@Ronny Dahl your editing was next level, camera work was exceptional. I’ve watched this 3 times already to enjoy the whole process. Excellent mate! 11/10.
Pretty brave tackling the Brunswick and Holland tracks with all the rain we've had down here lately....... but at least it makes the beach sand much easier to drive on! 👌 Goodonya for having a crack and showing the conditions of these popular local destinations 👍
Killed the alternator in the first proper muddy hole I drove through in my new V8 Troopy, about 2 weeks after I got it, so I feel your pain, took it out and got it working again with a WD40 refurb but I have constant anxiety about it now, and changing it again - pig of a job!
I have a perentie, I move mine up 200mm to the top of the engine bay then chucked a York 210 air compressor beneath it since it isn’t really much electrical bar the E clutch
@@alanmay7929why oh who would they water cool an alternator? They never needed them in the past while they don’t get the weather us aussies do sounds like the Germans just want to justify the BS price tags
@@radaraacf ??? Better cooling is one of them. Also on the vdj the alternator sits low and mud compromises them which is the main reason they fail prematurely. If you want yours to be a road princess I wouldn't bother with the water cooled but if you do a lot of 4WD then I can justify that.
Hey Ronny just on the v8 alternator mud thing. We have run a fleet of 2.8 Hilux’s at my work for about 5 years now. Plenty of mud and water driving due to the scope of work. We’ve found the 2.8s reliably have starter motors fail around the 100,000km mark. Behaves like a low/flat battery. Other than that, they’ve handled the tough love quite well
I think it’s the auto that makes the difference rather than the engine. I recon if Ronny had the choice between a v8 auto v8 manual and 4 cylinder auto and 4 cylinder manual - he’d definitely take the one that would generate the most views and controversy.
Great video Ronny. Especially with explaining the experiences you’ve had with the different vehicles e.g alternators, auto and manual transmissions for a particular off condition etc. Really good stuff.
We did the Holland Track end of May when we came back from Brisbane. When we were halfway through, it started to rain. The Track became very slippery and water everywhere. Not a much as you had. We managed to come through with our Kimberley Kamper in tow but needed the winch once. A great trip.
I started hitting Bornholm beach in the very early; 80.s the only vehicles that that would take it on were the little SUZUKI 50’s and 80’s anything else was a disaster. Great stuff Ronny and thanks again for your work !!!!
Greetings from Finland, regarding sleeping in cold: have a good sleepingbag and do some excercisess before jumping in to it and then take all clothes off. And here at winter we have tents open. No muisture and the sleeping bag keeps you warm. Love your vids, keep It up
Great video Ronny, I do like that bar, as someone that has run a bumper only bar since the early 2000,s I feel that even if you lose a light and guard in a strike, as long as the radiator is protected, you won't be stranded, so unless you're actually pushing through brush, it's a non-issue.
Really enjoyed that episode! Liking the wagon, thinking about getting a wagon when we are back in Australia. Currently traveling in our troppy through Japan on our way to Germany... But seeing yiur videos makes me miss traveling/camping in Australia already ^^
I hope you are enjoying our wonderful hot and humid weather. Enjoy Japan - there are many, many beautiful places to visit. Even if the ridiculously low speed limits and endless traffic lights make things tedious.
@@andrewjones-productions Thanks mate, haha yeah the 40km/h speed limit and traffic... And the humid weather... We just arrived back from Hokkaido and didn't miss either ^^. But we do enjoy our time in Japan (3 month now), but equally looking forward to taking the ferry to south Korea soon.
Did a camp last weekend in nsw high country, -9 degrees at 8am at about 1,000m asl. I don't recommend closing up the swag without expecting condensation dripping down.
Yeah Ronnie, i was going to say. I love my swag, wouldn't swap it for anything but shut the canvas up tight and you're soaked. I'm a winter camper and love it. Swag under a simple tarp, one side open (or both ends), and really good bedding. I always sleep like a baby. 😉 Thanks for another great vid. Keep em coming! JT from Kalamunda.
Very good but don’t like the front bar you know as well as I do when you hit a kangaroo they usually take out front corners there goss your head lights and your guards
If You didn't want to have problem with LED flashing. Get new Sony A9 III with global shutter. It will readout whole frame at once, and You will be free from light flickering and rolling shutter issues ;)
@@SaliseProductions geeks need to chill out in this thread, literally nobody cares. The channel is about driving highly modified vehicles thru mud, water and over rock walls etc
Agree with you on the Offroad Animal bar Ronny. I'm personally not a fan of the new 70s front in either stock or bar work but you've made it look pretty good and its growing on me
Of course it is. The sheep follow the Shepard. The entire series is farce - the worst of all are comments like "Peak outputs are only 1kW less than the V8 diesel but 70Nm more torque." - you know what? 1.6 litre 4 cylinders were producing 1,000HP in F1 in the 80's... look at how long they lasted durability wise. Just like direct injection all this faff is done to appease the vocal minority - the sad thing is the majority always ends up being NPC's following the Shepard because 'it's cool'
@@smackhead I still would never buy one. There is simply no value in a 70 Series. I just think Ronny has been able to make one of the ugliest front ends look decent. Agree with you on the diesels though. Modern 4 cylinder diesels are overrated and highly strung. Will not get the lifespan of the older engines. Petrol all the way!
I dropped my mate's 79 off at the windscreen place the other day, called a taxi to take me into town while I waited. Lady driver said, good looking 79, my daughter won one a few weeks ago in a facebook raffle...
It’s safe to say the V8 is far better from a noise/sound perspective. But the 2.8 absolutely dominates it in every other domain. People can bitch and moan how it’s more highly strung but go online, there at 2.8ls doing 300-400,000kms without any major issues. Proven. Reliable. Safe. *V8 owner cry’s in V8 tears*
Such a machine. I’d love to have one of those beauts. Too bad I can’t afford one but I still love watching your videos. Thanks. Looking forward to the next one. Cheers
12:15 Friendly question. At this time you’ve mentioned the no winch several times. - The track looks like where I am most of the time … There are no trees large enough to anchor a winch cable to. So if that the most common situation, why even think of a winch at all?
Thank's Ronny for all your videos, for sure it seems that this 70 series is realy coll for all ! Hope we can get one soon in France at a raisonable price... not sure !
Loved the rig mate good setup!! I'm trying to tose up on a winch for my 79 single cab and I was curious what winch your thinking about going with and why!! Keep up the good work🤙
Can you do a video covering the Autonomous Emergency Braking and lane assist in this vehicle? Don't like the idea of it in a bare bones 4x4 feels like it defeats the purpose of it. Great videos keep up the good work 👍
I think it’s the auto that makes the difference rather than the engine. I recon if Ronny had the choice between a v8 auto v8 manual and 4 cylinder auto and 4 cylinder manual - he’d definitely take the one that would generate the most views and controversy I think the new bar looks like it restricts airflow to the intercooler air intakes.
The Barr looks okay but...Phat Bars in Brisbane arselling a nice one which in my opinion has more of a heavy duty look but it weights 100kg and of course ATD Barrs which also looks nice but defenitly over priced...thank you RONNY for posting
Loving the new 70 series. What happened to the Grenadier and will we see it again? Also, will you get the rear track width corrected with a corrected axle or just with spacers? Looking forward to the next episode 🤘
All seems effortless so far in the 76 Ronny. Probably nearly everyone would’ve thought What the hell have Toyota done putting a 2.8L in a 70 series? Including me. The under engined 4bees have got you from a to b, but have been far from great, and some a disaster.
Fantastic as usual, not sure on the trip time difference, Pete from WACA is currently releasing his Holland track series and it is quite dry. The Bar looks great as does the recovery point. Crazy how slick the track becomes with a little rain
I won't argue that the Bar looks alright, but I would prefer to find something that covers the front end a bit better. With the new vehicles now a days you never know what will cripple it and not let it move from the most simplest things!! With that said I am going to want your opinion on the CrashPad Sleep System. I just tried mine out this last weekend and I had some complaints and hopefully you have some pointers.
@@Ronny_Dahl for me it's with the sleeping bag itself. The Swag has been Awesome. I noticed that in Single Mode the sleeping bag seemed to be a bit small for just myself. It didn't matter if it was setup for Smer or Winter.
Was after your thoughts on towing, with the auto transmission do you recommend normal auto mode or manual mode and picking a gear, so many different opinions I don't know who to believe so clarity would be great if you could help, I am driving a 150 Prado towing a 2.5 tonne caravan (if maxed out) which I try to avoid cheers for any advice.
