Was at times square in 1996, 1997, 1998, 2008...The memories and meeting new ppl from different countries/states. Good Times! Happy New Year everyone. I hope for peace in 2024. I lost my mom in March 2023...I miss you mom! 😔
round of applause for the camera and production crew who have to forego seeing their families and friends to help make this broadcast happen every year
My grandma who’s 96 right now and still doing well! She has been to time square for new years 10 years in a row she lived in New York for 10 years and she saw the ball drop for 1941-1951!
Nice! I know that 1941-1942 was the first television ball drop. Considering that television service began on April 30, 1939, 1939-1940 and 1940-1941 could have been televised as well, though nothing is in the listings for those dates.
22:32 This moment makes me cry so hard because it would be the *last time* we would all hear Dick Clark’s voice do this countdown before he passed away on April 18, 2012. 😭
As someone who was born in the year 22:32, and is currently OBSESSED with anything from the past, to the point where I actually wish I was born in the past, I love this video so much, and gives me a lot of nostalgia even though I wasn’t even there for any of those years except after 2012. Thank you so much for this video, you just earned a new sub! Please, please PLEASEEEEE upload more videos like theseee, it doesn’t even have to be new years, just like a compliation of “best moments from each year, (1950-2024)” or something else. I’m begging youuu, I wanna experience the past like all of the other people in the comments ❤🥹😭
Wow! What an amazing timeline of New Year's Ball Drops. Amazing to see as you watch into the video, the technology just kept getting better and better with every passing year.
I LOVE the dropping of thee apple from the 80s, that HAS to be my favorite droppings thus far! The red white blue of 1991, 2019, 2022 is also a favorite of mine. Happy 2000 the end of the world as we know it! As per fireworks show I like 2008, 2017.
13:40 when it turned 1984 was the 1st year I can remember being able to stay up til midnight to see the year turn! I was 6, almost 7 years old and at the time our family was staying with my grandparents, an aunt, and an older cousin. If I recall only my cousin, my grandpa and I actually made it to midnight. My younger siblings were only 4 and 6 and pretty sure they and everyone else was way asleep. Since then I have only missed midnight on new years eve a handful of times. A couple times as a kid in the 80s and most recently when it turned 2018
@@okjeffy6581 - sometimes they do. There's _always_ that extra bit of excitement whenever a xxy0 year is coming!... granted the previous new-decade wasn't a good one... I had a friend text me back on New Year's Day 2010 saying "Happy New Decade!" I saw a TV Guide cover from 1960 reminiscing on the 1950s, "Boogie Nights" had a banner saying "let's make the '80s great!", and then there's this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pTnk3YfkKYY.htmlsi=6DKKGQlONXgfkNMh&t=323 and 8:25 I mean it's exciting when we pass into a new year, it's very exciting when it's a new century, even more so when it's a new millennium! A new Number in our calendar year is always something to be excited about - why not a new completed set of 10 years?
I think for everyone, the year 1999 was been for others, the end of everything and they think: if the year 2000 arrived, there's not chance to live, but the 2000's arrived and nothing happened. I was born from 2007
I was born that year! Now that makes me feel even more special! I was born in the same year as the 100’th anniversary of the ball drop! Or was it the 101’st? 2008, BTW!
I love the new year as my favorite holiday! Guy Lombardo was great at the new year at first. I was born in 1992 and I enjoy seeing the ball drop. I am now glad it shows every consecutive year from 1950 to 2024 to begin with now! I want to see so many more years begin in my life. For the next year to begin, it would be great to put a 75th anniversary of 1950 to 2025 to do the ball drops for 75 years of a tribute. Let's make 2024 awesome. I am so excited about 2025 to begin as well.
Happy 2024 everybody! hopefully everyone is healthy and happy. And hopefully Gets. Whatever problems they have figured out whether it’s physical or whatever and always remember to be happy please stay peaceful please please please try happy new year everyone !
See I was born during the 80s because we been going to church we weren't allowed to watch television. I was able to when I was in my early 20s. The years gone by so fast! The crowd wasn't so wildly in the 1950s and 60s like today. There was no fireworks and gunshots when the ball drops for each year.
I must admit, at 26:00, I was playing a Roblox game About the ball dropping, *AND HOLY MOTHER OF GOD THERE WERE SO MANY PEOPLE IN AT ONCE THE GAME WAS LITERALLY LAGGING.* Let me give you a breakdown of what happened: When the timer started, I expected the ball to move freely down the pole, Nope, there were too many people at once and the game was lagging, Once the timer hit "00" The ball dropped literally instantly, *Seriously, It was to celebrate 2022 anyways.* Now for 2023, *NO,* as 2023 was the worst year of my life, It actually felt like 2020 all over again, I'm kinda glad 2023 and 2020 are gone, I just really don't know what to say at this point. For 2024, I wasn't playing a Roblox NYE Ball Drop game, I was recording the TV, Then my knuckles hit the ceiling *4 TIMES* in a row, i think, i'm not sure, *Anyways, i'm very sorry that this comment was extremely long and off topic, I was just giving a breakdown of what happened that year and etc.*
Inside my mother’s womb: 17:51 First one that I’m on this earth: 18:09 First one I remember seeing live: 22:49 (too bad for Dick Clark.) My mother died on January 21, 2019 at age 48.

2023 was a great year for me, because that was the year that I paid off my newly revamped house in full at the age of 40 years old. And for the most part is that my very life changed from that day on😂. Now it's all in the matter of how this year known as 2024 has got in store for me.
We have been staying up to watch the New Year's Eve celebration every year for many years and it has been a lot of fun most years and a little bit sad some years. However, the last few years, they haven't been showing the ball coming down when they would count down to midnight like tbey used to.😊😊
