Thanks, Kathy! Sorry I wasn't able to put something clearer in the rules, or an example; I couldn't figure out a good way. As Fraπ said, BremSter to the rescue! Greek carpets are such a fun variant that I couldn't pass up making one for you.

I did understood how it was supposed to work from the rules, just wasn’t confident because I was in disbelief it was possible! BremSter’s video just confirmed it for me :) Thanks so much for making this!

I think what might have really helped here is an example image showing off the kinds of unrolling that appear in the puzzle.

Digits on carpets can repeat in theory, but almost all of the time, they see each other by sudoku in some carpet position or other.

9:22 Wow, I completely overlooked that the top carpet could unroll to the right too. Got stuck with a 16 deadly pattern (r1/3c4/6) and had no idea how to resolve it

6:06 I enjoyed this variant. I realized early that the rolling and unrolling works both ways. Seems similar to roping.

Carpets are a bit of a challenge to wrap one's head around, but you did a fine job, Kathy! Tested this one a while back, got it in 6:03 (conflict checker off), many thanks to EPH for a great intro to the constraint!

9:57 if you don't count several false starts , just not used to greek carpets , didn't realize they would unroll in both directions. You did way better than me , I'm happy you're getting better at these puzzles. 😊

@chattykathy After coloring box 1 I assigned letters in box 4 with center marks. I really felt like it helped me to make inferences more easily. Nice solve

solved in 5:26. that was interesting, I wasn't quite sure how the rules would work with the top left carpet but the one on the right at least confirmed my thinking process.

I got it in 6:36, then watched the video. You had me screaming at the screen: KATHY DO SUDOKU! NOT ONLY CARPET SUDOKU, BUT REGULAR ONE TOO!!!! Lmao, great solve, you eventually got there with a different approach, it was a fun watch

Same. I get frustrated at Kathy, Simon, etc. who play non-standard sudoku primarily and frequently fail at scanning for standard Sudoku

Tried to solve before watching the video and oh boy these rules were confusing. When i got the rules it was very fun tho, did it in 11:38

Solved. I think this puzzle has more than 1 solution. R1 C4+6 and R3 C4+6 form an X wing... And the puzzle works either way. I had only these 4 boxes left, i guessed and got it right. Out of curiosity i went back and thied the other combination and it refused to accept the solution.

Doesn’t that break the top left carpet though? Since it unrolls across row 1 as well

... It does. I was only unrolling it on the LHS. That would have made solving this much easier too!
