New YELLOW Gold Rolex Yachtmaster 42 first look. This model was the release that mostly got my attention, only because I like the white gold version so much that I thought....Why not make one in Yellow or Rose?
Now that I have it one my wrist and I able to see it in person I can say that I love it!

You are 100% correct with why its "pale" also it's so shiny your eyes can't pick up the color correctly from the reflection.

I'm a YM fan, I own the SS/PT 40mm 116622 pt dial. I'd love to see this new YG 42mm IRL. Yes, the yellow gold looks pale. Maybe they put less copper in the YG alloy to further distinguish it from the RG YM40? I like it better than the WG.

It’s a winner and just that little bit more that was needed versus the white gold. And agree, it’s hard to think about value (retained value will stay), when it’s about wearing and enjoying the timepiece above all else!

Wish they put yellow (or maybe bright blue) text “Yachtmaster”, the same way it’s red for the 40 rose…a bit of color would make it stand out and be more sporty

Really like the look, vibe & style of that watch! Rolex really did a great job on that one the gold & black colorway is fuckin killer , I think 42 mm suits that watch really well. Personal opinion it's a home run

So I got to handle all the new exhibition models - I was looking forward to seeing the Falcon eye but expecting to prefer the gold like you - but on the wrist - the white gold just hits - and the Falcon eye is really cool making that combo a really cool combo - you have to see a video or the Falcon eye in person - not going to be for everyone

True Rolex def makes all the different size watches and they all wear and fee different. My sweet spot is 40mm and sub/ gmt case.

Am I seeing it right that the strap does not fit on the cases edges between the lugs? I mean Omega does it, AP does it, Patek does it, why does the Oysterflex look like an aftermarket strap? Poor job i would say from Rolex (but otherwise the watch is cool).

Eric, nice watch for sure, but I still like the 116655 40MM Rose Gold version, the rose gold is so warm looking and rose gold is not as common as the yellow gold pieces overall in the watch industry.

My "Mr. Frosty", that is, my 2007 Platinum Dial Yacht-Master I bought new at the MGM Grand in Vegas is still just right up there with all these new ones (in my opinion). Of course I have to like it, it's mine, what do you expect?!!

Excellent review of a grail piece. I came very close to grabbing the white gold version but through past experience found white gold loses its appeal with me. As soon as I saw this after the release I put my order in, cash is on hand in anticipation. My AD has always been great... hope they come thru.

Two things For one , it seems Rolex changed their gold configuration on how they make their yellow gold. It is now more pale unfortunately and will stay that way. It sucks. For two, I don't like that the YM42 have glossy dials. The YM40 has a matte dial that goes very nice with the matte bezel insert. Wish it was matte on the 42 as well. Deal breaker for me

It’s a beautiful watch and I think the best of the YM OF models. That being said I’ve tried it and it’s too heavy for my tastes. I prefer to knock around my 124060.
