New Way to Use IBC Totes, Never Seen This Done Before  

I use a double layer of pallets on the bottom to get air under the pile. Plus it forgives for the bark and debris that falls into the pallets after a couple cycles.

That will work great as long as the sides hold up. By the time you start taking wood off the top you will be good

Like some other commenters said, you might drill some vent holes in the tote bases. Looks like a cool plan. Keep healing up!! 💪😊👍

Just make a corral out of IBC's. and a floor of pallets. You can fill the IBC's with out even cutting them, then fill in the corral you build.

Hey Mike , great idea . That wooden pallet in the middle . Use one of the metal sides off of a tote you cut for the back I believe you will plenty of air on the wood .👍🏻🇺🇸

Great idea! You could take a hole saw and make a bunch of holes in the floor of the IBCs for added ventilation. I look forward to seeing it filled up.

I think the totes will work great. You might make some folks who have a hard time getting them cry watching you cut them up😂 You could also use the rest of the tote you cut out and push them into the ground with your tractor bucket to create walls for a shorter bin and just use pallets for the floor🤷‍♂️ Great idea Mike👍🏻👍🏻

I think it will work. Should be able to test this with some Mount Woodmore wood in the loader bucket in the boiler corral. Keep the cocktails under ten pounds.

Outdoors with the Morgans has been doing this for 4 years. It works well if you have a way to move them. you can leave the sides on.

I think the totes will hold up just fine, I might have left closer to 3 sides on the side (not corner) totes. Then you would have more stability and the option of using them to dump the firewood into a trailer or something down the road. Obviously some of the wood would fall off but I think a lot of it might stay on there. I actually thought about using whole totes along the outside with skids in the middle. Just a thought, hope it works out for you Mike! Best wishes on a quick recovery! 😁

Just wondering about using the cast off cage sides for ends of the middle pallet runs.

One thing I've noticed about IBC totes that you may want to take into consideration, is the lack of airflow underneath them. The bottom rows of wood never dry properly because the bottoms of the totes are mostly solid unlike wooden pallets. Just throwing that out there! Edit: looks like you addressed that at the end, I commented too soon 😂

Like your plan why not slide the side pallets in and lay the wood pallets up on the metal bottoms.
