PDubs, Actually, the trackball is cooler than you think. It's actually not a glow in the dark trackball, but an actual light up trackball with it's own light source. Glen said he's working with New Wave Toys and Atari to see if he can make his control panel for it have the ability to change colors as well. I'm fine with the red, but choices are good. The Replicade will also have an actual light up trackball, not glow in the dark :) I hope this helps :) vgv

A lot of people are NOT big fans of this particular game, but I enjoy it, and when I saw it with this tremendous artwork, it was a no-brainer I pre-ordered straight away.

I'll be ordering the original cabinet, it looks really good! Also want to put out there to everyone wanting NWT to sell full-sized cabinets.... yall better be buying all of these full-sized control panels or phase 2 will never happen. These extra control panels are a test market for NWT on whether they should keep moving forward to the full cabinet.

@@PDubsArcadeLoft Maybe... but that was the stipulation made by Shilo a while back when he said they eventually want to make full-sized cabinets. He said the first step to full sized cabinets will be these controllers, and to see how well they will sell. I think the bigger problem is that people aren't responding well to the costs of these controllers along with the shipping. That's a pretty big indicator on whether people will actually buy a full-sized cabinet + shipping.

It wasn't my bag as far as a game went, but it was definitely advanced and different for 1983 with the 3D look and warp zones for experienced players to jump further ahead. The cabinet was beautiful and the music was great! Every now and then I catch myself humming the high score music and can't remember what it's from. Very catchy. So yeah, I ordered the original/prototype bundle 😄

I will get the arcade machine without the extra control panel. It's cool but I don't see the need for it unless you are really trying to play the gane seriously. In my opinion a universal track ball and controller kit that you could use on all NWT machines would be a better option. Soace is hard to find and having separate controls for each one just takes up too much space but. Single control panel to use with all the machines I would be in on EDIT; Great news they are cross compatible

Much prefer quarter arcades, they a little bit more expensive but they are larger at 1/4 size and they are made from the exact same materials the 80s arcade had including the original arcade roms! Just picked up 2 tmnt arcade machines from them ! Bloody beautiful!

I'm tempted to buy the control panel bundle in part to use it with the Golden Tee since I'm just getting the basic Replicade. However, Crystal Castle doesn't hold much nostalgia for me so I'll probably just hold off for a more interesting game.

Hi guys. I've recently seen these Arcade1's. Started RU-vid-ing around, found this channel. I plan on looking at many videos here, however, in the meantime, I'm wanting to find something as close as I can, but new, to the original arcade games. Was wondering what the top of the list should be as far as these manufacturers. I'm 61, and when I was in my twenties, I went to a couple arcades and bought some of the games that I played on as a child. I still have them... Atari's Gravitar, Lunar Lander (black and white monitor) and Sega's Jet Rocket, electro mechanical. Anyhow, thanks for anyone who made it this far down in my comment and for any help!

I only ever saw a Crystal Castles machine in real life once. It was in a small arcade at the mall. I'd played the game on my C64, so I figured I knew what to do. I started the game, gently rolled the trackball, and... Nothing happened. So I rolled the ball a little faster and Bentley Bear wiggled a little bit. I gave the ball a good spin and he took a couple steps. To get him to actually keep moving, I had to spin the ball like I was trying to rev up an engine. Needless to say I didn't even get past the first screen. That was the only time I ever tried playing a real arcade game with a trackball. My local Walmart had a half-size arcade machine with Centipede and a bunch of other games on it, a couple years ago. I only tried Centipede and it felt really sluggish. I couldn't just roll my hand back and forth, I had to reposition my hand 2-3 times just to move from one side of the screen to the other. It was like when you have the mouse speed set too low, and you reach the edge of the mouse pad, while the pointer is only half-way across the screen. I don't know if it was supposed to be that sluggish, but it felt frustrating to play.

Glad that this control panel will be compatible with golden tee as well. Having all these controllers and decks for every type of product is getting ridiculous. It is nice for those that want a game specific deck though depending on the arcade unit they get.

It's all about the license, finding original cabinets, and original people who created the game. It's not easy as it sounds.

I like this for what it is, but it's just too damn small. Having to buy an accessory to play it makes me also feel like Numskull has a much better chance at success with it. Credit to the designers, but it's just not for me.

Not sure whether any are worth it at this point. I also feel like my Centipede from Kickstarter was half of the current price. With that said, I did place an order because I have all the other games released to date. Fortunately, the trackball I ordered for Golden Tee will be compatible with this unit. This makes three units for me on pre-order with NWT and I wonder where the pre-order thing is no longer reasonable. When will Black Hole and Golden Tee arrive? Not to mention, I'm in if Skeeball happens.

Come on Scotty they're all worth it! They're little pieces of arcade art treasure. Sure Centipede was half the price, but the battery only lasted 2.5 hours and new ones last 6-8 hours. Also think of all the little features that have been added to the machines since Centipede. It's not like the cabinets stayed exactly the same and the price went up. They have kept on innovating on the cabinets at every step which if the price is gonna go up, that's what I wanna see. COME ON, SCOTTY! 😂

If the NWT team are watching, please innovate and add a battery hatch at the bottom of your future machines to make the replacement process a little easier. Also,!credit me for the fantastic idea once it's in production. Scott's Shelf, Scott's Slot, Parisi's Power Hatch, etc..... I'll stop complaining now. 🤐

@@ScottParisi All good, man! You're free to speak your mind, that's what's great about the world. Then I can agree or try and drag ya back off the ledge 😁 Did you get your Centipede at launch? If so, did you order the firmware update kit? The original Centipede cabs when the cabinet power was turned off, they forgot to shut down the power to the trackball so while sitting off, it would still drain the battery. Let me know if you need the link on how to order it. You have order this one because since it's the original cabinet, you actually have to open this cabinet up to do what is needed.

This never was an arcade I cared to play. It’s a hard pass for me. This whole separate control panel bundle thing is too cumbersome to mess with. I’ll never buy a bundle from New Wave toys. Let’s release something more interesting next time. Zaxxon, Mad Planets, Moon Patrol, Tron, Pole Position, etc.

I agree. I paid $349 for my ALU that has Crystal Castles, and added the marquee monitor for a couple hundred extra, so I can simulate the gameplay of virtually every arcade game from my childhood for less than $600. I also have a dozen 1ups that cost $200-$300 each. I paid $25 for my 4 player NBA Jam in perfect condition already put together at a yard sale. I actually got it to fit in the back seat of my Dodge Charger. I think it's insane to pay $200-$300 for a mini toy machine, but I guess some people like them.

Seriously Glenn goes on Arcade chat groups talk crap and then doesn’t back it up! Then he puts out his own cheap part $50 mini replicade clones! Speak the truth guys! Otherwise how on earth is he selling them for $50. Think about it! Truth hurts

Yes we all want them to do larger things. I do not talk about the Build-A-Cade thing because I'm just not interested in it. It's more so that I am so "over" messing around with Raspberry Pi and Pi mods etc.
