The Scott Walker album The Drift is VERY out there. When I first played it, listening on my headphones, I thought it was actually a pretty scary listen, and that’s the first and only album I’ve described that way.
Hi mazzy I’ve streamed the who and I’ll stream it more before I maybe grab it . The album cover by peter Blake is very much like Stanley road like you said he was the guy who first used the airforce red white and blue motif ...I enjoyed seeing more of Seattle, you’ve done great record stores in your city . In the uk we don’t have stores that big . I sometimes post clips of stores on my Instagram.. thanks for sharing I need to watch more of your detailed videos as you do a great job on featured artist .. I’ve had people day I look like Pete Townsend too, especially at the my generation period ..
Hey Mazzy, great to give Capitol Hill a shout out as I lived there from late 2003 to summer 2016 when I moved out of the city all together for a small house I bought in Tacoma as that's what I could afford. Anyway, lived in an apartment at the base of Thomas and Melrose for 13 years and walked all over the place. I actually have shopped at Everyday Music and much of the Rascals I have on LP came from there, as was a fresh, clean copy (original pressing) of The Byrds Greatest Hits there as well from 1967. Sadly, I hear the city has gone down hill in a major way since 2016, with the city not doing much about crime and the homeless and has I guess become not as safe, or the perception it isn't anyway. Some interesting LP's found and I have that Messiah LP too, but not played it in years and was a purchase back in the early 2000's when I found a rash of great LP's at the Goodwill down on Dearborn when the pickings were so much better than you typically find at the GW now. Enjoyed your videos and finally got around to subscribing!
John h Palmer I’m still a city person. Seattle like Portland SF Austin and many more are going through growing pains and the national problem of substance abuse leading to some of the homelessness. I still love the energy of cities like this. I go to high voltage in Tacoma every other month or so. ✌🏻
@@mazzysmusic Yeah, I totally get it, I loved Seattle and live IN Tacoma now, in fact, I live about 11 blocks from High Voltage and close to a lot of ammenities, but the house itself is well within my meager income, plus, I grew up here. Technically speaking I'm a city person too, but Seattle is gotten to rich for me to live in though. The great thing here is, I now live AND work here, which is really nice. :-) BTW, Tacoma has similar homeless issues, but part of the reason for the issues is so many don't want help and the bleeding hearts and PC crowd don't want to force them into rehab for fear or "trampling" on their rights, when they impede ours for usurping our public parks and making the areas near us unsafe by their aggressiveness.
The last time I picked up a new album by The Who was " Face Dances " early 1981. Ironically , picked up " Sound Affects " by The Jam on the same day. Clearly , the torch had been passed ! 🇬🇧
That neighborhood is sooo hip, I've fallen and I can't get up. The Who album is on my list to get in the next day or two. I also thought the cover looked very Stanley Road-ish. Fun fact, I had a huge, unhealthy crush on Pete Townshend when I was 17.
I’ve been to Seattle a few times. Mostly around Pioneer Square and SODO. I’ve heard some good things about that who record. That it might be very similar to early who, maybe a quick one like?
I love Nilsson's music. I loved watching (3 times) the "Who is Harry Nilsson" documentary that was released in 2010. I first watched it at the Fest in Chicago and then purchased it. In the early 80's, I got a kiss from Nilsson (at the fest) for donating a dollar to the Coalition to stop gun violence that Nilsson was involved with. Wish I had a phone with a camera then so I could have gotten a picture of that! :-)
I ate breakfast at that diner while waiting to meet SPRINGSTEEN at his meet n’ greet book signing at Elliott Bay book store couple years back.Only cost was for the book.Went into that record store after,as well. Great times that quick trip.
The Comet Tavern looks like my kinda hang. I am looking for Midori Takada - Through the Looking Glass reissue on that We release whatever the fuck we want label. So cool they have a damn section for it.
The first store in the video was Zions Gate. They have a pretty big Discography store. They are big on metal, World, Punk and their rock is pretty good too but mostly new stuff. Some used but nit a lot. Everything is packed way too tight. The large store is Everyday Music. They have 4 or 5 stores ; Vancouver Bellingham WA, Seattle and Portland.
I agree about the album. I wish it was mixed and mastered better but most of the songs are great but I couldn't get into I'll Be Back. Pete sings a bonus track on the deluxe edition, This Gun Will Misfire that I would have preferred to be on the proper album instead of I'll Be Back. This Gun Will Misfire is an excellent song.
Hi Mazzy, i think that new WHO album is surprisingly good. After well over a decade its really refreshing to hear, those Voice's are so recognizable I'm totally digging this album!!
I dig seeing Seattle, thanks for sharing! Your record stores look pretty beefy too, albeit a little lacking of customers! I haven't seen that Dope Guns and Fucking in the streets comp in ages!
Hey Mazzy - thanks for the tour. That diner/bar does look pretty cool. You know, we have a grand ole opry here in Nashville, but no grand opera. But Van Morrison is still welcome to play here. I also just watched wack-a-mole #48 and will combine comments to say cool VCLT from Hanna and Bo and thanks for the mini-tour in that one too. New Who record looks interesting...I'll probably like that mid-70's sounding song (lol). see ya ~ Randy
Nothing is required in terms of LGBTQ crosswalks, but Capitol Hill, like San Francisco's Castro District, has Historically been a partially gay neighborhood for decades. Both hoods are now more mixed and gentrified. I guess since I grew up in San Francisco, I don't notice them much since they are a part of the culture of these two neighborhoods in both cities. It is really more of a celebration of sorts. Like when the river running through Chicago is dyed green around St Patriots Day..Not exactly the same but an acknowledgment.
Flabbergasted by 'Got Nothing To Prove' on the Who album - trying to sound like the High Numbers with orchestra. And I spy the Capitol Hill outpost of Realfine coffee!
