Absolutely word for word. I'd like to add, getting a shifter calibration done fixes notchiness, unplugging the sound-generator takes 10 minutes and lets the car sound it's best, going down to lightweight 18 inches improves the ride massively as well as adding a touch of thin butyl rubber for dampening the resonant areas in the boot and the doors, takes the car to a whole new level. Oh and this car hates allignment with a passion and I'd recommend to get a 3d allignment done once every 12 months to take that out of the ecuation. @Da bobstar The interior definitely is better than your average hatch, and definitely better than the i30 and the new golf. You got an amazing steering wheel, amazing recaro seats and a lot of leather (leatherette?) all the way from window to handrest on the doors and even on the transmission tunnel where your knees are gonna be. Got no clue why he pointed out the plastic on the focus in particular, everything plastic in the focus also is hard plastic in the i30 and golf. Makes no sense.

To be honest, i30 N is more fun. M140i is much faster and better built but not as fun. You'd need to drive it 8/10 everywhere while Hyundai is fun even when commuting. But then again, Bmw is much more relaxing most of the time

It's close ... Focus maybe better steering and low down grunt + the suspension can be set to soft while having everything else in race. Honda is ultimately quicker in the straight line and around the track. Honda's balance and stability is superior. The Ford is fun and flickable. That said, if you’re all about playfulness, have a drive of the manic Renault Megane RS. While the Focus ST will tighten its line nicely into hairpins when you lift off the accelerator, it won't swing its rear-end round like a shopping trolley as the Megane does. But softening the suspension also softens the engine response in the Honda. Focus' infotainment system has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity feature along with an 8.0-inch touch-screen with inbuilt sat-nav and voice activation. Boot space is class leading in the Honda. Honda's 7.0-inch infotainment system's screen is smaller and fiddly to use - no inbuilt sat-nav. The manual Focus has a better exhaust sound, while the auto ST is about the same as the Honda's. But no wrong choice here: win, win.

I would go for the Civic Type R or the GR Yaris.

In Australia we get the S4 tyres on the I30N. Makes a big difference in grip. I30N would be my pick.

@@Tsukuyomi8 Knock on wood, I've had no issues with the car so far. Bought it September 2019. And I've been doing track days 7-8 times a year. Changed brake pads several times, and the disks this winter, but that's a given. One annoying thing I started noticing a year or so ago is some rattling noise from the dashboard and the doors. Plastics and screws rattling when driving on a crappy road. But I can't say if this would have happened if I wasn't going wild on the tracks.

The least value for money is Mercedes-Benz. It has such bad quality for a Mercedes.

@@dragospahontu Are you comparing to Mercedes of the 80s? Because every Mercedes since the mid 90s has had that problem. However, I have just moved on from my CLA which was 5 years ld from new. Been all over Europe and handled everything with aplomb including teh worst that Balkan roads could throw at it (and those roads are bad). The quality was high enough to make it feel premium, especially the MBtex sewn dashboard and door cards. It never put a fit wrong in over 170,000 miles.

AWD cars got higher drivetrain losses. If you expect 10-15% drivetrain loss from a FWD setup, an AWD setup can cost you up to 25%. Pretty big difference, and that's one of the reasons they're not putting AWD in these cars so gladly. It can really hamper performance.

@@xIcarus227 Yeah, the A35 is still pretty rapid, but on a roll, not as much as people would think in comparison to the others. Imo fwd hot hatches work best with a manual, and the AWD cars work best with an auto. I miss my old GTI as the driving experience is much more involving..with the S3 it’s just foot to the floor and steer.

A new I30N is due soon, yes. But it’s not out been released and it not available for testing yet.

Because of the brand history of Ford in this country and a long period of poor customer service. The latter has been hugely improved now, but the former takes a lot of time to reverse. Ford have huge success with Mustang and Ranger here, but generally Australians aren’t buying small hatches (or “cars”, only SUVs) anymore and when they do, they want “German” (and have no idea the Focus was designed, engineered and built in Germany 😂)

Guessing it doesn't rain much there :) I30N is great though.

Right? What's that price bracket? Anything under $70k? The A35 is nearly double the GTI. Hell, it's even more than the R by a large margin (I priced one out because they're sexy af, but not $12k more than the R sexy).

If we’re looking at “On The Road” prices, the GTI is £33,510. The A35 is £37,160 on the road. But the to be fair, you should add DSG gearbox to the GTI, in which case the price is £35,010. So the entry level OTR price difference between the cars (with or without a similar gearbox) isn’t that big.

@SDA Dan Cars for daily car and for long travels will be better I30N or A35? which one is louder in Normal mode and I30N has a warriancy for a truck? I consider A35 AMG in sedan with aerodynamic package or I30N performance Fastback 2021. I count on your advice.
