Honestly that's a fair price for a lab scale.. I have placed many orders with creedmoor sports never had any issues. Think we could get your shirts with the UR logo on the front right chest and the big " I reload" on the back ? I'm not a fan of the big writing on the front.

Couple of thoughts and comments to share. I have the A&D FX120i setup with v3 Autotrickler, that gives me 0.02grain accuracy with the speed of an auto powder thrower, I use this for high volume loading, due to the speed advantage it gives me. If I am doing small batches I use my Redding No2 beam scale, I have measured the accuracy of this against my FX120i and it is spot on to within the 0.02grn tolerance of that scale. My process is much the same as you have shown in this video, dump main charge and trickle up to required weight. Why would you want an expensive electronic scale to do a slow process that a good quality beam scale does just as well, for a lot less money ? On another note, I shoot Benchrest, 6mm PPC 100 yard. Most of the guys I shoot with use a high quality powder thrower, Harrel for example and do not bother to weigh each charge to the exact 0.001 of a grain. This tells you something, if that amount of accuracy really made a difference then these guys would be all over these high accuracy scales, they are not ! There are other more important thing to go after, such as batching your cases by H2O volume for example. Don’t get fooled into thinking some electronic has got to be better than what went before, it ain’t always so !
@PatriotPaulUSA
@PatriotPaulUSA 2 года назад
I wonder if their Harrel's powder throwers are that good, or, are they not worried about being a grain or 2 off on every other round they are loading? Hmmm I think you should take your beam scale over and check their loads off the Harrell and let us know. (just joking) Who knows, they may be spot on perfect, and those guys know it.
@FClass
@FClass 2 года назад
Hi, thanks for the comment, I do have a Harrell and can confirm they are not perfect, measuring on the FX120i I found they were +- 0.01grain, so a range on 0.02grains, very good and it seems good enough for benchrest !

I like the new scale, especially the RS-232 output, lots of things I could do with that. For the past 8 years or so, I have been using a GePro-250 with a resolution of 0.02 gn. It holds zero for months without recalibrating and isn't too sensitive to air movement. But, I'm always looking to increase precision!
@blacksand9805
@blacksand9805 Год назад
I'm using the Gempro too. The reason why it keeps the zero easily is because it ignores tiny weight variations. If you add few granules one by one it just ignores it. The solution to correct the load is to remove the cup from the scale before adding powder granules and weight it again. It adds a lot of time when reloading many cartridges.
@boydallen8059
@boydallen8059 3 месяца назад
The scale looks good. Thanks for your review. I will mention one thing that I have seen on lesser scales. They return to zero, but if you look at the negative reading that you get when you remove the pan, it can be significantly different. This is one area where scales' programming can produce inaccurate readings. The zeros look like nothing has changed, when in fact it has, in a way that will affect the weight displayed.
@MoxeeReloadingInstructor
@MoxeeReloadingInstructor 2 года назад
The important question is: Will this scale tighten your groups? Please do a side by side test using this scale, a high quality beam scale and a similar quality E scale. Load some rounds of your favorite precision ammunition and rifle, then measure the group size. If there is a reduction in group size this new supper scale would be worth the $350 price. If there is no improvement, it's just an expensive toy.
@taylorbokshowan5713
@taylorbokshowan5713 2 года назад
Consistency is key. It may not shrink your groups consistently but it will minimize errors in charge weight which should give you more consistent group size and at the very least it should give you confidence that everything is as precise as you can be which confidence can be a huge factor for shooters
@spapi3880
@spapi3880 2 года назад
I agree with you. I’d like to see if all the time, money, and effort is worth the improvement.
@PatriotPaulUSA
@PatriotPaulUSA 2 года назад
Too many open variables there to answer that. If you have everything else sorted out but your ES is high on your loads then your bullets will be at different elevations on a long range target. This would tighten your ES numbers up if your scale is mediocre. Your impacts would be much closer together in elevation. (If your FPS isn't consistent and all else was the same.) At 100 yds it may be small but at longer ranges it would be increased especially. This also shows the importance of checking your loads thru a chronograph!

If you use a powder measure instead of the scale you can get pressure& velocity variation when air humidity changes.

All about application. For 99% of reloaders, I agree with you. For precision shooting, a higher end scale removes one more variance. I personally bought a $300 laboratory balance because my cheap Hornady scale seemed to wander, and you can’t have that when you are reloading 25 acp and 32 acp where your grain variance in powder could be 0.2 grains minimum to maximum. I tested out some other mid grade scales (either friends or bought and returned), and the $300 balance was so much nicer, I couldn’t justify spending $50-$150 on something barely better than what I started out with. I’ve used the laboratory balance for two years and l wouldn’t go back. Being a bachelor that makes decent money has its perks, and one of them means $300 on a somewhat “luxury” reloading isn’t a big deal financially, others mileage would vary. I also have a beam scale for back up, it’s just a lot slower.

Food for thought. If your not ( and you never should ) touch your calibration weights with your bare fingers then why, why would you continue to handle the powder pan? Your oils and salts start building up and adding to it's actual weight. The same as the platten. What's deposited on it stays and builds. Next good clean nitrile gloves are fine. White cotton or nylon gloves pickup and soak up oils and salts too and then eventually deposit materials. Nitrile gloves can be wiped with an alcohol wipe to clean. Wearing glove may not always be practical but I try always wearing them when reloading so if the ammunition is set back for a couple months or longer it doesn't get tarnished areas or green spots from salty sweat or oils. And when it's precision scales I use a set of spring loaded to close long set of tweezers (wide jaw) to pick up my powder pan. Yes I know this is Anil but when it's hot or warmer and your cutting down air currents for long precision loadings sessions these little do's pay off.

So I dove in. ;-)) Thank so much for your great videos that have helped me along the way. I have three Hornady scales: a balance scale and two digital scales. I use the Autocharge to meter the powder loads and the other digital to check the first. I bought precision weights for calibration. As you noted, never touch the calibration weights with your bare hands. Thanks again and Merry Christmas. Shalom/gw

Start building my own scale 0.01 grain accuracy based on arduino and load cell, works great ...for a bit then starts loosing calibration and need to recalibrate again, that's the problem with all load cell scales. It holds 0.1grain accuracy with no problem. Then I bought fx-120i and build combo powder measure and stepper motor trickler, similar to autotrickler. These new one is promising because it has serial port and can be used with other processor to control a trickler. I hope this is not load cell based scale.

Well, rather than cutting a hole in the shield I was just going to leave that side open, as well as the top off, shielding it on 3 sides. You need to be able to access the pan and the trickler on the scale anyway, and I’m not going to take off the shield each time. I have a Redding trickler and you should be able to have it sit directly on the scale, at least according to the product Q&A at Creedmoor. We’ll see!

While I still use digital scales (Frankford Arsenal and the other popular one) due to speed and ease of use, I recently bought a vintage Lyman/Ohaus D5 beam scale and an Ohaus calibration weight set that includes grain weights.I dont trust digital scales on their own anymore unless I have a known to be good calibration weight which is why I also went with Ohaus as the pretty much made all the beam scales and invented the agate bearing which is why they are so accurate. My issue with digital scales is they act up from time to time whether its the battery or who knows, so I keep the 5 grain check weight and am constantly testing the scale every so often to adjust charges accordingly. Both of my digital scales will either read 5 grains as 5.05 gr or will read as 4.96gr....and maybe half the time actually read it as 5 grains. My take is digital anything is basically a computer. Computers fail. If a digital scale takes a spill that could do it, or they just start acting off for whatever reason. Now will the $350 digital scale do that after a year of use? Maybe.... or maybe not, but I'll wait and see how the reviews are in a couple years. One thing for sure, while its alot slower, the Ohaus D5 is dead on accurate every time and doesnt need batteries or any power source.....so its a 'just in case':)

100 grams equals 1543.23 grains. Every digital I have used calibrates with 50 or 100 grams. Usually because that is the upper end the strain gauge is built for, and once calibrated, should be accurate anywhere in the middle. Internal calc does the rest. No need to build a special load cell for hundreds of units of measure, when they are all shelf standard. Hope this answers.

So I just received mine last night . Let it warm up for an hour , calibrated and played for a while . She is pretty precise and consistent . Repeatability was great . She reacts a bit slower than I am use to with the cheaper scales but thats to be expected with a precision scale . Definitely must be aware of air movement and or breathing lol . I moved her around on the bench and even bumped her a few times and returned to zero pretty much every time . I weighed a primer , wrote it down , left her on overnight , weighed it this morning and got the exact same number . All in all pretty good scale for the price . Definitely fits what I have been needing . Only negatives are the buttons seem a little cheep and does not have leveling legs/posts , but other than that Im good with it .

Most commercial and high volume reloads use volumetric power measures but almost all hand loaded rifle match ammo uses weighed powder charges and occasionally weight sorted cases, primers and bullets so the uses of a highly precise scale for accurate reloading are many. A lot of hand loaded pistol match ammo uses weighed powder charges too but it's less critical and I'm sure many competitors use pistol ammo loaded with a volumetric powder measure but ultimately weighing can produce a more consistent charge than volumetric powder measures and when automated it is almost as fast and won't slow down the process unless you are churning out ammo on a progressive reloading press.
