I saw cars as new as 1951 so this is 20, 30s, 40sa and 50s. What an advanced society. Everyone peacefully co-existing and well dressed. I like the black chauffeur driving the obviously rich white family around. I wish You Tube wouldn't insert other videos at the end cutting off a lot of the image.

Why are all the signs backwards?

When Sweden switched from driving on left side of the road to driving on the right side of the road on 3 September 1967, no one foresaw the serious consequence that the printed word would suddenly be seen backwards by the rest of the world. Immediately people had to learn to read backwards and most did so with surprising alacrity. Some never adapted though, including my grandfather who for the rest of his life had to rely on others to interpret bank statements, letters from his loved ones and even the Holy Bible. He never again drove an automobile, which didn’t seem to bother him as he lived in a remote rural area and preferred to use horses anyway, vastly preferring sentient beings for his conveyance over the land to relying on soulless machinery. I shudder to think what old Grandpap would think of autonomous vehicles and AI! What we see on these old newsreels is the way our ancestors actually viewed the world. This is why so many older people are so dreadfully fearful of change. Can you imagine the drain on public coffers and the taxpayer in order to republish centuries of the printed word and to display tens of thousands of public signs with the new orientation? As a child I was diagnosed with dyslexia, which fortunately was soon remedied by Grandmama noticing when I spent time with her husband my condition drastically worsened. Thereafter, when I was with Grandpap I had to carry a mirror with me. This therapy by visual high jinx has appeared to have worked as you can see by this post that I was able to go on and become a most proficient writer. The Beatles track “Rain” as heard on their Revolver album is also an artifact of this time period. Lennon and McCartey were actually composing a soundtrack for the hair removal product Nair when the changeover happened. On that day, George Martin was on holiday in Sweden and unlike the band and the rest of the production team he was not affected by the Non-Swedish Reversal Syndrome (NSRS). The final mix of this track was plagued by bitter dispute between Mr. Martin and the band, he (Mr. Martin) blaming the perceptual deviancies of the band on their profligate use of hallucinogenic substances. Regardless, the track is widely considered to be a work of genius. Even old Grandpap agreed, though he vociferously stated he would have preferred they had added Uncle Dave Macon with his banjo and his son Dorris to the final mix.

@@fiddlejohn9305 Sounds a little far-fetched to me.

The signs and the roads are backwards. Not done right.

I noticed that, too. You can read them backwards but the correct orientation would have been better.

Not a single female is wearing pants. They must have been very healthy “physically” back then.

Stolen footage, laterally inverted. More trash output for monetisation!
