As an electronics enthusiast, I really enjoy your videos. Your sandwich ratings are interesting as well. Please stay safe out there, that's a lot of juice!
Permanent infrastructure with steel/aluminum/carbon fiber/concrete mast arms & poles looks a hella lot better than everything hung from wires from 4 wood poles. Don't you think?
I have heard the round connectors referred to as ''mil'' or military style. Some call them amphenols as a reference to the major brand that makes them.
Do you have any of these systems that are changing over from (what looks like) mainly serial connections to an ethernet based system? I work in hospitals on Nurse call systems and this reminds me of the old LV stuff it used to run on. It's all networked and fancy now. Nice cable work!
I subscribe to your channel and learn a great deal. Appreciate your detailed commentaries. I am posting this publicly, because of a question and perhaps one of your municipal or utility "watchers" might be able to help me. Our non-profit entity is trying to locate a copy of the Eagle EF-70 Pretimed Controller Maintenance Manual. Generally, these were units which graced towns, highways as well as many cities, in the 1970-1990 period. This was a "Heavy Duty" controller complete with a system master and additional options. We need the wiring diagram to do some diagnostics on a unit recently donated to our organization. Is there anyone out there who can help?
1:25 Why do they spend the money switching to the mast arms when the old method seems to be working just fine? Several intersections by my house got switched over and I see no functional gain...
Maybe federal funding compliance? We had dozens of intersections completely refitted a few years back because they were out of compliance. The mere inches they were off could have been waived with a pen stroke and saved millions in tax dollars used to replace equipment with many years of life left in it.
