Personally, I don't struggle with getting out of an unupgraded Spopovich, long as I find a single survivor to hit twice. Spopovich lives and dies by his abilities that steal energy, if you don't make use of all of them it can get ugly real soon.

Mainly ki sense as that’s one thing Frieza lacks that makes finding survivors infinitely easier. This isn’t saying that Frieza is bad though.

Basically because Frieza doesn’t have ki sense and he is nowhere near as broken as he was pre-balance update he is the worst raider. Ki sense has always been good but nobody really needed it because Frieza’s early stages were just brainless, and the balance update hit him the hardest so yeah…
