British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Saturday that he is scrapping a controversial Conservative policy to deport asylum-seekers to Rwanda as he vowed to deliver on voters' mandate for change, though he warned it will not happen quickly. “The Rwanda scheme was dead and buried before it started,” Starmer said in his first news conference. “It’s never acted as a deterrent. Almost the opposite.” FRANCE 24's Bénédicte Paviot said, reporting from London.

@@zebadicaagain9735 Are you really that uneducated? It is costing the UK over £8 million a day to house these migrants plus the bill of getting the rwanda deal through parliament. Yes it would have cost to deport them but less and less would have come. It would have took years to make a dent but slowly the numbers would half coming here each day. We are currently at 1000 illegals entering the UK daily. £100 on each migrant aday entering is £100k on average. Do planes cost that much? Even £50k a day is better. But obviously you labour supporters want more migrants. And what happens with more migrants? Higher taxes, a bigger strain on the NHS and schools but it's ok they are all good people aren't they?
