New TNT Plant in Finland: to Produce More Artillery Shells

Production capabilities of NATO countries are not enough even for Ukraine - so countries are actively building TNT and gunpowder plants. Including Finland, which desires to be able to produce more artillery shells in the following years to comply with its own needs and strengthen the NATO alliance simultaneously. This is no surprise as the threat of Russian aggression is literally in the air in the region of the Baltic Sea.

@@paullangford8179 So one could think but gunpowder is a similat thing yet the Lapua rounds became very sought after by shooters due to their very high quality.

@@paullangford8179yet, somehow those North Korean shells that were sold to Russia were either decades old and stored under rain or they just sucked at making them. The quality was horrible 🤷🏻‍♂️

No we are not. Ww2 was what it was. We have no trust towards east, but we have also no need what so ever to go back. We are a nation of peace and that's why we have a large military. Just to keep us safe. Nothing else.

Finland has concept called total defense which include the whole country, it means that in step 9 Takara Toys sympathetic Truck shifts to Optimus Prime within 72 hours.

2:25 probably should had mentioned Toveri is Major General and ex-director of the Intelligence Division of the Defence Command than just random politician. He got popular/visibility and therefore elected to parliament by constantly asked by tv channels to comment Ukraine war

Of course it is. Finland produces artillery shells domestically, so having TNT manufacturing within the same country makes logistics that much easier and also safer. You can't develop anything if you are only imagining how it might be destroyed one day if things turn bad.

i has before made artillery ammo, 3 year eweryday to Finland army. somewere in Finland have all this ammo stored lot. and i not has only who made lot ammo, many factory made same.

The decision should have been made 24 moths ago and they would now be producing their product and start building up their shell stockpiles for those _just in case_ times. Political decisions and discussions make molasses look like it has a massively low viscosity.

This is not for fixing something acute. Because there's no shortage of TNT in Finland, having this factory 24 months earlier won't change anything. That stuff is stockpiled for wartime production and not just artillery shells but wide variety of explosive devices like AT-mines, hand grenades and simply as demolition charges. It very cheap and easy to manufacture, it last very long time in storage. However in long term not having TNT manufacturing locally(=Nordic) has big obvious risks and this factory intend to fix that problem.

We finns have tnt for 6months of total war ready if needed. This does not include what will be prodused. 1500 artys and heavy mortars will spam shells 24h a day if needed

it is political decision, not something military can decide themselves to use budged on (they also need additional funds for it). Also private companies will not add new production unless military can guarantee orders for long time
