Beautiful watch, I have the white 300m Seamaster and was going to pull the trigger on the black Speedy, but now there's the white Speedy it has to get added to my collection. Bravo Omega
I def agree that ceramic would have been great. I also think it’s time for Omega to upgrade the black dial with applied markers like the white dial on the sapphire sandwich model.
You are saying you would wait for the aftermarket price to fall below retail before you purchase one? Does this mean you won't be purchasing from your friend at the AD?
I have no issues buying used when the price is right. But I buy most of my watches from ADs and I plan on that here. But I am waiting for availability to be good.
I’ve recently realized I’ve moved past Omega as a collector. Once a HUGE Omega fan I’ve not been excited about any of their offerings for a while now. That said I still own a few and have no plans to replace them.
No!---The bracelet ruins it! If you see this beautiful watch on the Omega black leather strap with their beautiful deployment buckle it's much richer looking! Bracelets are for Rolex posers and women. Also, white dial watches always have the" jewelry" look on bracelets. This is a beautiful piece of equipment!
Agree- leather strap is exclusive to this moonwatch model. Bracelet and rubber strap options can be had on all other moonwatches they told me at the Chicago boutique.
I 100% agree with you regarding the bezel. These sapphire sandwiches might as well have ceramic bezels because they're not true moonwatches. A ceramic bezel would've made this white dial Speedy as close to perfection as possible for me.
Don’t really like the classic black speedmaster it’s too toolish , this however gives that luxury feeling and looks stunning , debating between this and the nttd sea master in titanium
You obviously haven’t had the black version on wrist. And you’re considering the NTTD Seamaster? This after calling the black Speedy “non luxurious and too toolish?”. Make it make sense.
Yeah, even the nice folks at the Omega boutique I visit said it will be more available in the future and it's not limited production, so just stand by until the hype dies down. Who knows? Maybe this will be my first speedmaster, but I think I'll want to compare it to the black side by side and see what I like best. :)
Tried it on twice. The dial is a bit stark and washes out the indices down at my side. Readability was ok, and definately better than the brietlings I tried on. Didnt look special to me, and not at the price. I think i like the black one is better and I can get this at a realistic price.
Its very beautiful as a general watch but my taste is more the black dial. I had the 3861 black saphire for some years and I think it is a nicer watch overall, because its classy,
I own and have owned a few speedmasters in my time and this is a definite step up. Bracelet is quality and comfy. I’m fine with aluminum insert…keeps price down too. The dial is stunning in person…only looks cool online. I get what omega is doing here…it’s a slight difference to the original with homage to the Alaska model. Going up to ceramic and auto…well they already have those models. This is just a 2024 white dial model of the OG…and that’s sensible.
I got mine last Saturday as a walk in. I told the guy it was my wedding anniversary and he gladly offered it. I’m not in love with this watch but I do understand the attraction. It’s a beautiful watch in certain lighting condition.
The hand on the minute subdial is misaligned and doesn't point correctly on the markers. Had this issue on two Snoopy 50th anniversary. They couldn't fix it correctly so I asked for a refund. You pay 10k for a luxury item and they can't even align the hands properly
I have the black version movement 3861 which I love. I am on the waiting list for the white version. Saw the watch at the Omega Boutique - really nice but frankly on my 6.5 inch wrist I think this 42 mm is rather large. The black one does not look as big. Now, I am wondering if I should even add this white one to my collection.
I'm not a fan of chronographs; I really have zero need for the complication so it just makes the watch more expensive and the time less legible. And the lack of self-winding is a big turn off too. But this speedy's subdials don't get in the way that much. and I like the applied indices (I would never pay that much money for a watch with painted indices), and the fact that the dial isn't black really appeals to my taste. I would buy this one Speedmaster, but no other.
I really like this one. If I were younger, I would probably have to grab one of these. I am not sure that it is quite as legible as the black dialed model. I also would prefer the traditional embossed case back, I know you feel differently.
One way to make Omega beat Cartier is to put a ring on 3 smaller registers a la Rolex Daytona Panda! Omega would sell 100,000 more of that Omega per year!
I picked mine up Monday from the Omega Boutique in St. Louis. Bought it on the bracelet, but also bought a black leather strap with deployment clasp…stunning!
I have an older speedy with white dial and blueed markings and hands. I compared both but still like my old automatic speedy. This one the display back is gorgeous
Been waiting for you to review this one. Since I don't (yet) on a Speedy, I have had my heart set on a Speedy 57 for some time. Until this one came along. Now I just don't know!
You know me Scott, I think you should buy the one you think you would like the best. But speaking for myself. I like this a lot more than a 57. It doesn't wear large
@@kevco01010 in most cases I agree, but I own both the black and white speedy. The speedy already wears smaller than most 42 imo with a nice lug to lug dimension and case shape, comparing it to my exp ii or Seamaster it wears smaller than both. Also again compared to the polar explorer and even the black dial speedy the contrast with the bezel works well for the dimensions.
I’ve tried one on and it’s a good looker for sure, the bracelet is decent with the small adjustment mechanism. I somehow prefer the Racing model it just feels more masculine on the wrist with its chunkier bracelet. Plus daily winding of these watches will become a chore long after the novelty of the movement view subsides. The manufacturing flaws even at this price point are of concern however the thing should be perfect out the gate. Smacks of cost cutting as does the aluminium bezel. But nit picking aside it’s a cool looking watch I’d definitely do a double take spotting one in the wild.
I was offered this watch as walk in customer at Omega boutique in Salzburg Austria. Priced around 7350€ after tax rebate for tourist. But I decided not to buy it as it is too similar to the black Speedy and in fact I preferred the black dial version. But for someone without the black Speedy or preferred white dial, then this might be a good buy.
