Gratulerer med verdensrekorden Morten Blien. Her er en liten smakebit av det som er filmet på denne turen. Over 21 mil på scooteren, der er rått. Lykke til i kveld. Del gjerne filmen.
18.sep 2015, a Norwegian man named Morten Blien hopped on his Polaris RMK 800 and drove about 212km - down the Karasjok and Tana River in Finnmark, Norway. He was attempting to break the world record for distance driven on water with a snowmobile, previously set by European watercross champion Antti Holmberg 180 km
Blien did surpass the mark, but he fell short of his goal of 245 km when his sled inexplicably stopped in the middle of the river after 212 km.
Blien said he wasn’t sure what ultimately caused the snowmobile to quit. An additional throttle lever had been installed on the sled so that if one hand got tired, Blien could use the other to power the sled. It’s possible that a malfunction caused the gas to stop flowing adequately to the engine.
The world record attempt still needs to be submitted to Guinness for approval. There is some uncertainty about whether it will be approved since Blien did not drive the snowmobile ashore.
The entire trip lasted four hours. Blien was tired but satisfied after his run, saying that he considered everything after 180 km to be a bonus. He was also surprised at the number of local people who came out in the cold weather to support him.

far from it the one he's on is light weight and expensive at most snowmobiles owned by people other then pro sport riders weigh close to 500 pounds so good luck with that shit plus if you let off the throttle even a bit your ass is swimming and you just lost a good couple grand to a lake

Game Noobs I know, I have a Snowmobile myself (yamaha vmax 600 from 92 in red). And that one wouldn't float for shit. But if you have the right one, long and wide track and farely light weight, do you have a fast and pretty agile vehicle that goes on the water! =)

Thats awesome. I freaking love snowmobiling. Id love to try this. Ive never done more than maybe 200 yards straight. Really aslong as you keep your speed up and dont physically turn the handlebars or run out of gas, you are fine. You can lean, but if you actually turn the handlebars youll drop like a rock. My stepdad actually sunk one once doing that. Luckily the water was only like 3ft deep, but he didnt know that. He was frantically swimming away and one of his friends yells "stand up!". He stood up only to realize the water is so shallow his handlebars were still sticking out. All he had to do was kill the sled and walk out. Thats not to say there wasnt any damage though.. there was, but we fixed it prwtty easily.

If it was going to overheat I don’t think it would’ve done it 131 miles 212km into the drive. It would’ve done it much earlier on something else happened. In the description they assume the other throttle (he had two to switch off for tired hands) malfunctioned and gas didn’t get to the engine.

Triston Charge Joe F Thanks guys I was just making sure that it wasn't a typo. Thats nuts! I had to put the Km into Miles so I could wrap my head around the distance. Thats nuts! Here in Wisconsin, I don't think you could find a stretch of river that long without going over a dam.
@gyrotech777
@gyrotech777 8 лет назад
+Triston Charge kms is the standard world measurement. Miles, only antiques measure in miles.
@peterpunch1
@peterpunch1 8 лет назад
+gyrotech777 I say; "Drop those legacies USA! You are counting in 10, measure (all) things in 10 and make life easier!" :-D - This seems logical?: "parts of an inch" -> 1 (1 inch) -> 12 (1 foot) -> 660 (1 furlong) -> 8 (1 mile). - This is unlogical?: 1 (1mm) -> 10 (1cm) -> 10 (1dm) -> 10 (1m) -> 1000 (1km). Don't forget inches even gets it wrong in it's practice.. a "two by four/2x4" in carpentry is never 2x4 anywhere. Inches would never in practice be easily calculated from my understanding, just good estimates. With a complete chain of 10's you can drop that pen or computer and plan details in your head :-) This sentence says it all (no real offence ment); "The International System of Units has been adopted by most developed countries, however, the adoption has not been universal in all English-speaking countries. While metrication in the United States is consistent in science, medicine, government, and various fields of technology and engineering, common measurements are mostly performed in United States customary units, although these have officially been defined in terms of SI units."

All one needs is a dry belt and gasoline to keep on going, so really, it's just a matter of how far the gas tank will get you that determines the distance record.
