, I'm not coming here to hate on this video. Just shedding light on a sensitive topic for some people. I'll be honest it's a long story- basically, as a sophomore in high school I can say that as a freshman last year, my algebra teacher (a man with a wife and kids) towards the end of the year started acting weird around me in class. We had a different math teacher at the beginning of the year then switched cause she got a promotion at a different school, so we moved classes. The first few months were alright just that I could tell he was kind of eccentric, and abnormal with his relationship with the students in class. Often going off-topic from lessons, trying to become "friends" with students, and getting more intimate/close to students than I care to believe is okay, and I might have even been the only one to report him. I'll just say how it happened... It was during STAAR testing week or sometime after the fact. I was dressing a bit differently and I colored my hair, but in no way was I dressing provocatively. I remember walking into class a few times with a sick feeling in my stomach, and even an email I read from him to me for teacher appreciation day was a bit odd, saying he always looked for "my" reactions in class, appreciating me as a student and a person, and being quite friendly but not in the professional sense. In class one day he commented on how my hair looked different, saying it "matched my soul" which is already a bit awkward to tell a student. but not as weird as it gets. I walked into class one morning, 3rd period, and as I'm walking in he speaks, "hey beautiful :)" and all of a sudden my stomach dropped... trying to shake it off, I sit at my group desk waiting for my friend to arrive (spoilers: she doesn't come, making me the only one at that table, and the closest to his desk) I take out some paper and a pencil and start drawing to take my mind off things. As the last few people make it into class, he walks in. once again, he speaks up out of the blue "You're just so beautiful!" singling me out, then people got quiet. I didn't know what to say back, so I said "thank you" hesitantly, and moved on. It doesn't end there, while I was trying to peacefully color the page I was drawing, he comes and sits with me at the table, and I'm alone. At this point, I'm nauseous beyond comprehension and feeling scared. surely since we're in class, he won't try to do anything will he??? WRONG. he rolls over in his chair and comments on how cool my art is, and then he starts talking about other things unrelated to my art. He told me I had nice eyes, then he noticed a spot I had on my arm... He decided to sit a little closer without my permission, then he asked if he could touch my arm. I freaked out and quietly told him, no, and somehow it still gets worse. He paused for a moment then dared to ask, "why?". Like I need any sort of reason to tell you not to touch my arm sir?! he said "too weird?" like- heck yeah, I feel invalidated right now! so I politely tell him "yeah, it's a bit weird" then look down and he rolls back to his desk. he did a few other weird things and truthfully if I hadn't told my guy friend about it, he wouldn't have gotten reported and this could've gotten worse... Also, the way the admin tried handling it made no sense, they were telling us his "excuse" and they were almost no help at all, but thankfully my mom stepped in and talked to them about it. But- I have the coolest full circle moment right now, like- wow karma. A couple months ago I was late for class (fast forward to sophomore year) I go upstairs to get a tardy pass and usually I'm not late but traffic was bad so that's what I had to do. I make my way upstairs and to the tardy line, they have a teacher issuing the slips, and guess who's there?? My freshman algebra teacher! I walk up, trying not to wince or make myself known to be seen as feeling morbidly uncomfortable, get my pass, and he says to me "have a nice day" unlike the other students which whom he was conversing with. I walked away feeling so powerful and like yeah, I'm not afraid of you! (he still makes me uncomfortable, but now when I see him I don't feel fear) so seeing him see me for the first time formally was weird but now he can't harass me anymore and hopefully, he can't harass other girls either. This is my story, and I hope you understand, just cause this triggered me in a way I cannot truly explain.
For things like this I always think the listener is a non-traditional student somewhere in the age range of the prof and they're more coworkers than prof/student.
