Took an idea that worked perfectly fine for years, changed it, ended up with an unnecessarily large/heavy/complicated machine. Good job.

Ok comment " normal product" took yrs to get where big mfg are at. Not all units worked real well. Even JD did some real guff ups. 8630 4 wheel drive. Was ok under smaller loads 8430 same transmission. Farmers put bigger tires more weights fluid etc pulled bigger impliment got bog trans problem. Rember one Cdn Mb idea to haul all chauf ever thing into yard no weed seeds in field. We had seed biz had thought of this but too many changes required. Old thrashers had central feed. Farmers tried other ideas. Take thresher to the crop. Etc. Times change. Use Robitic units etc. Hopper Carts etc. I had a 55 ft protype air seeder in 1980. Early air seeder were tried Some had troubles. Others inproved. Glearner cobines L2 windrow plus grat for straight cut. No so good on windrow. Stone trap was crap too. Canola nope. Was traded the next day for JD. Rotory much same troubles. So dont say ( u r just showing how very little you actually know) some silly comments. 2/3 of engine power is wasted heat. Call us 1 403 830 4124 only 1/3 energy goes into harvesting. And you likely have a hopper cart now too. THINK out side the " box" "A"

Hay Day I think you just made his point for him 😂. It has no market share at all. They can build all the prototypes they want but if it’s not selling units it’s pointless. Every video I have seen on it, it’s going slow with a small head. It is kinda pointless. The combine market has exploded in the last 5 years each one topping the next with bigger, faster, more efficient. Who knows, maybe they will pull something off with this design but they have their work cut out for them.

The concept was more storage between header and grain cart for more room with trucks coming but we fixed that problem in Australia decades ago with field bins, can store 50+ ton in the paddock, only needs a little 50hp tractor to run one so is way cheaper, this created an issue then tried to solve it

@Suedeman
@Suedeman 4 года назад
@@strantonoftedahl2723 any efficient way of transferring the chaff is going to have problems with the articulation. That's just the cost of the turn point in the middle gotta make a sacrifice but its no good if that chaff ends up in the hopper or clouds out the grain cart operator
@nfordf450

I see a lot of talk about soil compaction here. Well. Considering a tractor hauling a chaser cart normally carries more weight on thinner tires then this tribine* and as it’s meant to replace the chaser tractor and cart on large fields. I think this would be a cost effective and soil saving option. 1. It’s a one pass deal with this. No chaser tractor or cart to compact ground all over. And the other complaint was the extra engine on the harvester. Well that in turn cost less then the maintenance of the added chaser cart and tractor you would need for conventional harvesting. So I’m thinking complaint 2 is also blown out of the water there as it’s 4 bearings instead of 6 more wheels on the ground to fix. So as long as there might be a opportunity to spread the weight of this over more ground. Like dual wheels. This might actually be worth the expense. Just wish they had a better windrow system for the ones that bale the straw. Chopping is nice. But it don’t bed the cows.
@torell95secto
@torell95secto 6 лет назад
So even ignoring soil compaction the biggest reason you run a chaser cart is to keep the combine moving. which 300 bu vs 1000 bu if your unloading from the combine sure! but instead of the chaser unloading into the truck now your combine is. Also i cant help but wonder what any sort of hills do to a machine this long. Sadly as cool as it is i think its niche.
@nfordf450
@nfordf450 6 лет назад
torell95secto yes I can see your point there. I grew up in western Maryland. Fields are smaller in the foot hills and mountains. Right now I’m in southern Illinois. Looking at the fields close to me are large and flat. So it’s more for them and that is a niche market. But a large one still.

@DemoNiq
@DemoNiq 8 лет назад
I'm surprised to see this was updated. It still seems like a very counter productive solution. It's too heavy, too complicated, you do not want to carry around 1000 bushels of grain while harvesting. You want to unload it sooner, to avoid soil compaction. That's why they don't have such big tanks on modern combines.
@DemoNiq
@DemoNiq 8 лет назад
***** are you saying this combine is lighter than other combines? cuz I can tell you right now, just by looking at it - it does not look any lighter. It actually looks very heavy. add 27 tons of grain when full, and you have yourself a very heavy piece of equipment. The reason why combines don't have such a huge tank is because of soil compaction! it would be very easy to just increase the power of combines and put a huge grain tank on it, but that makes it very impractical, inefficient and ruins the soil.
@DemoNiq
@DemoNiq 8 лет назад
Also, I want to point out that you can't preserve the straw to make bales. How about that?
@DemoNiq
@DemoNiq 8 лет назад
no, it doesn't. I've watched every video of it on youtube and checked their website. I'm just questioning whether such a machine is necessary or not. If it does manage to out perform a modern combine, in any aspect (apart from grain cart size), I would be very surprised.

Two flaws i spotted right away...articulation and rear discharge going out the sides. Combines gain and lose weight rapidly in the fields, which an articulate tractor does not. This puts stress on the articulating location. Its like bending wire...eventually it breaks at a critical joint. The design for the discharge is just asking for cloggs, damaged cylinders, and early rust.

At the present time, high bushel corner with the biggest machines require grain carts running beside it. JD has been talking about a 2 engine concept for a long time, and no doubt others have also. At present there are planting out fits that stretch out over 100ft with 1300 bushel carts. A 350 bushel tank on a combine with 45ft header becomes a thing that needs a cart to dump into every 15 minutes. Put 3 in a field and one cart cannot keep up.

Just as the commentators below, can I immediately see many more disadvantages to this machine, than innovation. 1) poor chaff spreader (if you can a pickup, you throw chaff into the next row?) 2) too long for not having a foldable auger 3) high ground compaction from this monster 4) poor lighting (where are the lights btw?) 5) where do you take your grain sample conveniently? 6) needs cameras to see back and auger properly 7) it looks like a small combine actually, the front section is short, how does the separator even work?

From the comments already posted I don't think that they like the combine or the idea it's so big. I would have to agree with those who were concerned with ground compaction. The weight of the machine and the grain and the wagon to haul it in would just make for a terrible 'hard pan' as we call it in the US. I guess there's a market somewhere.

ok so i fast calculated how much is that "bushels" well 1000 bushels = 27.12 Tons of grain ... for what ? 4WD system is just for show - when you carry 27 t of grain + about 15 tons of self weight 4WD system is useless at muddy terrain Tight cornering - seriously 12 meters of header width 27tons of capacity ... to big for small fields, and to useless at big fields ... well everything what wrote upper is meaning less - biggest problem lies in the engine part So the movie says this combine has 2 engine summary generating 590 HP 2 engines means 2x more probability to fail, replacing oil, air filters costs also twice more compare to standard type of combine, well you need also to fill 2x more oil to it - so where is the point ? I guess cheaper and safer solution would be buying two cheaper combines than one so big and complicated

Who is this thing designed for? I mean, articulated, ok - for tight turns - but it has 1000 bushel tank (so we can assume it will only work in huge fields - so it doesn't need to turn that tightly. Permanent 4wd - ok so it goes on rough terrain? what if it's fully loaded with 1000 bushels? does it still work? Probably not. A track combine is much more efficient. This is just a stubborn rich farmer who just wants to see his idea built, but frankly - nobody needs a 4x4 articulated 1000 bushel carrying tribine. I'm sorry.
@JCB411abuser
@JCB411abuser 8 лет назад
ok so a track combine is less efficient, tracks are more expensive, you could fit twice as many tire on this machine for extra cost to use a track system. Tracks are less suitable for road travel making the machine slower between jobs. Combines get stuck, costing alot in downtime and possible damage to the mahcine in retrieving it, any improvement upon this is a good thing which is why all wheel drive is a good thing. 1000 bushel tank, you don't have to fill it when conditions don't allow but it's there when you can, plus in countries like australia where they have very very large fields having more time between unloading should save labour.

500 gallons for 24 hours? 20 gallons an hour, but hey! No DEF!! Wonderful! And I bet it first have exhaust filters or regen either! This could be where the future of farm machinery is headed, is THIS what you wanted EPA? How about revert back to the 98 emission standards, they where good The answer isn't what comes out of the engine, it's what goes in My old mechanical deisl may smell a little when it first starts, but it's gets 27MPG which is better than most modern small cars

Improvments: auger needs to pivot so the driver can see it unloading from the cab without refocusing back and forth from cutting to dumping. Higher visability has proven to decrease errors, as well as operator fatigue due to eye strain. Full width residue distribution is a big turn on in today's agricultural economy, as that residue feeds the next crop, leaving a strip down the middle is a big non sale point for today's farmers. A high capacity fan on each side would be capable of spreading that residue behind the machine via ducts. This should spread the residue in a more uniform manner.

Too heavy I'd rather take a regular combine through wet ground and risk it having to unload at the cart than try to figure out how to dig that sucker out of the mud without 2 D10 CATs and a excavator.

soil compaction....
@wildturkey5838
@wildturkey5838 7 лет назад
With tires that size the soil compaction should be low. Consider also the fact that only one machine will go across the field instead of combine and two or three tractors and carts making multiple passes.
@smeigol424
@smeigol424 7 лет назад
Bring that piece of shit to the Arkansas delta and see what the tires do for soil compaction. They will never get a chance to compact soil when you get that oversized dilapidated foreign piece of crap stuck. Then you pull it out in two pieces.......then you can load them up and carry that sumbitch to the local scrap yard.
