Just read through about 100 comments. I didn't actually count the replies, but my quick estimate is that 25% of them are complaints that there is no audio. The video interface into Zoom works fine, but a lot of people can't get the audio to work. There is a referral to the full blog tutorial for more information, so I will go there. Like many, if not most of the commentators, I can't get audio to work working just from this video. I appreciate and like the video. Just wish it had a bit of overview explanation, and of course, actually explained how the audio interface works. Have to look elsewhere for that.

I loved your video, but you know, it was not very clear how to capture the audio from zoom in OBS and monitor it.

Obs is a great broadcasting software we've been using in our church for bible study and Sunday service with zoom it work great we also stream live on youtube with obs.

Having gone through this for something else not zoom a few months back I want to tell past self that all of those selections are inputs not outputs and the only outputs are the monitor output and the streamed output. Another it really would've been helpful if they added the ability to add a second output that wasn't a monitor.

This is the most complicated setup for a simple setup !!! I think I will need to do a video

Took me hours to figure out how to actually "hear" my Zoom sound coming back to OBS (CABLE-B). To anyone else on Win10 struggling with this, here's what worked for me: 1) Right-Click on the Speaker icon in the bottom right corner of windows 2) Click "Sounds" 3) Click on the "Recording" tab 4) Find "CABLE-B Output" and right-click then go to "Properties" 5) Go to the "Listen" tab and check the box for "Listen to this device" 6) If you're not getting sound, check what is selected under "Playback through this device" but for me leaving it as "Default Playback Device" worked. Video doesn't address this at all, neither does their write up...many hours of frustration for me, hopefully this saves someone else the trouble I went through!

Once i have gone thru all of your steps, i don't have any movement in the mic when i talk and i hear nothing in my headset. what am i doing wrong ?

If OBS is capturing the display where zoom is, and zoom is capturing the OBS window, then where is the webcam that's actually capturing you? I have this set up with webcam as the source in OBS, can't understand the cyclical process explained here.

Your configuration didn't work for some reason. I'm unable to get the Zoom's mic test to work to see if the audio is passing to Zoom. It's audio level meter also indicated audio isn't passing through. I'll debug it myself though. Also, when I went to "donate" to get the audio drivers, the minimum donation was $5. I don't mind that but your video is incorrect about it being as low as $1.

I found this helpful, but wanted to let you know a couple of points that I found confusing, in case you plan to make another video on this topic. It wasn't clear from the video or article that this does not cover how to be able to hear other participants in the Zoom call. Also as others have mentioned, the level of zoom-in, particularly around 5:41 - my audio inputs are in a different order than yours so it wasn't clear what you were doing here. Thank you though, it was still very helpful.

WOW! This is complicated!! Why can't stuff just work, like double click a patch and it's fine!! haha Thanks, have tried to follow it. Sound on the video stopped as soon as I installed the virtual cables as it changed default speaker so had to go into control panel and change speakers. Worth a call out or people will simply lose sound and not know why.

This video is a great concept, I watched it through 3 times because I was sure it would work. However, I'm sad to say this did not work for me. I've followed your steps exactly and have two big issues. 1. My mic doesn't seem to pick up at all through the virtual cables. (I'm able to directly access the microphone, but not by selecting the cables.) 2. And this wasn't addressed at all in this video. I cannot hear other person I'm zooming with. That seems like a pretty important detail.

Looks sophisticated, but how is this different than combination of - window capture (zoom) - desktop audio (record everything plays from computer?)

I tried this tutorial At the end of the day, I got video, which geeks out when I talk on my iphone, which is my input device for my OBS Virtual Camera, no sound at all coming through. I triple checked the settings of the Virtual Cables B and A in Zoom and OBS. Please help me understand what went wrong?

I am still not getting how the Zoom is embed into OBS

How do I hear the audio using this setup? I've been doing essentially this setup, except sending Zoom sound to speakers or headphones and using desktop audio to pull the Zoom sound into OBS. This allows me to hear what's happening in Zoom. Unfortunately, because Zoom doesn't send my (virtual) microphone audio back to me, I can't hear the audio OBS sends into Zoom. Any solutions out there which allow me to hear Zoom output and the audio OBS sends into Zoom?

I hope to set this up in the coming weeks.

You have some critical info missing, as I have followed what I could of your steps, and cannot get the audio setup right. (Webcam works fine). If I have my mic going into OBS and working in the mixer, yet the input to zoom mic setup the way you show produces NOTHING. Also, when you zoom in to the advanced audio screen to show the "monitor and output" selections, you can't see which sources you are setting because it is cut off on the left side. This is one of the most frustrating videos I have ever watched, as it clearly should work, but with what you have given it does not. A much better step by step is needed. I have a yeti-x mic, and want to have the yeti x mic sound, other OBS audio moxer sounds, etc from obs, as well as the video from virtual cam go out to zoom. Can't do that. The only thing that works is to forget all the VB audio stuff TOTALLY , and just use the OBS Virtual Cam as the webcam source in Zoom, and set everything else in zoom directly, from the actual devices and sources. Wasted a lot of time. You need to learn how to teach better.

Its really hard to understand, at the point where you get into advanced audio settings and the issue of monitor setup in audio. It juts blew up my system.

Hi, I think there is a problem with this tutorial... How can I hear the others participants from zoom ? The speaker from zoom goes to OBS through Cable B, and the microphone goes to zoom through cable A, BUT HOW CAN I HEAR IN MY HEADPHONES the sound of cable B (zoom output) ? Thank you very much

Thank you for the vid. I watched this a couple of times and can get the audio patched to where I can hear the person on the zoom call. However, we need to know how you have your mic setup to get it into the zoom stream.

I get why we want to connect either OBS --> Zoom or Zoom --> OBS, but I don't understand, what do you accomplish by going both ways at the same time? What would the use case for that be?

Excellent instructions. Just confirming... does this allow you to bring a guest into OBS using Zoom, and then stream that out to RU-vid the way you normally would with OBS? I wanted to bring someone in on Zoom, allow them to share their screen so we can see that, and that all be broadcast on RU-vid.

This works like a dream! A good way to test this on your own (if no one else is available) is to record the meeting, say some things, then end the meeting. Zoom will create an MP4 recording that you can watch/hear.

Hi there. Are the steps the same if OBS is already setup to stream to RU-vid? If I add this, will it mess up the previous configuration?

Why send the audio from zoom to obs? I dont get it, i send the audio (videos and Mic) with obs to zoom and the zoom people with the normal output, i cant hear what i am sending but is not a big deal

Followed every step (apart from later version of OSB has built in Virtual Camera. Everything selected and checked the same - does not work - at all!

Awesome tutorial! I'm a little confused though. B is the speaker output of Zoom thus giving the ability to connect it to OBS. In OBS A is an input to receive sound from B. Then A is used as the virtual audio cable that connects back to Zoom. My question is: "Wouldn't there be a feedback loop or echo sent to the people in the conference?" Your pumping Zoom's audio out of OBS. Then Zoom's audio out of OBS and back into Zoom. Is my understanding incorrect? I understand with the Advanced Audio Settings you can select different audio input and output capture sources you may monitor and output. I would assume I'd disable any devices that I don't want streamed or outputted back to Zoom. Did I miss something in the video tutorial? If I did understand the connection scheme correctly, is there a technical reason that the Zoom users won't hear an echo of me or themselves? I'd really like to avoid capturing Desktop Audio and wearing headphones to prevent feedback. I really like the approach you are explaining. I have a final follow up question. What do you mean by: NOTE: An audio loop can happen if you monitor the return audio from Zoom with this setup. Therefore, you should use a 2nd device for monitoring incoming audio from zoom. You spoke more on audio than the actual video output which was why I clicked on your video. Now I still have to find a simple way to do video through zoom.

Got it set up but still couldn't hear any audio from Zoom at all. I could see all the levels and microphones but monitoring Cable A input didn't help out since it wasn't routed any where to hear anything

why not just connect your camera directly to zoom via elgato cam link? that's much simpler solution

mic is not capturing in zoom. followed instructions but this dude has no idea how to screen cap. so first of all idk what my sound control panel settings need to be. then which sources to capture in obs. any help i can do a video chat through discord or something because these instructions are so bad.

While verbally this is a great tutorial, visually its a bit iffy, especially because one can't see whether the checked boxes are checked or unchecked and the examples are very lacking seeing as we would have wanted to hear the audio between you and your guests. And what worsens things is you didn't use the zoom monitor on OBS (the one with the others) to show us you are getting a zoom feed.

Your 'helpful' text box is a pain in the rear end. It obscures too much screen. When I installed the virtual cables I lost sound and couldn't see what you were doing.

thanks for this dude, I have one problem though. I've installed the A and B cables, but Cables A & B are only showing in the Speakers input. On the Microphone input, I can only see the Cable B option, but Cable A is not showing at all. (zoom)

Muzychenko’s Virtual Audio Cable is far easier to use and supports more cables than VB-Audio.

If you happen to have an audio interface (sound card) with internal routing capabilities (many of them include routing software) you don't need the virtual cable software. The inputs and outputs of your sound card should appear in both Zoom and OBS Studio.

May I ask a question: if we use cable A to output audio from OBS to Zoom, why do we add it to the OBS audio Mixer? Isn't this a loop?

Hi everyone; I did install the A/B cable thing over Mac (followed as well as explained in here), but the Audio input (microphone) from OBS to Zoom is not working for me. So, I´m getting the people speaking in Zoom at OBS (cable B), but when trying to speak into Zoom (me) that is not working; neither able to monitor that at OBS. Any idea suggestion?. Thanks everyone.

I'm producing a weekly live stream that pulls 4 people together on Zoom. I capture audio and video from Zoom and produce and stream out via OBS. I am the only one that can see that graphics, sfx, music, etc. Would doing this allow me to still stream the show live and have my participants see the stream without latency?

I got it to work for what I need! I have NOT tested this with zoom participants to see if I can hear them or not. I will be using this for a webinar that i'll be hosting and i'll have people simply typing in the chat of zoom. So, here is what I have set up, note that I have my airpods connected to the laptop im using and i can hear my audio in obs and my sound. Watched the recording of the zoom and all works as should.
