Here we go again , our best ever , it’s the longest driver we have produced, it’s the most forgiving, oh by the way we are about to rip you off once again .
Titleist only produces Drivers every other year and just about always has some performance gains compared to the previous model. Your description fits taylor mades cheap junk to a T
Idk. Kinda underwhelming. I love titleist. These from a looks perspective from my eyes look like they were designed before the TSR line. The GT line looks like it should have been release after TSI and than TSR last. TSR is the cleanest and nicest looking of the 3 in my opinion. But performance talks the most. I’m sure these will perform well and will see how it stacks up to the TSR
When it comes to drivers, Titleist is in a set of "golden handcuffs." The brand has a lot of tour players and loyalists who like the classic, black, glossy look of its drivers. They don't want wild colors or shapes or visual distractions, but they want better performance. That can be a tough chore for a design team. But, as you point out, better performance is the ultimate goal, so we'll see how it plays. - DD
The TSi3 was a super-popular driver with tour players and served as the shaping model for the TSR2 and TSR3. That shape is being retained, at least to my eyes, in the GT lineup. If you like the TSR3, from a looks perspective, you'll like the GT2 and GT3, but going from one generation to the next in drivers typically only yields modest performance changes, but again, we'll see. - DD
Expected a bit more to be honest. A little disappointed by the release, was hoping for some carbon in the heads and i think the TSR range looks better.
Considerably dumb down design compared to previous generations of Titleist drivers. I don't see anything here that's going to knock a TSR3 out of the bag. Did they move away from ATI?... I don't see a designation on the face.. Anyways.. IMO, Titleist could have done better..
I actually like that Titleist and other leading brands are not copying this awful full carbon construction of Tatlormade….I tested the AI SMOKE Triple diamond and the QI10 LS driver and titanium is still streets anead of the carbon in feel and response through the hands….not raining on the Taylormade parade…i play with the TM hi toe 3 lob wedge tour grimd and its out of this world… but for me…the carbon does not work….big question is will Taylormade go back to titanium face or a new space age metal for their next season offerings. I could not believe how poor the QI 10 ls felt…but maybe its just me having played metal drivers my whole career….ive also played laminated wood to and would rather go with maple than the carbon.
Taylor made parade belongs in the circus. Their drivers are junk! I've owned 2 Taylor Made drivers, and both had multiple failures/breakages. Carbon face is garbage!
These are so far the ugliest and the least interesting drivers Titleist has come out with in the past 10 years. Performance might be a different story but looks wise I’ll stick to the TS drivers
I get a kick out of all the big name company's saying each years new drivers will go at least 5-10 or more yds from the previous year models . so I have a driver that's about 10 years old that I carry about 240 yds so buying a brand new one 10 years later that baby should carry about 340 yds I don't think so ??? All the company's tout it Callaway Titleist Taylor made and more .
@HighSpinSwingSpeed 2 weeks - Comment, (see below) well done for your comment, it is NOT to induce fade/draw bias, it puts the mass behind the invidual swing/strike on the face. Tired of hearing this fade/draw stupid comment, do your research, any golfer with an extreme out to in swing could put a 5kg weight at the heel of the club and they will never draw the ball.
The look in the address position is based on TSi3, which was a PGA Tour favorite. TSR had the same look in the address position, and it's carried over to GT3. - DD
These seem to be no different than the TSR line, just slightly different looking…adjustments seem identical…at least the GT3 is identical to my TSR3 and the GT2 is identical to the TSR2…did I miss something? Great looking clubs, but unless there is better tech in them, like 10K, to increase the consistency of off-center hits, don’t see buying one…
Based on what I saw and history, the GT2 appears to be the higher-MOI, higher-stability driver, while the GT3 was made with better players and golfers who want shot-shaping in mind. The GT4 will likely be a lower-spinning option. - DD
Judging by the Titleist posts, I think you will see a small increase in ball speed efficiency but a muted sound across the whole line. Sounds carbonish?
@@Joey1970T Titleist used carbon fiber in the crown of the 909D Comp back in 2008, and I’m fairly certain this driver does not have a carbon fiber in it.
Fall release to the public is stupid. People buy drivers in the spring and early summer. That's just one reason why TaylorMade and Callaway always beat Titleist.
Historically, you're right, but retailers in the Sun Belt have been clamoring for brands to bring out new products in the fall when Snowbirds return and play a lot of golf in Floriday, Arizona and other warm-weather places leading up to the holidays. Also, with so many companies releasing products in January and early February, if a company wants to stand out in the crowd and create some buzz, dropping products mid-season (June, July or August) can let a brand get the spotlight to itself for a while. - DD
@@Wwaandaaar it would be a trademark, not a patent. Ford uses GT as do many others. I believe ford tried to claim a trademark on it years ago but failed. Doubt Porsche lawyers will be calling.
Beautiful looking clubs... Just to clarify one thing you said... The Weight movement on the 3 is not to change ball flight. It's to change spin on where you miss the ball on the face basically adjusting the sweet spot.
Sorry if I was not clear. On the GT3, the moveable weight can be shifted from side to side or, from heel to toe. That moves the center of gravity toward the heel or the toe, depending on the setting, and that can create either a draw or fade bias. On the GT4, players will have forward and back CG adjustability, so you will be able to increase or decrease spin and launch. - DD
@@DavidDusek That's not really true. The weight is meant to be positioned to put more mass behind the spot where the player consistently makes contact. It's not enough weight to really affect draw/fade bias. There's a reason Titleist uses heel/toe designations and not draw/fade for the "3" clubs.
@@dwboston1it’s actually a little bit of both. It can certainly affect the balance of the club, and moving the weight will affect how the club face squares during the swing… although minimally, better players be able to tell the difference
Titleist doesn't even claim that the moveable weight affects ball flight. That's why they went away from draw/fade terminology to heel/toe. It's there to provide more mass behind the spot where the golfer makes consistent contact on the face. From TSR3 description: "The refined SureFit Adjustable CG Track System makes it easier to position that focused hitting zone where you want it and dial in the exact setup you need to generate maximum ball speed and performance."
@@dwboston1 Correct. If you have a slice, it's not going to magically make it go straight. If you are a tour player, you will see a few yards of movement between each setting. It's subtle, and that's the point. Personally, I have it set to H1 as it reduced my stock fade by about 3 yards on average, which is the flight I prefer. The guys that are playing the TSR2 simply use hot melt to achieve the same thing. It's all about minor tweaks to get the feel and flight they prefer.
I think the design team have done a great job to preserve the classic, purist design cues that their fan base have grown to love, while also somehow managing to give the range a new age vibe with the GT naming and centre stripe, looks very modern and classy. Will be tempting for those with drivers that are coming up 4-5 years old to upgrade. I’m tempted to bench the sim 2 and get one of these. Oh and hey - if you own a TSI OR TSR series driver and have money then I think Titleist have probably done enough here to tempt you, go for it, I won’t judge you.
David thanks for the video and info. Just curious I have an extra set of Cobra 3D irons for sale. Do you know anyone interested? I was able to get two sets, going to game one and sell the other. Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. Have a good one.
Great looking drivers. Personally I took my TSi-2 driver and added 10 grams of weight with a replacement from Maltby which hugely upped my M.O.I. And I’m finding fairways like never before. Love Titleist.
