It's based on the musical that was based on the perverted book by Gregory Maguire. See the Musical as this has R&B Elphaba and from this clip alone ot sounds shite. Ariana Grande, though a talented singer, hasn't the presence or the likability to be Glinda.

It happens more and more nowadays...... Annie..... Little Mermaid...... Back in the day they made the Wiz..... They are getting ready to do another Wizard of Oz. Can't wait to see what they do to that one! But as far as Wicked goes technically she is Green like she is supposed to be so I don't know if that counts as "race swapping" But it does happen alot and I mostly don't like it when they mess with a classic movie that has stood the test of time. And I'm not even talking about race. I'm talking about reboots in general. Some things just shouldn't be messed with. An example would be they talked about making Batman black. Now I absolutely do not have a problem with Batman being black BUT he can't be Bruce Wayne. Because for more the 50 years Bruce Wayne is white. That's just how it is and it's not racist and it should not be changed for any reason at all. But someone else can pick up the mantle as Batman. And he can be any race at all. He just can't be Bruce Wayne!!!!!

Well when white authors write they tend to only include white characters. The majority of the world population is melanated, so it’s more believable that these worlds would have someone of color.

Here, we have a movie where what is traditionally viewed as the villain is being shown instead as hero and main lead for the movie. We see an iconic character from the original franchise a representation of the patriarchy of modern society and therefore the force which requires the heroes to overcome in some way. I'm saying that the movie seems to be cancelling the wizard Oz, similar to how the actor who once played him had done to himself in real life.

Umm ... actually, that line from Cyclops was a call back to the time Professor X used to say "my X-Men" so it's supposed to hint that now that the Professor is gone Scott Summer has fully taken up the role of full leader as well as mentor to the rest of the team.
